Some of the best signs from the science day march.
Amazing!
An angel
Itâs beautiful how people with autism are typically so much more spatially advancedâŚmy little cousin has memorized all the freeway systems in California and heâs like 9
From memoryâŚ. Let that sink inâŚI barely remember myself
WHAT omfg thatâs so amazing!
Omg I watched this documentary years ago and I was just completely floored! This guy is beyond amazing! What no one mentioned is that this drawing is unbelievably accurate and proportionally to scale. He has the exact number of windows, floors, doors, etc on each building. And someone measured it and everything was to scale and geographically correct. On all of his drawings he has the exact number right even from just looking at a building for two minutes.
Whatâs even more amazing is that he used to be almost completely nonverbal and through his art heâs been able to become completely independent and self-sufficient and is now a successful artist who owns his own gallery where he sells his drawings and people come from all over to buy his art. He is fully verbal and communicative and most people who meet him donât even realize that he has autism.
This dude is literally the coolest most incredible guy ever!
Oh and I forgot to add that he did this drawing in under five days (it might have even been three days but I canât remember)!
Here are a few of his drawings
Like I said, this dude is fucking amazing.
@paintedcowboy
I had seen the top part of this post, but not the rest of his work.
Thank you.
Whoa, amazing
Reblogging because heâs awesome!!!
never seen the rest of it omg the London ones are gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning đđžđ
I think itâs very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person.

Whoa, I didnât realize that it was so deliberate, I honestly thought it was unconscious
Scary, scary.
Gonna add on to this: From the other side of the bar, I see this crap all the time. Seriously. I work at a high-density bar, and let me tell you, I have anywhere from 10-20 guys every night come up and tell me to, âserve her a stronger drink, Iâm trying to get lucky tonight, know what I mean?â usually accompanied with a wink and a gesture at a girl who, in my experience, is going to go from mildly buzzed to definitively hammered if I keep serving her. Now, I like to think Iâm a responsible bartender, so I usually tell guys like that to piss off, and, if I can, try to tell the girlâs more sober friends that they need to keep an eye on her. But everyone- just so you know, most of the time, when someone you donât know is buying you a drink, theyâre NOT doing it out of a sense of cordiality, theyâre buying you a drink for the sole purpose of making you let your guard down. So:
Tips for getting drinks-
1. ALWAYS GO TO THE BAR TO GET YOUR OWN DRINK, DO NOT LET STRANGERS CARRY YOUR DRINKS. This is an opportune time for dropping something into your cocktail, and youâre none the wiser.
2.IF YOU ORDER SOMETHING NON-ALCOHOLIC, I promise you, the bartender doesnât give two shits that youâre not drinking cocktails with your friends, and often, totally understands that you donât want to let your guard down around strangers. Usually, you can just tell the bartender that youâd like something light, and thatâs a big clue to us that youâre uncomfortable with whomever youâre standing next to. Again, we see this all the time.
3. If youâre in a position to where you feel uncomfortable not ordering alcohol:
Hereâs a list of light liquors, and mixers that wonât get you drunk, and will still look like an actual cocktail:
X-rated + sprite = easy to drink, sweet, and 12% alcoholic content. Not strong at all, usually runs $6-$8, depending on your state.
Amaretto + sour= sweet, not strong, 26%.
Peach Schnapps+ ginger ale= tastes like mellow butterscotch, 24%.
Melon liquor (Midori, in most bars) + soda water = not overly sweet, 21%
Coffee liquor (Kahlua) +soda = not super sweet, 20%.
Hope this helps someone out!
Backing this up from years of bar tending.
Shirley temples and Roy Rodgers are just soda drinks. And have no alcohol and will normally go over someoneâs head that itâs not going to get you drunk !

Did you know that you can make houses out of plastic bottles? By filling them with sand, and molding them together with mud or cement, the walls created are actually bullet proof, fire proof, and will maintain an comfortable indoor temperature of 64 degrees in the summer time.
