I headcanon that Dazai forgot his birthday. Like, because no one wished him anything, he ended up forgetting. He knew it was in June, but didn't know the day. So when ppl asked him when he was born, he said “In june. Between 15 and 25”

the night was always calming. always quiet. always cold enough for the breeze to allow for any physical feelings to run through the body - the tingles across skin and the chill air that almost cuts the cheek.
dazai liked the night. and laying in the grass of an empty park at 3 in the morning wasn't as unusual to him as it would be to an outsider.
who are you?
that was the question. always what ran through his mind. who are you? not his name, not his hobbies. him. to define and determine himself. what was he? who was he? how was he supposed to know?
not human - was his response. always the same, as repetitive as it was. humanity was a struggle, to know when to let yourself feel, and to know when to stop. those unspoken standards seemed to be known by everyone but him.
was he strange for never letting himself feel at all? or would people understand it was easier? difficulties between people - to be misunderstood was his greatest phobia. one to face on the daily. why was it so difficult? so difficult to know?
the grass brushed against his cheek, it was quiet. brunette curls that framed his face now swept back. dazai closed his eyes. maybe he needed the tranquility, maybe he needed to run from it all.
the playground was the best place to be for him. he had never been allowed to step foot in one before - always told he was too mature to need it. he avoided them in the daytime, the sounds of children laughing and playing pretend made his throat sting.
memories and feelings were difficult things to seperate. a sense of nostalgia was something dazai never got a positive thought about. all that was known was violence - and he only felt like a child again when his hands were wrapped around a gun.
he didn't need to play. if he thought hard enough, maybe that younger version of him would leave his chest. maybe it would allow itself to pretend beyond being happy. to be a sailor, a pilot, a knight in heavy armour. to have what it never could grasp. to replace the heavy mind.
pretending was easy, believing was the hard part. it always has been the difficult part. if dazai was to change anything about himself, he'd make himself more gullible. maybe if he pretended hard enough, he'd believe in himself too.
was it so wrong to want to feel human? was it so wrongful to hope for a regular moment? would anyone believe him if he asked?
maybe he just wished to be his own puppeteer. to hold the strings instead of feeling them only wrapped so tightly around his wrist, to know what the weight of a lessened burden felt like. to know a difference from the blood that dripped when the strings cut too deep - when they were tugged too hard.
dazai liked the night. to think about these things without anybody nagging him, that was his wish. the quiet in the air, the smell of the residue of once was during daylight. it was always so quiet.
but you'd changed that.
footsteps through the grass, they interrupted his thinking. opening his eyes to sit up and glance at you. why would somebody else be here? brainrotting about what'd lead someone to where he laid now wasn't a known public hobby. much less in a park.
"..Are you okay?"
the question comes so foreign to dazai. are you okay? how could he even find a response? how long had it been since anyone had asked him that? you were a stranger, and he'd call a bluff against boredom if you didn't have a concerned tone to your voice.
"Don't I look okay?"
he responded. even in the dim light, he noticed the way your eyes widened. if he didn't feel so heavy, he would've put more energy in to smile. to give you the act he put on to any other human being seemed so tiring. and you had to be at least drunk if you were out this late at night anyway.
you don't reply for a moment. dazai picks up on your silence. the wind brushing through his hair like a mothers comforting hand. its the closest he could get to physical affection in his adult years. he'd close his eyes and hum a broken melody to pretend if the unwanted presence of your being wasn't in his mind.
"Who are you?"
who is he. are you trying to kill him?
it's dazai's turn to not respond. russet eyes glancing at yours for only a moment. he couldn't make out any of your features - it was too dark. he would've liked it, usually. but thats when he was on his own. he wasn't used to not being on his own.
what response did you want? what were you expecting to hear? his name? an occupation? the question was so simple - so commonly used and so easy to answer. yet he couldn't. who was he. he didn't want you to know his name, anyway.
you were just a stranger. a stranger standing in a park playground with only the moonlight with enough energy to smile at you. with only the stars to show you all the energy they had. was it depressing? was he being too wasteful?
