RCMP Salary in 2026 – What Do Mounties Really Get Paid?
If you have ever wondered what an RCMP officer actually makes in 2026, the short answer is: it is better than a lot of people think.
According to the RCMP’s official pay information, new Constables start at 71,191 CAD per year after they finish Depot, and can reach 115,350 CAD at the top constable step within about three years. The constable rank has five salary steps, so your pay moves up as you gain experience.
The interesting part is that RCMP training is paid too. While you are at the 26‑week Cadet Training Program in Regina, you get a recruitment allowance of 1,000 CAD per week, up to 26,000 CAD in total for the full program, plus room, board, uniform, and travel covered. That means you are not trying to survive with no income while training.
On top of the base RCMP salary, members can earn overtime, shift premiums, court duty pay, and isolated post allowances when posted to remote or high‑cost communities. There are also federal benefits like a pension plan, health and dental coverage, paid vacation, and maternity and parental allowances at 93% of your weekly rate of pay if you meet the conditions.
If you want the full story—full pay grid by rank, allowance breakdowns, and realistic take‑home pay examples—I put everything in one place here:

content warning I guess? political rant
The thing is I have experience with reporting to the RCMP so I know they're an extention of the colonizer state (they showed more interest in in-fighting with TPS than taking action about historical CSA) and the lack of investigation/results from the Green Belt Scandal along with the silence on Ford's phone records and his fascist blocking of the Freedom of Information act recently just confirms my suspicions. If Ford isn't on that list I'll bet he has friends who are and I for one can not wait to vote for someone the fuck else.
