I’m returning to the topic of Bigwig’s characterization in the adaptations, noting that portraying him as being misogynic is even stranger if you recall that dialogue in the first book where Bigwig proudly recounts how his mother once fought with a cat and left it with several scars. After all, wouldn’t he know better than anyone that does are tough too?
Another thing someone made me realize is that in the graphic novel, Bigwig is portrayed as much more serious and stoic than he actually was. Like, he’s always scowling and rarely shows any other expression, whereas in the novel he was a loud, somewhat good-natured, and to some extent arrogant guy—he liked to crack jokes every now and then and listen to stories too!
Btw, now I find it kind of ironic that Miniseries Bigwig is the only one who at least doesn’t come across as openly sexist toward any of the female rabbits, and in that regard, it’s probably the only thing that remains true to his character.

This past Saturday was the anniversary of the birth of Richard Adams, author of Story Warren favorite title, Watership Down. Many of you may know that our friend Joe Sutphin published a graphic novel version of this book back in 2023. We asked our own intrepid illustrator, Zach Franzen, to ask Joe a few questions about the project. Read to the end to find out what classic Joe is working on now!
I drew some headcanon designs for some watership down bunnies...
These are based specifically the bunnies from the book, where Clover is described as a short-haired angora and Haystack a himalayan
once again coming back to share some stuff you could add to the mega folder for the Unten Am Fluss content I've got full gameplays for each of the video games (and for the 1st one so far, an actual downloadable game file so people can play it themselves- the other two have some weird issue that won't allow me to get a playable game file, at most it'll download but it'll request the disc still) and also two of the audio books so far https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLubISxgoT_2DWCNQmuedmh5CY0mY2N_6R&si=79h0Py733qquYpiD https://youtu.be/sJC2j5a_TyQ https://youtu.be/PN_jUMe6PQY
I have seen these while searching for stuff but I think I forgot to bookmark them because I cant find them in my folders. Thank you!!
I am currently struggling to find a good youtube downloader, so if anyone has any reccommendations, pleaseeeeeee throw them my way. Ive gone through tons of extensions for firefox, more websites want you to pay and some are even blocked in the uk now :(
As for the file asking for the disc, download WINCDMu, this lets you "put" the disc into the cd drive and tricks the files into thinking so, so you can play them. I've used this on a few old pc games and it does work. :)

Been rereading watership down recently
I need to give love to all the Owsla rabbits that aren't Bigwig because ahh.
Buckthorn is terribly overlooked and underrated in everything he appears in, Silver...too.
And then there's Holly.
My veteran, my man, my thing, ahhh Holly. I don't know if it's worse to be ignored or to not be used at all.
Holly saw all the horrors with his own eyes, saw the ghosts of his loved ones during their last breaths. And yet he was still there, living, he got through it. And he's a strong, smart, sensible rabbit, not at all unfriendly.
And I really like that about him, he's not just a generic cruel and obedient captain for the sake of it. He's genuinely skilled and yet considerate, but loyal.
I like how Holly's humility and understanding are emphasized. Even while he and Hazel were talking (in a very questionable way) about the females on the farm, he still mentioned how Clover was striving to improve in a positive way. He recognizes that Bluebell kept him alive with his jokes. He doesn't question Hazel and, in his case, tries to reason with his logically if he notices that something might not be right, and if it turns out to be so, he accepts it sincerely.
And his friendship with Blackavar? They were both screwed, so they started hanging out together, patrolling, listening to each other's opinions. It's even Holly who recognizes Blackavar's abilities, even in his deaf state.
He's the first to suggest covering the holes when he sees the Efrafans coming.
He also comforts Pipkin when he wants to keep close to Fiver when he got unconscious, telling him that it's so important for him to live because everyone is equally valuable 💔.
I hate how Holly is almost always used as a vehicle for exposition and nothing else in adaptations.
In a way, I like his parallelism with Campion in the miniseries, but unfortunately, there isn't enough time to develop that concept further.
Otherwise, he isn't a particularly remarkable character in his own right.
My interpretation of Thistle from Watership Down
My interpretation of Charlock from Watership Down
Recently felt like rereading Watership Down but was afraid i would get distracted and not finish it so as an attempt to get myself to pay more attention to the story + a personal challenge i decided to draw every single named rabbit in order of appearance
Currently on chapter 9 so there is many more to come, also decided to include their brasilian portuguese names as i am reading a translated version of the book, it helps me remember plus i think it's a fun addition

Issues 3-5 have been scanned! (And their stories translated!)
< You can find them here <
btw here are a few things i picked up from listening to the christmas tape;
The deer at the mansion is a Roe Deer
The big rock in The Honeycomb is called The story rock
The mansion rabbits do travel with the group to Watership Down (but go home afterwards)
Unten am fluss, Issue 03
BOO surprise cursed Campion sketch!~
Re-watched Watership Down 1999 and, oh boy, I had forgotten a lot about it - especially the finale (magic?!), but Campion is still best bunny (closely followed by Moss. And Thistle's design SLAPS).
