So many western people, who sympathize with fucking "ordinary russians", are actually deep in their hearts align themselves with russians more, than with Ukrainians. Because they know that they are/were oppressors themselves, so the struggles of "simple people" from the "big bad state" are closer and more understandable for them than struggles of people from the country fighting occupation. Nobody can convince me otherwise. The question is: do they really want to stay on the side of oppressors, or can they acknowledge and process their history and politics, and choose to actively firmly side with the victims?
As well as every other person in Ukraine, my life and my future were irreversibly damaged by russians. My country is mutilated by russians. We are suffering right now and we don't see the end anytime soon because of each and every russian.
I don't want to have anything to do with russians, I'm not interested in any kind of collaboration with them.
Everyone is defined by their country/-ies. There are no "good russians".
I'm disgusted that anyone could think that my post is the right place to appeal to the russians - it was written with the opposite purpose. Don't use any of my words or creations to have any discussion with them.

the reason why russia needs ukraine to be a part of it is because its fundamental national myth is built on the idea that modern russia is a successor to kyivan rus. that's it. not because of nato borders, not because of banderites, or biolabs, or whatever else they feed the west to try and legitimize this war, but because of a fascistic need to establish their country as one that is built on ancient history and long tradition. this is why they deny ukrainian identity and language, this is why they kidnap and russify ukrainian children, this is why, on occupied territories, they burn ukrainian books, kidnap and torture people for speaking ukrainian, and start teaching russian language and literature in schools. because the existence of russian nationalism depends on ukrainians not being real.
Iâm once again thinking about that the Inkworld and the Mirrorworld is the same world and are therefore pacing across my room while muttering about moons
For context the mirrorworld have 2 moons and the inkworld seems to only have one (if the color of revenge explains that I havenât read that one yet SHAME ON ME) PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS AN EXPLANATION
Anyway Iâve always felt itâs the same world in my heart (my first reaction to reading reckless was that it felt like returning home to the inkworld) but I canât wrap my brain around the amount of moons.
The exact number of those moons was driving me crazy! I'm not able to reread the whole Inkworld trilogy now, and I strictly remember two moons (one regular and one red) in Mirrorworld.
That extra moon is such a big distinction between our world and Mirrorworld, and since Cornelia Funke stroked us with multiuniverse, I was going feral! Nothing comes to my mind so relevant about the moon_s in the Inkworld. Where is your red moon, Inkfolks?! No wonder there are no goyls for many miles around Ombra - for them there is nothing to look at!
Personally I read the whole Inkworld territory as an anomaly area in the Mirrorworld, like some fairytalish Stalker zone. That, and the 500+ years apart from the Mirrorworld we know can explain different species, flora and fauna.
As someone who read Inkheart until 400 pages into Inkdeath and then stopped back as a teen and read the entire Reckless/MirrorWorld series so far several times for about 16 years long and counting I can confirm InkWorld and MirrorWorld are more closely related than people think. I realised they were by the third book of Reckless and lost it.
I mean there's literally a guy in the Tzar's palace I remember and his name was Molotov something.
Sound familiar? Who else has ''Mo'' in his name? OH RIGHT- Mortimer Folchart! There was also talk about a book read aloud by a princess and she read a flipping dragon out of it. Within the MirrorWorld that is.
The new illustration from Reckless book 5 (still in progress) Cornelia shared which I shared the link of here on my sideblog confirms it even more!
They are the side of the very same coin with InkWorld being MirrorWorld's past and MirrorWorld being InkWorld's future.
Omg, hi! Since the fandom is so small, I feel the need to introduce myself as well.
I'm a Mirrorworld fan since the publishing of the first Reckless book (in my case it is 2011, since i had to wait for transportation back then), I'm just too shy to talk.
I'm from Ukraine, and, unfortunately, we don't have our Reckless translation yet, but we had an Inkworld books back in... I think, in 2012 (with horrible covers, I must admit), and we already republished Inkworld translation in 2025, so there is a huge hope for the Reckless as well.
And I definitely need to have more content about the lore, cause it's just such a badass move to pull the actually-it-was-the-same-world-all-the-time-just-different-time-lines, and I'm really intrigued how Cornelia will write her way through all the following questions.

Thinking of the larger context of LOTR and like, the fellowship swapping old war stories and shit and Sam just says âYeah I killed a huge spiderâŚShelob, I think?â
And Gandalf just blinks and is like, âYou what now?â
âYeah, killed it. Had to save Frodoâ
Gandalf elects not to tell Sam that he killed the spawn of a primordial demon.
the daughter of the embodiment of darkness which ate the original sun and moon and almost ate the devil.
That's not important. What is important is that it was a danger to Mister Frodo.
Time for me to info dump about Sam and Shelob.
In lord of the rings lore, there are three tiers of deities. The highest tier and most dangerous includes Morgoth - Sauronâs master, and Ungoliant, Shelobâs master. The middle tier includes Shelob, Sauron. Then thereâs the lowest tier, which includes the wizards Gandalf and Saruman as well as the Balrog (this is why Gandalf couldnât 1v1 the Balrog). It also explains why Gandalf doesnât take the ring, the magic of a tier 2 deity would absolutely corrupt him. We even see that happen with Saruman and the Palantir.
This leads to the start of the answer to some interesting questions. Why does Sauron tolerate Shelob being in his territory, and why does Sauron tolerate there being a secret back door into Mordor?
On the surface, he does it because he might not be able to beat Shelob in a fight, after all theyâre the same tier of deity. And since Shelobâs domain is the secret way into Mordor, he canât close it off, and he seriously doubts anyone can use it to get in. He doesnât monitor the path with guards either - Shelob would eat them.
It gets more detailed than that though. Sauronâs boss, Morgoth, and Shelobâs boss, Ungoliant, made a deal. Theyâd attack the tree of life together. Morgoth would drink the nectar, and Ungoliant would keep all of the jewels and magic they earned along the way. Morgoth broke this deal because there was a particularly powerful gem he wanted (the gem in Sauronâs helmet), and as a result Ungoliant went to war with Morgoth.
Ungoliant won, Morgoth barely escaped with his life.
So not only does Sauron maybe lose if he attacks Shelob. Even if he were to win, it might provoke Ungoliant into attacking Morgoth again, and Ungoliant wins that fight, sheâs already done it once.
With all of that established, how the hell does Sam hurt a deity that powerful?
Well, to start, itâs impossible. Shelobâs hide is so tough Sam could never pierce it with all his might. However, Shelob had grown old and arrogant. During the fight, Sam winds up directly underneath Shelob, and Shelob decides to crush Sam with all her strength.
Unfortunately, Sam is pointing sting straight up.
While Sam lacks the strength to hurt Shelob, Shelob herself is plenty strong. She accidentally impales herself on sting, finding herself injured for the first time in thousands of years. Which is the sort of poetry I really appreciate about Tolkienâs writing.
No matter how powerful or evil or ancient or indestructible your foe, if you stand for what is right and hold your sword out, they will impale themselves upon it.
Samâs backstory in this scene is much simpler. He has to save Frodo.
I love it when tolkien fans reblog posts with the deep lore receipts. Thank you
I love these analyses and learning something new about one of my favourites pieces of fantasy.
Also, you shouldn't hide these gems in the notes:
"#3even funnier when you realize shelob probably has no idea what a hobbit is #like thereâs just this strange tiny thing in her lair #itâs got a bunch of powerful elven shit #did elves get small when she wasnât looking?"
i love laura palmer
