“i miss you, i miss us hanging out together…” james spoke in a soft voice, and his eyes looked everywhere but at you.

“james, you left me. you just stopped talking to me, and for what reason?” you say, obviously upset, which was justified since you two were friends and he just stopped talking to you, but it was for a reason.

“i had to, okay,” james says, almost in a pleading tone.

“that’s all i get? just you had to, not even an explanation on why you had to,” you told him, flailing your arms around out of frustration before walking towards the door.

james grabbed your wrist to stop you before speaking, “i had to because if i didn’t stop being friends with you, then you were gonna become a target of mia’s bullying.”

james’ confession shocked you, because while you were here resenting him for ditching you, he was actually still protecting you, even if he couldn’t tell you.

“so why are you telling me this now?”

“because i’m fed up with all of them, i’m not like that, i don’t hurt people for my own amusement, and mia and her girls and basically the whole football team does.” james vents to you but not at you.

“but you’re literally mia’s boyfriend,’’ you state it like it was obvious, which it was because mia made it known that james was hers.

“you don’t think i want out of that? she’s possessive as shit, i can’t do it no more, and she won't let me break up with her,” james tells you, sounding like he might break down at any moment.

“sounds toxic.”

“you have no idea,” james looks up at you, and you open the door to your home, inviting him in, which he gladly accepts the invitation.

upon james walking in, your mother immediately greeted him. “oh my—james i haven’t seen you over in a while.”

“yeah, sorry, but i think i might be coming over a little bit more often now, if you don’t mind.”

“james when have you ever asked to come over? you used to just walk in that front door,” your mother teases james and you all three laugh.

a few weeks went by, and you and james were basically sneaking around to see each other, but not in a way most people would think.

you two were only sneaking around to hang out platonically. you two were back to being best friends, but you had to hide your friendship behind closed doors.

sometimes it felt like james was cheating on mia with you, but you two had no sexual relationship, just friendly.

“so..” james speaks up first.

“i liked it,” he confesses, and you snicker before kissing him again.

as weeks went on james was still dating mia, but would steal glances towards you in the halls and in classes.

it was almost ten at night when you heard your bedroom door open. it was james standing there looking more and more attractive each time you see him.

“y/n i like you. we kissed, and you liked it too, i wanna be with you, not mia,” james confessed being vulnerable for the first time since you were kids.

you walked over to him, planting a kiss on his lips. the kiss deepened, and james walked you two over towards your bed.

“wipe that smile off your face, mia,” james says, obviously pissed off at her, and goes to comfort you.

“what, so you take her side, you’re my boyfriend!” mia yells, upset that he would dare not to comfort her.

“not anymore, i’m done with you, mia. We’re over,” james paused, wrapping his arm around you before continuing with, “and for good this time.”

you and james walked off to the concession stand, leaving mia alone with whatever mess she just caused.

“are you okay?”

“yeah, and you know you didn’t have to do that,” you stated, looking up at him, but he interlocks his hand with yours before speaking.

“i know, but hopefully this time it sticks in her head. because i want you, y/n, not mia,” james tells you before leaning down and planting a kiss on your lips, getting glances from other students passing by.

“i love you too baby, and trust me i wouldn’t wanna be with anybody else.” you tell him, but he didn’t hear any of it as he was already asleep.

“of course, but you’re still so cute when you’re sleeping, dummy.” you say smiling before placing a soft kiss on his cheek and laying down next to him on the couch.

“he went to sooah’s… after.. that was the reason we were arguing, because he spends too much of his time with her,” you spoke getting more and more heated by the second, and miyeon just lets you continue on ranting.

“did i tell you i caught them cuddling the other day?” you told your best friend and she just raised her eyebrows like this was news to her. “yeah, i came home to them cuddled up on my couch, and when i confronted them they just acted like it was all normal and that i was overreacting.” you ranted huffing once you were done.

“what the fuck, do you think…” miyeon’s voice trailed off as you cut her off finishing her sentence. “he’s fucking her? oh yeah.”

your phone buzzes, you look down and see a text from jungwon saying, ‘i love baby, dont forget that.’

you kept scrolling through your notifications on your phone seeing a text from heeseung inviting you to a party at jake’s dorm tonight.

you and heeseung were good friends, he was always kind towards you, and he’s even been there maybe once or twice to comfort you after a fight with jungwon.

you texted him back that you’d be there, and then looked over at miyeon with a slight smile which she caught onto.

“what’s that for?” she asks referring to the smile on your face.

“you wanna go to a party with me, jake’s throwing a party, heeseung just invited me?” you asked her while raising your phone and she nodded her head.

