“i guess that makes sense, yeah.” she laughed, not really able to relate. she’d wanted to move away from her family since she was much younger than penny.

“your family’s here too now,” she smiled. she had tried her best to make her two new sisters feel welcome, but things still felt awkward.

“Oh, that’ll be so cute!”

“i’m really excited for it.”

“That sounds like a good number of people, sweetheart. I’m not sure but I will definitely ask them if they want to come to you’re recital.”

“they’ll have to ask their parents too. that you mama. i really want to get to know them more.”

“ I don’t have to give you flowers or anything after the show right ? “

“you don’t have to bring me flowers.”

“ if my parents allows me to go. i don’t see why not, plus i never been in a dance recital before. it’d be pretty cool to attend one. “

“they’re lots of fun, i promise.”

“I’m so excited! Obviously I’ll be watching all of your dances every time I can get away from the dressing room for a few minutes.”

“i am too but i’m a little nervous. i’ll try to see yours too, there’s just a lot going on. i got added to one of the littles dances because they need someone to follow.”

“Then it’s a plan. That makes sense and of course! Just let me know what you guys would like and I’ll go get it before I pick you guys up okay?”

“i will mama, i promise. it shouldn’t be more than like two other people, maybe three. d’you think brooklyn and kieran would want to come to the show?”

“Smart girl. Done and here you go. Nope I’ll be able to give you a ride there and home, unless you wanted to hang out with some of he girls after?”

“thanks mama. that would be perfect. i dunno if we’ll want to hang out we might be really tired. would it be alright if a couple of the girls spend the night?”

“You don’t play Pokemon? Jesus Christ, kids these days. It’s not that I can’t try again. It’s that I put in all that work and now it doesn’t mean anything.”

“nope i’ve never played it before. my brother might have, but i haven’t. it does mean something  ‘cause now you know how to do it.”

“Okay it’s going in my schedule once we can charge our phones. Okay what time on thursday? I’ll see what I can do but you have me for sure.”

“you should put a note on the fridge so you don’t forget. the rehearsal goes from two to seven, i can get a ride from someone else if you’re busy.”

“You’re welcome baby. Five it is, what day is it again? Maybe I can get your siblings to come as well.”

“it’s on friday. i also have to be at the theater on thursday for a rehearsal. i’d really like it if they could come too.”

“i like them too, they’re all really nice.“

“if they come to the show can i meet ‘em?”

“what? no my friends love this kinda stuff, they think dances are cool.”

“yeah, some of them are jerks. i like your friends.”

“You got it, do you want some water instead? I can’t promise it’ll be cold but it’ll be something. Once the power comes back we can plug it in and you should be able to text Parker.”

“yes please, thank you mama. i’ll be alright with just room temperature water. i just want to make sure he’s okay. i saw brooke earlier but i haven’t seen him in a while.”

“Of course I wouldn’t miss it, pumpkin! I love watching you dance and I don’t want to miss any performances. What time do you need to be there?”

“thank you mama, i love you. the show doesn’t start until seven, but i need to be there by five to get warmed up and get my makeup and stuff ready.”

“i don’t see why they wouldn’t.“

“some older kids think it’s lame and just for little kids.”
