My dashboard will be a post of Noel saying the most evil and concerning shit you've ever heard out loud about controlling and owning his little brother followed by a post of Noel showing more affection and adoration for Liam than you've ever seen him show before followed by a post of Noel's decade of post breakup lyrics mourning and yearning for a lost love followed by Noel with a comment about Liam that's as deeply hurtful as only those closest to a person can be followed by lyrics about being together forever sailing into the sunset. And it's all real

I always feel so cheated in stories when characters are walking around with this Big Guilt and then...you find out that the thing wasn't their fault at all. And not in a "they thought they did it but it turns out they were set up" way, or even a "accepting that just because they did A which caused B which caused C it doesn't mean C was their fault", way but where they finally lay out the sequence of events and it's clear that any thinking person would not connect them. Like, fucking commit!!! The character isn't LESS compelling if they actually did the thing! You can't have the haunted brooding meow meow who is...also completely blameless

I do have to say though. Black Sails really went off with Captain Flint, who directly or indirectly has gotten half the people he knows killed. A lesser character would be dark and brooding about how it's all his fault, and he's so tortured with guilt, and so on and so forth. Flint, on the other hand, is constantly stewing on how it's somebody else's fault, and when Silver suggests that he is the common denominator Flint is like "what the fuck are you talking about"