"I'm not sure." Dazai chuckled, the answer wasn't right, but it was all he could come up with. he wasn't sure - and he never recalled ever being so. maybe that was what made him so different. he'd never had a stable identity, never a real idea of himself.
you don't seem upset with him. nor even slightly mad. it takes him by suprise, if it was anybody he'd known they would've asked for a firmer answer. if it was anybody else, maybe they would've told him who he was.
but you weren't anybody else. you weren't anybody he'd known. you were just a stranger. dazai didn't like that word - but if there was any other term for you, it wasn't coming to him.
he sighed, his breath causing a puffed cloud of white. he hadn't realised just how cold it was, it's not like he was in his own body anyway. his mind was somewhere else, somewhere so far. somewhere he felt safer. he just didn't know where that was to find it.
"We can start with why?" you speak, your tone is hesitant. he hopes he isn't scaring you, he's tired of being scared of. "Why are you here?"
that question isn't any better, either.
would he tell you? was his chest light enough to know if you'd be safe with knowing about him? he didn't know you enough to know if you were worth learning how to answer these questions for.
"To think." Dazai responded, short and simple. it wasn't anything you'd be cared about anyway, maybe it would turn you away. maybe you'd leave. the thought of holding someone else's emotions in your chest with you would surely turn and let him rest. the idea of becoming moss was appealing.
you tilt your head, and he flinches as you step closer and sit beside him. how long had it been since he's sat beside someone like this? how long had it been since he allowed himself to simply exist alongside another?
something about it made him feel more lonely, but he tried to swallow that back.
you don't say anything, simply staying beside him. dazai mentally thanks you for a moment, for not assuming the worse and running. he's sure you're afraid. but so was he.
"I think I read somewhere you shouldn't think too hard about anything after 9pm." you state. it takes him everything not to laugh. had you been gullible? or were you not aware how the world worked? everything continued to run after 9pm. the world didn't stop for anybody, no matter how much they begged.
"Is that so?" The brunette hummed, "That's a rather foolish ideal."
he smiled lightly at the way you squinted. surely you'd agree if it wasn't for such a strong hatred of an outside nihilism.
"Must you be so depressing?" You reply. it catches him so strongly off guard, he finds his breath getting caught in the back of his throat. must he? It's not like he'd practiced any different. you didn't know him to know that. you didn't know to lie to him, or to grin and bare it.
you didn't know dazai.
the thought seems to reach his heart before his mind. you didn't know of him, you didn't know him. to you, he was some strange man laying in a park playground after dark. he wasn't a mafia prodigy to be afraid of, he was just a strange human being.
he doesn't need to be who he knows. you won't need to laugh his words off and know it's what he's always like. you did not know dazai osamu, and you had no idea about his actions or principles.
he nods, mumbling a vaguely sounding sorry. you're right, he shouldn't be so depressing. you didn't know it was commonly just his thing.
"You don't have to be verbal about it."
Dazai looked over at you after you'd spoke, part of him was hoping you'd look back. but your eyes seemed to be focused on the stars above. he would've punched himself for having expectations. he didn't deserve those.
he doesn't recall being verbal about any problems in his entire life. he didn't recall being genuine enough to even listen when he tried to show things physically. feeling like a burden was one thing, but being told was another.
this was the first time in a long while dazai hadn't known what to say. no joking around, no useless puns. and it surely wasn't any appropriate hour for a pickup line.
"..Then what do you think I should do?" He asks you. a shiver runs along his skin, and he cringes at how childish he sounds. dazai had always known what to do - maybe it was time for osamu to try and learn something.
"What do I think?" You look at him. he swears he feels his breath catch at the look in your eyes. he doesn't take it upon himself to analyse what's in them. he just appreciates a gaze that isn't entirely hateful. one that isn't laughing at a lack of knowledge. it's the most humanised he'd ever felt.