And itâs not like there is any shortage on used plastic bottles out there. Here are some statistics from treehugger.com:
âThe United States uses 129.6 Million plastic bottles per day which is 47.3 Billion plastic bottles per year. About 80% of those plastic bottles end up in a landfill!â
To build a two bedroom, 1200 square foot home, it takes about 14,000 bottles.
The United States throws away enough plastic bottles to build 9257 of these 2 bedroom houses per day! Thatâs just over 3.35 million homes, the same number of homeless people in America.
Many people in third world countries have taken up building homes out of plastic bottles, from Africa to Asia. Perhaps the trend will catch on in America and all of those bottles will stop ending up in the landfills. Wouldnât they be better off housing the homeless? Kinda like all those empty houses scattered all over the country?
We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we donât function as were meant to be. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache ⌠The absence of love and belonging will always lead to suffering.

My grandparents left their home country as children when they heard the whispering of antisemitism starting in their home town. They got out and fled to America so I and future generations could be safe from persecution and mass murder. Only 2 generations ago.
And now America is becoming that country that they probably would have fled.
If you are not resisting, you are part of the problem.
And yes, I want non-Jews to reblog
Except Iâm sorry but itâs not is it? A couple thousand white dudes babbling about jew conspiracies is not equal to Hitler and the holocaust no matter what. A couple thousand vs a few million? Your country isnât fucking dumb. They FOUGHT to SAVE your kind and lost tens of thousands of men in the process. How about, fucking stop making it sound like the majority is Nazi and actually do some research. Jesus fucking christ.
Funny, since the Russians freed more prison camps than the US, including Auschwitz. The US didnât care about the camps, they cared about fighting the ally of their declared enemy, Japan. And the US almost sided with the Nazis and had a large Nazi party in our boarders all the way up until (and even a little after) we entered the war.
Also do you know how large the Nazi party was at itâs peak? Just 7% of the German population. Smaller numbers donât mean shit when they have people that aid and abet them by saying shit like âoh donât worry they are too few to do harm.â
âMy kindâ have centuries of actual oppression running through our history, we can sense when something has changed and when itâs coming (back, again), itâs in our blood. Our grandparents and great-grandparents always told us to always have a bag packed, because they were afraid this would happen. âMy kindâ always know they will come for us again.
Hell, this isnât some âoversensitive Tumblrina sjwâ thing, hereâs an actual Auschwitz survivor: âI see men, hatred on their faces, with torches in parades and screaming, just like the Nazis did to us years ago. I see torture and violence and swastikas and I was brought back to the worst moments of my life. I couldnât believe they were speaking English, that this was in Charlottesville. I thought this nightmare was in the past, way in the past.â
Offense but why does literally every dude that says stuff like âoh theyâre not actually Real Nazisâ âoh so you call everyone you disagree w/ a Naziâ like why are you all so hilariously uneducated and unable to see things as they are? Literally none of them have ever known what theyâre even fucking talking about lmao
Most comments that call Trump Hitler are referring to 1933 Hitler, when he first ran for office and later seized power, who drew an enormous euphoric fan following based on hating a particular religious group and a political slogan that roughly translates to Make Germany Great Again. His solution to Jewish people started with encouraging them to emigrate, identification tags, then moving them to the Jewish Ghettos âto be monitoredâ and eventually to more secure concentration camps. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE was mentioned by Trump or his closest allies as a solution for the âproblemâ of Muslims in America during his campaign. It took Hitler until January 1940 to authorize the Final Solution, which started the death camps as an official government policy. How much do you think Trump could do to Muslims in about 7 years if given the chance, all before any organized killings begin.
Similarly, the Nazi Party in the early 1930âs was just thought of as a joke, a few angry people due to the bad economy (to the level which would make the Great Recession we just experienced look like a cloudy day) and the need to place the blame for that on a particular group of people. The Nazis gradually grew their support base until they had about 30% support while those in the middle were divided, actually giving them 50% support and allowing them to do whatever they wanted. Germany rapidly went from probably the most liberal place in the world in the 1920âs to becoming the most hateful and murderous place a decade later.
