my biggest pet peeve in name researching is that people dont seem to understand the meaning of the word germanic in a linguistics context. germanic doesnt 100% equal german. germanic is a branch of the indo european language family. english is a germanic language. the scandinavian languages are germanic. fucking yiddish has germanic roots along w hebrew. and yea german is germanic BUT SO ARE A LOT OF THINGS