"Remember to eat three meals a day, I think. one is okay, if you can't manage that many."
dazai thinks for a moment, his eyebrows reaching a frown. he spent most of his time at home in bed - it was comfortable, a place to ignore and rot. problems didn't need to be solved when he could have a sheet around him and his eyes closed just long enough to convince himself he'd passed away.
maybe he'd have pasta for dinner.
"You can appriciate the rain too." you continue, and it almost shocks him solid to know you're paying him so much mind without asking for anything in return.
"Many people associate rain with misery. but its a wonderful thing. it waters all the plants, it can remind you how lucky you are to not have to be in it."
lucky? dazai didn't think he was lucky. sometimes he'd go out in the nighttime rain with only a coat and a short sleeve t-shirt. to lay down in the park like any other day, to unravel his bandages and feel such a raw sensation on his arms. the chill of the water felt nicer then the punishment intended to a blades edge.
maybe he could appriciate that. to know it was optional - to know it was welcoming enough to let the bugs and the clouds see him at his most vaunrable. the grass suddenly felt like a warm hug despite the cold.
nobody speaks for a moment. nobody has to. he doesn't expect anything of you - and you do not expect anything of him. it's a comfortable silence. one dazai does not feel obligated to fill.
you sit that way for a while. dazai feels a strange sensation in his chest for every second longer you exist with him. why were you doing this? he could easily hurt you, he could easily be somebody dangerous. he's always been somebody dangerous.
but you don't seem afraid. you seem comfortable.
why are you so comfortable? why aren't you afraid?
dazai's hand brushed against the grass. enjoying how it moved under the pads of his fingers - letting himself smile at the thought of all the bugs being so curious about what he was. to them he was human, to them he was like any other child they must scuttle from to hide.
he was somebody to hide from. but being so similar to that of a child ; something that was so foreign to him. something about it made him glad to be here. glad to be existing alongside, glad to learn things from you.
maybe he'd go to the cafe and get a sandwich for lunch.
he felt you shift, looking up to see you. your eyes on his, just like he'd expected before. neither of you look away for a moment. were you curious? did you see his movement and wonder what he was doing?
"...There's bugs in the grass." dazai mumbled. and you laughed.
you laughed.
he looked away, his cheeks heating up. a sense of embarrassment washing over him. was it that funny? was it effortlessly wonderful? he didn't even mean to cause a reaction out of you. but he adored the sound.
"There's bugs everywhere." you say, your voice calmer. he misses the sound almost instantly. "In grass, in houses, on the concrete we walk. they're lovely little creatures, and many don't even mean any harm. they all help us"
all? he winces. dazai doesn't remember the last time a mosquito bit him in an act of trying to assist him. he didn't remember a mosquito biting him at all - ever since the bandages started to appear over his skin more it'd spare him of the itch. but that was besides the point.
most creatures that seemed scary meant well, didn't they? those spiders everybody seemed to scream over - they were just like any human being. most of them try to get by, they keep fly populations slim. its how they look that made them so cursed, that made people so afraid. they were misunderstood.
dazai felt like a spider sometimes.
maybe you weren't laughing at his childishness. perhaps you weren't even curious. for to people watch without a reason wasn't unheard of. he just hoped you weren't there to judge him. it'd be while before he felt so comfortable with another stranger.
you don't speak for a while. neither does he. how strange it was to grieve someone who was still alive.
"It's getting late." you mumble after a while, standing up. he notices the way you brush the grass off your clothes, how you glance down at him for a second too long - his cheeks felt warm as he shifted focus back to the stars. he doesn't respond verbally, simply letting out a hum.
the night doesn't feel any warmer, dazai knows that. the temperature hasn't changed from the moment he left his messy apartment to go to the park in the first place. but there was an odd weight in his chest for once - one he couldn't quite identify. maybe you'd left fingerprints there, he thought.
"You should get back." He looked up at you, regretting the words almost immediately as soon as they left his scarred lips. he didn't want you to leave, you couldn't come, change his perspectives, and leave. it wasn't fair, it just wasn't fair.
could he manage cereal for breakfast?
