Making friends and bonds online wasn’t usually commonplace for Emi, sure she met people and got along well due to being a little more outgoing thanks to digital freedom, but she still did her best often not to stick out, so not only had be been surprised at making a friend to begin with, but having them stick around for what she’d considered a long time…
Honestly, she’d been freaking out about this sort of meetup, she figured this would be the iceberg that would sink the titanic so to speak, already she had a feeling she wouldn’t meet expectations, but there was the paranoia of messing up, what to wear, dress down or dress up? She’d driven her sister crazy both asking what to do and put on, and trying to get said sister to not stalk the entire date out of overprotectiveness.
After swallowing close to a hundred time on the walk there, and doing her best to steel herself despite a light nervous shaking, she’d made her approach…
“O-oh hiya! Nice to meet you Cassia.”
Her brain was occupied with all the worrying she almost didn’t catch the greeting, a second to snap herself back from distraction and into a short tangent of apologies before slipping into the opposite chair and playing with her fingers a little.
“Uhhh hot works, d-does this place do hot chocolate? I’ve never really been here specifically before um…”
Hearing her stutter made Cassia’s heart flutter; she really was just like she was online. Her blue hair surprisingly fit her frame, and she was so polite.
More than Cassia normally got from dates, that was for sure.
Hearing that she’d want a hot chocolate, Cassia made mental note of it before disappearing inside; several minutes later and she was back, hot drinks in hand. She’d bend down to place Emily’s drink down, stealing a glance and giving her a wink before sitting down.
“I… Really appreciate you coming out here, I mean– It’s, uh… The first time I’ve agreed to date someone online, y’know?”
It wasn’t her norm; Cassia had good-enough looks to be able to date without going online. But she’d gotten tired of dating scumbags and drunkards, so she’d kept to herself, found Emil online, and…
Well, now they were here, drinking together.
And now she was feeling awkward; just what did she talk about? What did she bring up?
“I, um… Meant what I said, online; that I, um… Would be happy for us to, y’know– Um… Be a thing.”
She was fidgeting under her table, fingers clasping the cup hard enough to break it; she wasn’t normally so shy nor reserved, but with matters like this, she had to be. It’d determine if they were going to continue on the date or not.
“Now that you’ve seen me in person, what… Do you think?”
