A friend who works in the unionized trades sent me a few tips and places to apply to become a journeyman and I want to make sure I start that process before the baby needs me again.

It wasn’t a lot but I was able to get a few groceries until the baby and my SNAP benefits come in (we have a benefits interview next week).

But I would like to destress after an intense verbal and physical altercation that resulted in me getting sprayed by my own pepper spray. I’m physically fine, but it’s a lot to go through when you’re just with a small friendly dog for protection.

Please send $20 so I can grab some weed and more caffeine after almost being assaulted and having to walk off my own pepperspray blowback after attempting to end the situation.

I know that’s not essential - I’ll be making a fundraiser for more substantive things as I’m working out how to enter a formal trade since I can’t find regular work in this economy.

You’ll allow my wife to get meals during her workday and help us stay afloat on rent while we hear back on trade apprenticeships and community college applications.

One of the universal rights is the right to unionize one's career.

As far as I can tell there's literally nothing stopping sex workers from unionizing or forming a guild in order to protect themselves. Union bosses could even call themselves Madames if they wanna.

In countries where selling sex is only partially criminalized under various legal models, unions often can (and do!) exist, but their power is limited. In the UK we have SWU (Sex Worker's Union) which I am a member of, but our laws make it so that my union can't support me with a huge range of issues because my union rep would be charged as a pimp if they did. Our efforts to organize for better working conditions always have to come second to pushing for full decriminalization.

There are only a few places which have full decriminalization of sex work. In Belgium, there's the sex worker union UTSOPI. Since it's not illegal to do full-service sex work or any surrounding acts there, UTSOPI is able to have much more influence on public policy and is far more empowered to support their workers.

I realize this was a question, but I do wish people wouldn't start making claims that something is a "universal right" (it's not) and suggesting there's nothing stopping us, as if sex workers are simply too stupid to have considered this already. Sex workers are an incredibly engaged group of workers highly prone to becoming class conscious and politically radicalized.

okay so i think i found the article op's (and me in my tags) talking about. being exposed to over 40 celsius (120 farenheit or so) for the whole day means youre sweating a LOT (the article says rashid- the farmer at the centre of the text- drinks around 17 liters a Day. humans usually only need 3, so i presume the rest is mostly used for sweat). so much so that the organizm reroutes water from other parts of itself to not die of heatstroke - salivary glands included, which means that 1. they have very little saliva in comparison to a healthy human being 2. what little their bodies DO produce is incredibly acidic, falling to ~5.5 ph from the ideal of 7ph. Teeth dissolve. Quickly. There's a mention of someone losing 8 teeth in two years

im not reading the whole article now (headache -_-), but later on the author of the article says about 30 million people (employed in agriculture) are at risk for extreme dental health problems. 30 million people at risk of not being able to eat solid food. 30 million people at risk of not being able to find work. being able to marry. being able to be part of their community. being able to speak clearly

Why might someone from a group of people that historically have been denied access to wealth, now brag that they have it?