"Goodnight, I hope you feel better in the morning." You smile - and it's so sincere. dazai suddenly had the urge to rip his chest open. feel better? as if. though he smiles in return, holding a hand out to you. he hopes they aren't too calloused.
"um- osamu. It's been a pleasure."
watching someone walk away had never been difficult. watching someone leave was something he should've been used to. so why did this ache so badly? he looked at his palm, the tingle of your warmth still radiating. it makes him feel sick - he runs his hand through the grass once more.
he hoped to never learn your name. to have a title to miss, a name to carve into his heart, would make it all the worse.
maybe he'll skip tomorrow's meals again after all.

Characters: Dazai and the Armed Detective Agency members.
Synopsis: Dazai isn't used to celebrations for his birthday. Here he is though, celebrating his birthday with the other members of the agency.
Genre: Fluff.
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol for Yosano's part.
Word count: 704 (short oneshot)
Dazai was late, per usual. The agency members didn't seem to mind. Except for Kunikida, of course. Other than that, members expected him to be late.
He walked into the office an hour late, yawning. He only met darkness, though. This confused him. The lights were almost always on at a time like this. Every member should be here. He reached for the light switch, turning it on.
"Happy birthday, Dazai!" All the agency members said in union. Confetti poppers were used. Balloons were around the room.
Dazai's eyes widened. He's never had a birthday celebration. Kyoka went up to dazai, handing him a bunny stuffed animal.
"I like this. I have my own. You should have one too." She spoke in her usual monotonous tone.
Dazai took the bunny from her hands, holding it.
"My, thank you Kyoka."
"Mhm." She put her arms out for him to hug. Dazai smiled slightly, hugging Kyoka. He pat her head softly, ruffling her hair.
She let go and walked over to Atsushi, who gave her a thumbs up.
Yosano handed a bottle of sake to Dazai. "Figured you'd like some. I have bandages for you to, since you keep stealing from my office." She grinned.
He took the bottle, smiling back. "Thanks, Yosano."
Atsushi gave Dazai flowers, thanking Dazai for everything he's done. Dazai set allthe gifts on his desk.
Ranpo shared his candy with Dazai for the day. He rested his head on Dazai's shoulder as they sat on the agency's couch. They spoke about mysteries and cases as they ate candy.
Junichiro took him to the cafe below the agency, paying for him. They spoke for an hour, talking about their interests and hobbies.
Naomi went to an art museum with Dazai, they gazed at the art for a while. They found look alikes of themselves on paintings. Naomi laughed at some paintings. Her laughter is contagious, which eventually made Dazai laugh. People in the art museum glared at them. They laughed loudly and uncontrollably with each other. It took a long time for them to calm down, they almost got kicked out.
Kenji took Dazai to his farm. They went to Kenji's own field, watering the plants. They found flowers together. Kenji made Dazai a flower crown. Dazai wore the flower crown for the rest of the day. Kenji taught Dazai how to press the flowers to keep the flower crown for as long as he wants.
Kunikida hugged Dazai. Kunikida ran his hand through Dazai's hair as they hugged.
"I'm glad you're my partner. I'm proud you're here at the agency with us."
"Thank you, Kunikida."
Dazai hugged Kunikida back, his face against Kunikida's chest. They spoke for half an hour, Kunikida letting go eventually.
Haruno walked up to Dazai near the end of the day.
"The president wanted me to give you this gift. Thank you for working at the agency." She smiled softly, handing him a small box.
A hand written letter from Fukuzawa was in the box.
"Thank you, Dazai, for working at the agency. I commemorate your work. The agency has solved twice as many cases now that you're around, even with Ranpo. Unfortunately, I'm busy at this moment, so I must write this instead of saying this in person. Once I get back, I'll make sure to tell you in person about how proud I am. Have a great birthday." ~ Fukuzawa.
Dazai held the note, smiling. He had an amazing day.
"Thank you, Haruno. For giving me the letter."
"Of course, Dazai. Now, I have one more thing for you."
"Hm? What is it?"
