its tragic and sad how ugly every special edition of a book is these days. first is the sprayed edges which started being corny about five minutes in but what i hate even more is how the back of the book is full of empty space w/ a quote in the center in too-big letters and a poor font choice and if its not all empty space this quote is covering up some gorgeous artwork

that doesnt look like the back of a novel i’d genuinely read it looks like a poster i would make on canva for the library book display

i’ve been stuck on this mammoth book all month simply because i’ve been watching television instead of reading but unironically shotaro in kr w being such a big detective novel fan is making me go fuckkkk i wanna read some detective novels so i gotta get back into reading. might switch to an easier read just to get into the swing of things then finish the big 900 pager

#i’ve been meaning to read katabasis + my sister has a copy. kuang’s writing is clear and fast 2 read so it should work #this will be the first book of hers i’ve read since my retrospectively disliking babel more. i loved it when i first read 4 years ago #but in hindsight thinking abt the book im becoming more ehhhhhh #im sure ill be a judgemental hater thruout the book. but that is fun in its own way

i really appreciate how cohesive this crossover movie is. starts with 42 minutes that basically feel like an extended kamen rider W episode, ends on a cliffhanger, plays the toei studio logo again, and now decade is murdering riders. incredible stuff
