EDIT: Since this just got reblogged by a bitch ass (now blocked) motherfucker:
Trans women are women. Trans men are men. People are whatever they say they are.
TERFs should not bother reblogging my posts, since I am as queer as they come, have multiple trans identities, and make out regularly with my nonbinary ace spouse. Go away.
Thanks. Back to the OG post:
I’m posting this here even though it’s not politics, because I’m just. Really adverse to putting discourse on main. And I gotta say this.
The reaction of the fanbase to Frankie being confirmed cis makes me feel unsafe, as both a trans man and as an autistic person. And while the queer side of things has been discussed, I haven’t seen anyone mentioning the latter part.
“Dana’s tweet was worded badly and it should’ve been worded better!”
I read it. It was a show creator confirming that a character was cis, after being asked directly if the character was trans or cis. The creator then went on to explain that the character uses multiple nicknames.
Where was the bad wording? Because I didn’t see anything there that was, to paraphrase some of the complaints I’ve seen, “shooting down trans headcanons.”
“Oh well she should’ve said that people can headcanon it still!”
… she didn’t say you couldn’t? Headcanons are just that. Headcanon. Non-canon but believed. Same as it would’ve been had she worded the post transphobically.
I don’t know. As an autistic person who immediately was excited to see this beautiful work of art, I’m terrified of the fandom, because it seems the immediate reaction to a single tone misplaced is people accusing you of transmisogyny. Which. Seems. Not fantastic.
