Honestly, part of why I appreciate that SkyNani have stayed with bromances instead of romances is because I NEED people to get that queer stories aren't always about romance (and also that friendship is just as important a story as romance). And Wu is really giving me so much to work with in that conversation.
and may I add that I'm really looking forward to the meta-commentary and mix of homage and satire that we might get from Arrest & Action, because it could add a lot to the conversation about fandom projection and how shipping is (or at least was supposed to be) an irreverent, fantastical and lighthearted exercise of extrapolation of reality and imagination, not a serious, harsh and demanding supervision from conspiracy theorists. I really want to see their characters actually kiss in Arrest & Action, but not end up romantically together in the end, because then it will both be true to the mission of the characters, the play/joke we're all supposed to be in on, but *without* giving people a traditional BL and end up signaling that Sky and Nani can be easily coerced into doing whatever by a frustrated fraction of the fandom claiming ownership over them. which feels like both SkyNani embracing the BL world, but in their own way and sending a message that they will be very subversive as a pair going forward.
ain't nothing more queer than being subversive and defying normative expectations! take me to court!