Haruno walked with Dazai into the lunch room. Eventually, Atsushi walked into the room, holding a cake. He set the cake down onto a counter. Fukuzawa walked in after Atsushi.
"We went into the bakery." Fukuzawa patted Dazai's shoulder.
The agency members laughed and smiled throughout the rest of the day. They stayed around Dazai, eating cake and talking.
Dazai left the agency at night. He laid in bed, thinking about the day. He hugged the bunny stuffed animal. He curled up in bed, feeling soft. He loved today. He loved the agency. He felt comfortable and warm.
This was his new home.

Synopsis: Dazai doesn't listen to Kunikida's instructions while working on a case. Dazai gets injured badly. Kunikida cleans his wounds and bandages Dazai. Upset, of course.
Genre: Hurt/ comfort. Angst. Can be read as platonic or romantic. This is meant as romantic, but can be platonic.
Warnings: Dazai being injured. Mentions of death.
Word count: 644 (short oneshot)
A/N: I actually really like this. Then again, I rewrote it a few times to get it how I wanted it. It was originally like one hundred words less.
Kunikida had to clean the injuries on Dazai's arms, legs. Dazai managed to not listen to Kunikida while on a case and got severely injured. He's lucky he's not dead. Then again, he always struggles to do so anyway.
Kunikida cleaned his arms first. The bandages had to be off of Dazai, and there was no way he'd let someone else see his scars besides Kunikida. Kunikida's hands worked diligently, the bandages wrapped nicely. Dazai enjoyed being treated, but he knew Kunikida was quietly seething.
"Why..." Kunikida started, but trailing off. Dazai could hear the anger bubbling inside him. He stayed silent, looking at Kunikida.
"Why didn't you listen?!" He finally yelled out in frustration. Dazai's eyes widened.
"You wouldn't be hurt like this if you had just listened!"
Dazai just laughed nervously. The collar of his shirt was pulled by Kunikida, who was directly staring at him. Dazai hates the feeling of anxiety in him. It's not like Kunikida scares him, he's just never seen him this riled up.
"Is this funny to you? You're hurt, Dazai! You could've been killed as we searched around that building!"
Kunikida was furious. Yet he was also scared. Horrified of losing Dazai. Just because he didn't listen to a few simple words. No one is allowed to die in front of him. A simple few words written is his ideals. He didn't want this to be the time where his ideals mess up.
"Ah, but Kunikida! You're too worried." Dazai said as Kunikida let him go. He anxiously picked at his arm bandages. He smiled at Kunikida, it faltered ever so slightly.
Kunikida saw that, Dazai thought. His mask is falling. He needs to act more normal. Act like he isn't that hurt. Act like Kunikida yelling didn't make him worry for himself. He's fine, so what does it matter to Kunikida?
Kunikida held Dazai's hand. "Don't do that again. Please."
Dazai glanced away from Kunikida. His embarrassment from Kunikida's actions welled up inside him. His hand, an unlovable hand, being held by an idealistic man. How strange of him to feel this way. This wasn't normal.
"Okay, fine."
Kunikida continued to clean the wounds, not wanting them to get infected. They sat in silence for a long time. To Dazai it felt like an eternity. He hates silence.
Kunikida was lucky there was enough bandages. Thankfully Yosano keeps a lot. Mainly because Dazai keeps stealing them.
Dazai hated pain. He wanted to cry at the feeling of the leg wounds being cleaned with a soapy washcloth. His low pain tolerance wasn't helping with the scratchy feeling of the washcloth on his injuries. Nor was it helping with the pain in his arms and legs from the injuries.
He tried his hardest not to whine in pain at the feeling, but of course he managed to. Kunikida stared at him.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing... Everything's fine, Kunikida."
"Are you sure? You can tell me when something is wrong."
"Yeah, yeah. Everything is okay."
"Good. I'm almost done. Don't fret over anything."
Silence continued. Dazai just wanted to curl up already. He was beginning to feel tired yet pained. Kunikida bandaged the rest of Dazai's wounds.