THIS^^^^^^^
When non-Jewish people try to speak over Jewish people I throw up in my mouth a little and hope they get mono
Also, sorry (but actually not at all) to add to the pile on, but until youâve experienced antisemitism, until youâve stood there hearing people scream âkill the Jewsâ one state away from your hometown, until youâve spent even an ounce of time looking into the many ways in which Jewish people are threatened in the West, sit down and shut up.
And while youâre sitting, take a moment to think over the ways weâre afraid of you. Think of how terrifying it is for us when people brush off the term Nazi and call it overused. Think of how we all grew up knowing that we have always been hated by some, that we will always be hated. Think about how those few Nazis destroyed our culture, so much so that the global Jewish population may never recover. Think about how they murdered us for no reason, and then, for one instant, one single second, try to understand why we are terrified.
âThe Nazis gradually grew their support base until they had about 30% support while those in the middle were divided, actually giving them 50% support and allowing them to do whatever they wanted.â
IS THIS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE US NOW???
Look at every single one of Trumpâs approval ratings. Heâs at about 35%. About 1 in every 3 human beings is a fucking monster.
The only thing stopping history from repeating itself is us.
(And to my Jewish followers: if it comes to it, I will hide you.)

Some reminders for mentally ill Christians:Â
- Your illness is not a sin.
- Your illness is not a punishment by God.
- Prayer is powerful and good but please donât believe that you need to pray instead of getting professional help. Pray and take your medication. Pray and go to your therapist/doctor. Â
- God gave us medication and therapy (He led humans to inventing it). Using it is not âgoing against Gods planâ, itâs using the resources God provided for us.Â

Outtakes from the interview.
AU where Dumbledoreâs Army uses the Chamber of Secrets instead of the Room of Requirement
Ultimate security as Harry is the only one capable of opening it.Â
Myrtle proudly spending her time acting as a guard/lookout.Â
Later, Harry diligently teaching Ron, Hermione, and a few choice others, like Neville, how to mimic parseltongue so that they can open it too.Â
Muggleborns experiencing vicious satisfaction that theyâre using this chamber as a place of education and defense, reclaiming the very space Slytherin built to rid the school of their presence.Â
Hermione methodically dismantling the basiliskâs corpse, covertly selling the priceless ingredients to potion masters, using the funds to continue their work - buying books and battle robes and new wands for those who canât afford it.Â
(Hermione saving a portion of those ingredients for her own research, straightening in triumph when she learns what basilisk venom does to horcruxes, knowing she has vials of it hidden up in her room).Â
Harry reverently adding the Chamber of Secrets to the Marauderâs Map, proudly continuing his familyâs work and reveling in the difference theyâre making.Â
These students - these kids - choosing to train in a dark, horrifying place that was never meant for them. Learning spells amongst shadows, growing stronger in inches of murky water, the smell of a decomposing corpse in their noses, memories of all that had happened here haunting them. They know this is what war is really like and it helps to push them forward. Â
Updating this because people have brought up some REALLY GREAT plot-holes and I like trying to flesh out my AUs sooooooooâŚ
Ginny is the one who suggests using the Chamber. Of course she is. Harry isnât the type to think of that, but for Ginny⌠for Ginny the Chamber still haunts her dreams, too often, and sheâs furious that a part of the castle is restricted to her - a part of her home that she wants to avoid. She suggests the Chamber, partly for the DAâs benefit, mostly for her own.Â
Visibility is a concern - what if someone sees them going into the girlâs restroom? They think itâs a serious issue until Ron starts laughing. No one comes near that bathroom anymore, he says. Not ever. It was barely an issue while brewing a month long polyjuice potion, Ron and Harry popping in and out to add ingredients or to stir. Now though? Now that Myrtle has stepped up her game (shrieking, flooding the room if someone unwanted comes near), now that Hogwarts is infused with rumors that Harry fought a basilisk right in there, now that the nearby corridor still has a bloody, horrifying message that even the professors havenât been able to erase*⌠well, students avoid the area like the plague.Â
