MTA/MGK "Skull"
The last piece I'll ever do for MTA/MGK. Thought I had posted this a long time ago but turns out it was just on Instagram. Might be a cool tattoo, but for now it will just stay a t-shirt design.

Arts Week 2014
This year I had another opportunity to present a block printing demonstration at St. John's School in Vancouver and I have to say, I liked what I saw. I used an exercise developed by the Surrealists called the "Exquisite Corpse". The work shown is by students from grade 8 to 11. All designs were carved, assembled and printed by the students.Â
LOOK!, 2013. Collage, bitmap
Macro-Predatory (Police Shark), 2010. Acrylic paint on raw canvas.
Feels good to finally make something I can feel good about.Â
Some promotional material I made for the SCDSU at SFU. See more about Sustainable Community Development here.

Perestroika? (Restructuring) collage series 03, 2013. Mixed Media on paper.
Most, if not all collages I do are automatic. I don't really set out seeking a message, it just kind of comes through with the cutting and pasting of images. With the latest series of collages I've combined a series of images taken from 1980s communication arts magazines and other explicit magazines.Â
Happy Buddha, Da Monk Series, 2013. Pen and Ink.
This is an image I made for a friend of mine. The series attempts to take a rather humours look at the history of spirituality, meditation and enlightenment through representational imagery. The theme is drugs and spirituality throughout history, with a reference to a wide range of dogmas and beliefs. You can see more Da Monk work on my Logos page.Â
Panther Head, 2013. Hand-printed lino-cut on paper. Did this from a sketch, transfered onto black soft linoleum with white transfer paper, then I traced it out with a lino-cutter. Did the background free-hand.Â

The word "collage" is derived from the french verb coller, which translates to "glueing". Like many of today's borrowed artistic practices, the collage originated at about the same time as the invention of paper in China at around 200 BC. It was used by the Japanese calligraphers in 10th century, in Gothic cathedrals in the 15th and 16th centuries and then by Cubist painters of the likes of George Braque and Picasso. Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol all used collage to express their political and social motifs in the New Realist Exhibition in November 1962.Â

Another throwback, wanted to show some of Mark's (Gold Canyon) great film work as he documents the last night of 2011. I love his transitions and layers in this video, and appreciate the way he is able to capture our friends in their most natural state. The video also shows a bit of my painting work and a reproduction of a Bridget Riley piece that I did. Although I can't help getting choked up seeing our late cat Nemo in the beginning, I can watch this video over an over again out of pure enjoyment and bliss that is expressed. Great video and a great song by Glass Candy,

A video I did a while back for my buddies the Farmhounds (formerly the Lovebomb Duo). More like a short film, the work utilized a pre-shot projection layered over live-action shots of the performers. In the projection the two are seen in a chase, with Joel (the drummer) hunting down Ricky (the guitarist) with an axe. At the end Ricky meets his fate yet is seen in live action form still alive, incorporating a kind of birth & death theme: although we ourselves are hopelessly mortal, we can attempt to immortalize ourselves with mediums like film.Â
This is a bit of a throw-back, but I just wanted to show some work I did for MTA/MGK. The location is in some remote parking lot in Burnaby by the #1 highway. Had a great time filming this, thanks to Jordan Tang and Mark Gomez (a.k.a. Gold Canyon).