"Finally!" Dazai said as Kunikida finished, standing up.
Dazai was glad to finally be out of the room, stretching as he walked out. Kunikida followed shortly after. They both walked together through the halls, Dazai complaining about how hurt he felt. They took the elevator and went into their main office. Kunikida sat down and worked immediately. Dazai sat at his desk in front of Kunikida's.
The rest of the day went on normally. Dazai teased and poked at Kunikida. Dazai yelled that Kunikida isn't allowed to hurt him this time simply because he's injured. Kunikida simply giving in because he doesn't want to further Dazai's pain. Dazai grinned at Kunikida's defeat.

Synopsis: Dazai tries teaching Chuuya. Chuuya doesn't exactly know colors. Dazai is definitely not a good teacher.
Genre: Fluff, comfort. Just soukoku being silly at fifteen.
Warnings: None.
Word count: 620 (short oneshot)
A/N: My personal headcanon is that Chuuya barely knew much because of the lab. Yes, the Sheep taught him. They just didn't realize the most basic things to them were unknown by Chuuya. I do think he struggled with reading and writing too. He's a quick learner though!
Dazai birthday week 2024!
Chuuya was already fifteen. He only recently got into the Port Mafia. Working alongside Dazai was a nightmare, to say the least. He learned something recently though, before leaving the Sheep. Dazai's eyes were brown. The color quickly became his favorite. After all, it was the first color he really knew of. He never learned much outside of the Sheep. Except for that day he was curious about Dazai's eyes and asked why they looked the way they did. Yuan was pretty shocked knowing about Chuuya not knowing colors. He was kicked out by the others before he could learn more.
Now, Chuuya was in the Port Mafia's library. Dazai pointing to a bunch of things telling him the color. Dazai picked up a colorful picture book from the kids section.
"Okay! Let's learn some colors!" Dazai was practically esctatic to do this. Strange, considering how he acts normally.
"Mhm." Chuuya wasn't very happy to do this. Especially with Dazai. He wished Yuan was with him, teaching him like he always did. He knew Yuan would never talk to him now, though.
Dazai and Chuuya sat next to each other as Dazai pointed at a bunch of colors and told him what they were. Chuuya didn't really understand though. There was so many colors with so many names.
"You're terrible at this!" Chuuya finally shouted.
"What?! Me? Chuuya, I'm helping you!" Of course Dazai started whining and acting shocked.
"I don't understand! There's too many colors, and too many names. You suck at this!"
"I'll focus on different colors one at a time then. Maybe your small brain will finally understand it."
"My brain isn't small!"
Dazai stood up, put the picture book back, and came back with a new one. A book that he couldn't quite read the title of properly. It looked beautiful, though. He liked this color.
"Okay, Chibi. This is a book that's all about blue. Got it? Blue." Dazai said, flipping through the pages. There were bright blues and dark blues. It was a pretty book. He liked it.
"Why are there so many different blue colors?" Chuuya asked. It just peaked his interest, seeing the different variants.
"Because of shades. Or maybe it's the value? Eh, whatever. Just know they all look similar enough." Dazai really had no idea what he was talking about. Chuuya didn't mind. He'd find out later.
Dazai lazily flipped through the book. He was pretty surprised Chuuya was actually enjoying looking at all the pages. It was one color, he thought. What's so special about it?
"Your eyes are blue." Dazai stated. He wondered if Chuuya knew that or not. Maybe he's so small even his brain is tiny.
"Are they?" Chuuya was happy about it. For some reason Dazai didn't know.
Dazai grabbed Chuuya's arm.
"Yeah, they are. I'll show you."
Dazai walked with Chuuya all the way to the hallway with a mirror standing at the end of it. They held hands as they walked, not even realizing they were. Dazai pointed at Chuuya's eyes.
"They really are blue!" Chuuya was way too excited to know about this small detail.
"Did you think I'd lie?"
"You do that a lot."
"Not true!"
Dazai spoke more about colors by the mirror. He mentioned Chuuya's hair and how it's orange and teased him for it.