Even if they didnât, the House Elves help them out. Dobby did, after all, suggest the Room of Requirement before Ginny brought up the Chamber. Who better than the workers who see but are not seen to help the DA keep watch?Â
The castle helps too. By now it knows Harry and desperately wants to protect its students. More than once Umbridge follows a DA member, only to find the staircase moving unexpectedly, taking her in another direction entirely. Sometimes thereâs even a door directly beside the lavatory - appearing out of nowhere - that students can slip inside if they feel the needâŚÂ
Getting out is the other concern. At first they think to bring brooms or levitate one another out⌠but thatâs just not practical. Then, one of the Hufflepuffs asks the obvious and yet oddly illusive question: how did Salazar get out? They start a search and by the end of the day theyâve found at least four hidden exits.Â
One exit leads out into the Forbidden Forest, a space thatâs not nearly as terrifying as it once was. Harry speaks quietly to Firenze and secures the help of the centaurs for when they need safe passage late at night. One day they encounter a group of acromantulas⌠and Harry learns of Hagridâs strict new rule - friends of Hagrid are never food, no matter how easy the prey. The students donât realize it, but theyâre slowly gaining allies. Those in the forest begin to take notice of the children who walk both bravely and respectfully through their trees.Â
(And one day when theyâre too tired to walk back, a familiar blue car pulls up and throws open its doors. Ron cheers like a maniac. Ginny laughs and threatens to tell their dad).Â
Though the exists are great, itâs Hermione who realizes the Chamberâs true benefit - it lies outside of Hogwartâs apparition zone. How can it not? Godric, Helga, and Rowena didnât know of its existence when they first made the wards. So now the DA can go with ease, they just canât pop in from anywhere else in the castle. Which is, admittedly, perfect. Apparition lessons begin in earnest.Â
(And during the Battle of Hogwarts, DA members take Slytherin students by the hand - those who wouldnât, couldnât, fight their own families. They take them down to the Chamber and tell them to apparate out. Leave while you still can. Keep safe).Â
Harry realizing that parseltongue is easily imitated and coming up with an actual password that has to be spoken, one linked to a spell too. It helps that the snakes around the entrance are semi-sentient and are loyal to their new master. They know whoâs meant to go down there and whoâs not.Â
Neville joking one day that they should be learning how to use swords, considering thatâs how the original battle down here was won. Harry takes it seriously. Not the swords bit, but using physical/muggle fighting techniques on wizards who are too reliant on their magic. They begin reading up on hand-to-hand combat and knives.Â
Harry needing to test their progress and getting a really stupid idea⌠but honestly, those often work out in his favor. So one sunny, Saturday morning - when everyone else is lounging outside - Harry sneaks the DA into the third floor corridor. Fluffy is gone, as is the mirror, but the rest remains, no doubt left in case Dumbledore ever had to guard something else precious. Hermione, Ron, and Harry spend the day supervising, teaching their peers how to react under pressure, think through situations, and rely on one anotherâs skills.Â
And then one day things get weird (because they always do with Harry) when he realizes that the miniature chamber the basilisk was kept in is the only part of their hideout theyâd yet to explore. See, given their rarity, itâs unsurprising that wizardkind knows so little about basilisks - not that they reproduce asexually or that only a parseltongue can hatch the egg. So when Harry crawls into the chamber, and finds a strange egg-like object nestled there, that begins pulsing a soft green color in his presence, and when he basically says, âWhat the hellâŚ?â out loud, and when it comes out in parseltongue because he is surrounded by snake thingsâŚwell, letâs just say a few minutes later Harry crawls back out, very sheepish, a baby basilisk cooing around his neck. He laughs pretty shakily and mutters something about finding their mascot.Â