“you made it.” heeseung says as you and miyeon walk in together.

“yeah,” you say looking around and seeing jungwon cuddled up to sooah on the couch and you marched over there.

“what the hell?”

“oh, hey babe, you calmed down yet?” jungwon asks looking at you like he’s actually serious, and he was.

“yeah,” you say pissed off but complying with him and he gets up, wrapping an arm around you leaning down planting a kiss on your lips which makes sooah roll her eyes.

“wonie could you take me home, i’m not feeling well,” she says in her fake sweet voice that for some reason always worked on him and got him to drop everything he was doing with you to tend to her.

your boyfriend looks down at you and then back at sooah before saying, “i’m not driving right now, ask jay or someone who’s actually sober.” jungwon tells her wondering where her logic is.

“but, wonie..” she whines, but he doubled down. “no. sooah. i’m too drunk, go ask jay.” jungwon tells her walking away with you leaving her to pout.

jungwon leads you down a hallway, bringing you to an empty bedroom. “jungwon.” you say knowing exactly why he brought you in here.

“what? you still mad that you’re not gonna have sex with me?”

“you ran to sooah’s after we were arguing about her. i told you i don’t like that you run to her house every time we fight. i don’t like that you drop everything you’re doing for her but won’t even call me to see how i’m doing, i don’t even know why you like me?” you retorted back at him a little irritated at your boyfriend at this moment.

“she’s my best friend.” was all jungwon had to say to you.

“that’s it? that’s all you have to say? are you kidding me jungwon?!” you spoke before scoffing and going to walk out but he grabs your wrist before you can.

“wait. baby, i’m sorry. please, i love you. i’ll put distance between me and sooah, i promise.” jungwon tells you trying but failing to be vulnerable to make you forgive him but you weren’t buying it.

“you really expect me to believe that?”

“y/n..”

“i need a break jungwon.” you spit out looking down.

“look me in the eye and say that to me.” jungwon says in a demanding tone and you did exactly that.

“i swear on everything if you fuck anyone else we’re not just talking a break we’re over.”

“are you fucking kidding me?!” you yelled from pure shock that he dared to demand that of you after everything.

“no, because i see the way heeseung looks at you. like he wants to fuck you or something.” jungwon spat out pissed off that you wanted to take a break from him.

“as long as that goes both ways jungwon, because i’m not stupid,” you say before leaving obviously pissed off going to meet up with heeseung and miyeon who were chatting as you approached them.

“i just told jungwon i wanted to take a break,” you announced to your friends who were both shocked.

“wait, like a break. or a break-up?” miyeon questioned raising an eyebrow at you.

“just a break. i need time to be by myself without a boyfriend for a minute,” you say as you feel like there was a weight lifted off your shoulders.

you heard jungwon’s voice moments later asking sooah if she’d leave with him, which made you raise an eyebrow about how out and bold he was with his request, and of course, she said yes immediately.

weeks went by, you and jungwon are still on a break, but he keeps calling and texting you non-stop. you’ve answered a few of his texts but ultimately it ended with you blocking him for a few hours just to unblock him again.

since the break with jungwon you’ve been talking to heeseung more, since you know for a fact jungwon can’t go a day without sticking his dick in something or someone, most likely sooah.

so you’ve decided to distract yourself with your two best friends, miyeon and heeseung. at the moment it was just you and heeseung when you got a text from jungwon which was something along the lines of if he finds out you let someone else take what was his he would never forgive you or some shit.

“i know it’s not my place, but are you sure you wanna get back together with him?” heeseung asks looking over your shoulder reading the text jungwon just sent you.

“i.. maybe.”

“y/n, you’re better than this. he does not deserve you. he makes you cry, you’ve told me a lot of things about him and none of them were good.” heeseung says just talking at this point because obviously you’re not seeing how toxic jungwon is.

“the only thing he hasn’t done is put his hands on you, which doesn’t mean he’s not still abusing you. he’s an emotional manipulator, and you don’t need him,” you looked up at him as he said that seeing heeseung in a new light.

oddly, the way he was treating you recently, was making you fall for him, he was the complete opposite of jungwon.

you first fell in love with jungwon because of how persistent he was. you were in high school when he first confessed his feelings, back when he was sweet, innocent jungwon.

but now, he was different and you never knew what it was that changed his character, maybe it was sooah getting into his head—she was always flirting with him.

or maybe it was his friends, but whatever it was you didn’t like this new side of him. you missed the old jungwon and part of you held on to maybe deep down that part of him was still there, but as many times as you tried, there was no getting through to him.

you were at your apartment when jungwon showed up unannounced banging on your door. “y/n, baby you better open this door!”

you didn’t want to, but you knew he wouldn’t leave otherwise, so you let him in.