Eventually, they walked to the library again. They learned about a few more colors at their seats, the blue book still out.
It was past midnight as they grew tired. They fell asleep, Chuuya's head on Dazai's shoulder. Dazai's head on Chuuya's. They slept soundly through the night.
They were found in the morning by Kouyou, who took a picture, forever capturing the moment.

Dazai birthday week 2024!
Dazai and Chuuya lied on a couch. Chuuya's head on Dazai's shoulder. It was night as they hugged each other.
"Chuuya? Are you awake?" Dazai asked, though he was sure Chuuya was.
"Mhm. Why?"
"I was wondering why you chose to date me." This thought always lingered in the back of Dazai's mind. Sometimes it worried him. Today, he's fine with asking. It's seems like Chuuya is in a calm mood. He'll be fine with this question, right?
"Don't you know why? I figured you were smart, 'Samu."
Dazai heard the sleepy voice Chuuya had. He always liked it. He'll probably ask Chuuya for a moment like this again, he thought.
"I love you, of course. I've always liked you. It started when we were fifteen. We were already partners in the Port Mafia then." Chuuya spoke calmly, not a worry in his tone. He looked up at Dazai.
"Yeah, but why'd you pursue me anyway? You know how I am."
"I knew I could get you somehow. Even if it meant having to corner you and tell you how I feel. You're very obvious about your feelings sometimes."
Chuuya was right, of course. Dazai always had a small blush when talking to Chuuya. At least when they were younger, anyway.
Dazai got closer to Chuuya. He hugged Chuuya tighter. He loved today.
Chuuya then wrapped his arms around Dazai's neck, moving closer to his face. Dazai could feel his heart beating faster.
"Chuuya, what're you— mph..."
Chuuya kissed him. His lips pressed against Dazai's. It was tender and soft. It lasted only for a few seconds, but it had Dazai blushing brightly. He felt weak already. He hugged Chuuya tighter. Chuuya's hands were in Dazai's hair, playing with the strands gently.
"I love you." Chuuya whispered to Dazai, grinning as he pulled Dazai in for another kiss.

Dazai birthday week 2024!
Dazai sat on the bed. He forgot to put on his bandages last night. He looked at his scars. Some healed, some not. His room was still dark, the curtains closed. Dazai had to get to work at 10 AM. The time? 1 PM. He lied back down and sighed. His eyes widened at the sound of his apartment door opening. He sat back up. Kunikida walked in his room a few minutes later.
"Are you seriously still in bed? Dazai, you were supposed to be at work four hours ago!" Kunikida said, annoyed.
"I'll get up now," Dazai sighed. "just give me a minute."
Dazai got up and went to the bathroom. He brushed his hair and grabbed the bandages that were on his sink. He wrapped his arms around the bandages. He struggled. This sucked, he thought. He took off the bandages and tried again. This time it was too tight. He tried again.
"Alright, what's taking you so long?" Kunikida barged in.
Kunikida paused, his eyes widening. Dazai's sleeves were up, his scars visible. Dazai stared back at Kunikida.
"I'm.. I'm so sorry, Dazai. I won't look." Kunikida looked away, turning around.
"No, it's fine." Dazai said. Dazai was never bothered by Kunikida's presence. He didn't mind. He liked Kunikida anyway. "Now, can you help?"
"With what?" Kunikida looked back at Dazai. Noticing the bandages. He realized and nodded.
Kunikida walked up to Dazai. Taking the bandages, he held Dazai's arm out. They've only been together for a few months. Dazai was already more comfortable near Kunikida. Kunikida wrapped the bandages gently. He was surprisingly good at this. He finished up wrapping the bandages. He did this again for Dazai's other arm.
"Let me know if you ever need help again, Dazai."
"I will, Kunikida!"
Kunikida held Dazai's face, leaning slightly down. He kissed Dazai softly.
"Let's head to work now. You're already very late." Kunikida told Dazai, holding his hand.
They walked out the door and headed to the agency.
