The idea that Elphaba can sense Glinda post wfg is so bittersweet. Does she sense when Glinda cries over her death, grieving her, yearning to see her again? Does she sense when Glinda studies the grimmerie, dedicating her life to fufill her promise to her? Does she sense those small moments of happiness that finally appear in the months after her death? No matter how far she is from Oz, she can’t escape Glinda. Not when her handprint is engraved in her heart. I wonder if the connection becomes stronger everytime Glinda’s magic progresses and then maybe Glinda begins to sense Elphaba too, not as strongly but enough that she starts to believe that Elphaba is alive.
I think it’s kind of like the message on the cereal boxes: “Two halves of the whole heart”
They share a heart and might have been sensing the others’ emotions since the beginning without realizing it. Like at the Ozdust, I don’t think Glinda was just feeling guilty, I think she was feeling Elphaba’s pain too. It’s impossible for them to hurt the other without also hurting themselves.
Elphaba will sense Glinda’s pain if she spends the rest of her life depressed. And if Elphaba becomes miserable wherever she is, Glinda will sense it even if she doesn’t realize what it means. Their connection won’t let just one of them have a happy ending.
[Elphaba] closes the door and and it's this sort of like smile for her and keep it and be strong and it's going to be okay. She shuts the door and the breakdown, the both we have. Neither one of us knew that was happening on the other side of the door. We can't see each other. That's a door that is closed on her. And we're blind. I didn't know that she did that. I didn't. We both did it at the same time. And [Jon M. Chu] just basically caught so that he could film it for real. He had a camera shooting in in profile for us. So he shoots this, he shoot that, and then when we shot the door closing, he shot it in profile. So he could see both of us, but we couldn't see each other. — Cynthia Erivo via The Official Wicked Podcast
if you’re having a bad day just remember that glinda upland is having a substantially worse one (she just lost her wife to a bucket of water thrown onto her by a twelve-year-old girl and now she’s forever locked within the vicious cycle of her own self-curated image alongside the immense and almost certainly lifelong guilt over not being able to save her old school roommate, who came into the world unloved and left it similarly unloved. only that’s not entirely accurate, because glinda loved her. loves her. but there’s nothing heavier in this life than a love that will never see the light of day)

"for a moment, or ten, she was back at shiz, darting up some alley of flowering quinces, racing Elphaba to the fountain at the back of the quad. Elphaba was glowing with the effort--glowing emerald!--and Glinda, in her dream, was absent to herself, caught up in admiring her friend." -gregory maguire, out of oz
i had to update the classic popular line

i'm still endlessly entertained by glinda being the wizard's shiny, pink, glittery bargaining chip which he dangles in front of elphaba like an enticing bone. he's like "oh you want this bedazzled freak so bad" and elphaba, unfortunately, does.
MKM's acting choices truly amuse the hell out of me
something something glinda blames herself for elphaba dying something something no one mourns the wicked something knight glinda something something she's wearing her gf's cloak
hold out, my sweet
so like. mickey loves haline, obviously.. second, third, fourth and fifth drawings are from attrition by @festivating and sixth and seventh are from truest north

do you ever think about how because elphaba kisses glinda while they're 18/19ish and tells her to hold out, glinda then condemns herself to a life of mediocrity and unfulfilled potential, always holding out hoping that elphie might just come back for her and save her, never quite being able move on or actually dedicate herself to finding her. so shes just sits there harboring all of this pent up gay yearning, not actually being fucking useful, and then when she and elphie finally do reunite, elphie--who's been nurturing a borderline religious obsession with her since they parted--sees that glinda didn't turn into the person she believed she could be, and a combination of frustration at glinda, paranoia and trauma, a tendency to run from her loved ones, and anger that glinda gave her sister's shoes to a child in a half assed attempt to protect said child leave the two of them at an impasse, one that elphaba can't find it in her to mend atp. and then the child glinda tried to help fucking kills elphie, and glinda's appointed acting throne minister for some reason, and even so she never really lives up to who she could've been, and always holds out this hope that maybe, just maybe, elphie will come back to save her
And then Elphie probably does comes back in The Brides of Maracoor series—Rain magic-FaceTimes Elphie, who answers with someone heavily implied to be Glinda in tow (who we last see imprisoned saying “you wicked thing it took you long enough”), tells her “we gtfo of Oz, lose this number lol I’m so serious,” and hangs up on her.
Because Gregory Maguire wanted them to be more canon that badly. #iconthatyouare 😭
Don't look at me I don't even know how to use it lmfao