“what?!” you say obviosly annoyed at him.

“is he here?” jungwon asks in an accusatory tone.

“you know who. heeseung!” jungwon accuses again.

“jungwon, you need to leave,” you tell him smelling the alcohol on his breath.

“has he fucked you yet?” jungwon spat out while pulling you in for a rough kiss.

you push him off you immedately. “jungwon, leave you’re drunk.”

“are we over? like for good?” jungwon asks revealing a part of himself that you haven’t seen since high school.

“i think maybe it’s time we see other people. you were my first relationship and you’ll always mean something to me…” you paused for a minute looking at him and he cuts you off before you could speak again.

“fine! but don’t come crawling back to me once you realise heeseung only wants you for one thing, while i have always been there for you. since high school y/n remember that!” jungwon tells you a barating tone just before storming out.

you huffed out and went back into your bedroom where heeseung was waiting for you to return—thankfully jungwon never went to your bedroom or he would’ve seen a shirtless heeseung in your bedroom.

“he sounded pissed.”

“we broke up,” you tell him and he pats the spot next to him while lifting up the blanket for you to get back into bed with him.

“baby, you know you deserve better and if you want…”

“i just broke up with jungwon and you’re asking me out?” you teased which made him spaz out a bit, but you kissed him which made him realise you were on the same page as him.

seonghwa felt bad, you’re his best friend since the day he met you he knew you were someone he wanted in his life.

he just recently started developing feelings for you, but he never thought you could feel the same way.

so his way to deal with that was to hook up and date other girls instead of telling you how he felt.

he knew it was stupid and that he should just tell you, but he has a girlfriend, hana. to say she didn’t like you was an understatement.

she was always very passive aggressive with you when seonghwa was around and when he wasn’t she was telling you to stay away from seonghwa.

and right now he’s starting to realize you’re the one he wants, but he keeps blowing you off because he’s scared of his feelings for you.

he’s not even seeing hana tonight, he was up in his dorm room alone for the night just thinking to himself about you, about hana, about how to tell you how he feels.

“y/n get dressed we’re going to a party.” one of your roommates, saewon tells you as you’re bundled up in bed sulking about seonghwa.

“babes what’s wrong?”

“nothing, i’m not feeling in the party time of mood right now.” you tell her and she immediately knew something was up.

*gasp* “who are you and what have you done with y/n?!” she says while clutching her chest. “is this about a boy?”

you jerk your head towards her as she just pinpointed why you were curled up in bed upset.

“seonghwa?” she questions curiously.

“yeah..”

“i knew it! you have feelings for him right?” she says sitting down on your bed as you sat up under the covers.

“he has a girlfriend.”

“so, hana cheating on him as we speak.” saewon says taking the covers off of you.

“how do you know that?” you questioned as she pulled out her phone and showed you a picture of hana making out with another guy.

“seonghwa said him and hana were going out tonight?”

“well, hana’s at this party hitting on other guys.” saewon says before getting up to leave you alone.

you got dressed, tied your hair up and walked over to seonghwa’s to dorm. once you got to his dorm you knocked and his roommate, yunho answered the door.

“y/n, you’re here. he’s in his room.”

you walked into seonghwa’s room seeing him laying on his bed scrolling through his phone when he heard you open and shut his door.

“i thought you were going out with hana tonight?”

“uhh.. i was. plans changed or something…” seonghwa states with his head down still.

“did something happen?”

“i uh.. broke up with her..” seonghwa tells you now looking up for your reaction.

“look i know you know i didn’t like her, but why?” you questioned genuinely curious about what happened in the last twenty minutes since you spoke on the phone.

“because..”

“because..?” you say studying him as you sat down on seonghwa’s bed.

“i found out she was cheating on me and…” seonghwa looks at you as he stopped himself mid sentence.

“and..?”

“and she suspected that i might have feelings for someone else..”

“oh.. who?” you asked softly.

“you..” seonghwa speaks his voice trailing off as he can no longer look at you afraid of your rejection.

“me..? hold up, are you saying you have feelings for me?” you questioned in disbelief because you never thought he would feel the same way.

seonghwa nods his head and you’re at a loss for words, like your mouth is open but no words would come out.

he comes closer to you tucking a strand of hair behind your ear and leaning in planting a kiss on your lips, you returned the kiss cupping his face in your hands as the kiss got more heated.

“yeah i have feelings for you.” seonghwa says leaving you breathless beneath him.

“yeah? me too..” you say shyly.
