Did it to prove to be a safer place for Jews? No
It just rubs me the wrong way the way Palestinians are so dehumanized that these Zionists will always talk about how there has to be a safe place for Jews, while completely obfuscating the suffering of the Palestinians. The comment does not mention the native Arabs once, it just hinges on the premise that self-determination is a right for Jews and whatever happens to some other group is a great sacrifice worthy in order to ensure Jewish safety, but is ultimately a footnote in the grand scheme of things.
Often when discussing the legitimacy or issues of colonial governments people somehow always manage to leave the native groups those governments are directly persecuting out of the discussion or equation.
You will always see this equivocation when Zionists attempt to define Zionism as "the right for Jewish self-determination" or "the Right of Jews to return to their ancestral homeland", because it fails to take the native Arab population into question.
Also just the fact that holding Jews and Israel/Zionism on the same pedestal just makes it harder for Jews because if all the world (as a whole) knows about Jews is Israel and Zionism, it will always make us a target.
Bc this rhetoric is essentially telling the worlds that Jews and Judaism agree with principals of genocide, war, and murdering innocents.
This is what is making us unsafe as Jews. Yes, white supremacy and Naziism still exists but would be so much more niche if Israel and Zionism did not exist and did not conflate themselves with an entire community.
