So, I rushed through The Magnus Archives in 2 weeks a month ago and now I made an animatic of the funny scene in MAG#181! There wasnĀ“t one for it online and that made me so sad I went ahead and tried out a whole new form of art what-

Squeaky glass. Glass fresh outta the dishwasher so its still got that soap residue that makes it sticky and squeaky and dry and awful. Genuinely canāt handle putting glasswear away out of the dishwasher unless I use gloves or a cloth. Most annoying part is you run it under some water and bam its back to normal glass. So why canāt the machine just rinse it properly man it makes me feel sick.

Idk if this is a Magnus Archives hot take but Iāve always been peeved by people complaining about the series being confusing/hard to follow. Donāt get me wrong the name jokes will always be funny esp because Mr Sims calls all his less important characters outside of TMA fuckinā Jerry Ballsack or something since he hates naming characters so damn much. And the Michaels of course.
But what I mean is people calling the complexity of the world and how the audience is kept in the dark about most of it an actual detractor. Iāve heard people say they couldnāt finish the series because they were too confused. Dude??? Its cosmic/eldritch horror??? Its supposed to be confusing and overwhelming and something you cannot fully comprehend. When a story is basically a mystery story where youāre discovering the world alongside your main character youāre meant to be lost!! Jon literally says āI donāt understandā in like every episode leading up to the szn 4 finale.
And ngl? The amount of connections and callbacks in the series are many and very well thought out which gives the series great re-listen potential, but not necessary to catch to understand the forward motion of the plot most of the time. You donāt need to remember what Jude Perry did to that one guy or even her name to understand āah this is fire related shit. I know what they generally doā and move forward. Most of the time when Jon brings up one of an avatarās victims to them its just a general desperate attempt to see if theres any humanity left in them, not because that person is actually important to the story. Which is whatās meant to be scary!! Innocent people are hurt and destroyed and their suffering is tiny and meaningless to the cruel gods that rule their world. And its what makes Jonās transformation so much more apparent and chilling where people can become nothing but sustenance to him.
So when someone is asking about getting into TMA and everyone starts telling them ālol make sure to take notesā Iām kinda like sure do that if you want, but also if your confusion will hinder your listening experience I just donāt really think cosmic horror is for you? And thats ok.
I wanted to add the main time I really get annoyed with this is specifically when someone is asking about starting and has an interest in it and I watch them lose interest because everyone around them is telling them how hard it is to follow. It makes me so fuckin sad man.

Cosmic horror sometimes feels like kink in that I have to submit to the horror in order to not give myself a headache.

Honestly the hardest part about listening to TMA for me was remembering what people look like because it's usually 1 throwaway line that's easy to miss and easier to forget. But that's just the format. I didn't realize Carlos from WTNV was Latino until someone pointed it out.
One of the most beautiful parts of TMA to me is that the way people look isnāt really that important to the plot and therefore the fandom gets to go crazy stupid wild making art of how they imagine the characters. Also any time Iām drawing a character and Iām like wait what do they look like I just look on the wiki to see if theres even any description for them at all.