(And they name the beast - because of course they do - and Hermione invents a soft device to cover its eyes and feeding it is an absolute horror⌠but they do grow to love their âmascot.â And during the Battle - when Harry is off in the forest and Hogwarts is losing badly - no one is more surprised than the Death Eaters when Ron and Hermione come tearing out of the school riding a goddamn fully grown basilisk. Hermione rips off the cover on its eyes and sets to work).Â
* âIn the book, it says that Filch could not get the messages written by Ginny off of the wall. It is unknown if he ever did, and it has not been mentioned since.â
Fucking love this

fucked up how cooking and baking from scratch is viewed as a luxuryâŚ..like baking a loaf of bread or whatever is seen as something that only people with money/time can do. Iâm not sure why capitalism decided to sell us the idea that we canât make our own damn food bc itâs a special expensive thing thatâs exclusive to wealthy retirees but itâs stupid as hell and it makes me angry
bread takes like max 4 ingredients counting water and sure it takes a couple hours but 80% of that is just waiting around while it does the thing and you can do other things while itâs rising/baking plus im not gonna say baking cured my depression bc it didnât but man is it hard to feel down when youâre eating slices of fresh bread you just made yourself. feels like everythingâs gonna be a little more ok than you thought. itâs good.
bread is amazing and itâs also been sold to us as something really hard to make? Every time I tell someone I made a loaf of bread I get reactions like âyou made it yourself???â and âdo you have a bread machine then?â I havenât touched a bread machine in probably 10 years. You CAN make your own bread, folks, and itâs actually pretty cheap to do so. I believe the most expensive thing I needed for it was the jar of yeast. It was about $6 at the grocery store and lasted me MONTHS (just keep it in the fridge.) The packets are even cheaper. destroy capitalism. bake your own bread.
You can also make your own yeast by making a sourdough starter, so that cuts cost even more.
But you have to feed the starter daily/weekly and that means it grows quickly, but there are tons of recipes online for what to do with your excess starter. Cookies, pretzels, crackers, pancakes, waffles, you name it!!
Hereâs a link to The Home Baking Associationâs site. It has recipes and tips.
Make it even easier - âNo-Knead Breadâ. All YOU do is mix the ingredients together and wait until itâs time to heat the oven. The yeast does all the rest.
Hereâs @dduaneââs first take on it and the finished product. Weâve made even more photogenic batches since.
Kneading is easy as well; either let your machine do it, or if you donât want to or donât have one, get hands-on. Itâs like mixing two colours of Plasticine to make a third. Flatten, stretch, fold, half-turn, repeat - it takes about 10 minutes - until the gloopy conglomeration of flour, yeast, salt and water that clings to your hands at the beginning, becomes a compact ball that doesnât stick to things and feels silky-smooth.
Hereâs what before and after look like.
My Mum used to say that if you were feeling out of sorts with someone, it was good to make bread because you could transfer your annoyance into kneading the dough REALLY WELL, and both you and the bread would be better for it.
Then you put it into a bowl, cover it with cling-film and let it rise until it doubles in size, turn it out and âknock it backâ (more kneading, until itâs getting back to the size it started, this means there wonât be huge âis something living in here?â holes in the bread), put it into your loaf-tin or whatever - weâve used a regular oblong tin, a rectangular Pullman tin with a lid, a small glass casserole, an earthenware chicken roasterâŚ
You can even use a clean terracotta flowerpot.
Let the dough rise again until itâs high enough to look like an unbaked but otherwise real loaf, then pop it in the preheated oven. On average we give ours 180°C / 355°F for 45-50 minutes. YM (and oven) MV.
Hereâs some of our breadâŚ
Hereâs our default bread recipe - it takes about 3-4 hours from flour jar to cutting board depending on climate (warmer is faster) most of which is rise time and baking; hands-on mixing, kneading and knocking-back is about 20 minutes, tops, and less if using a mixer.
Here ( or indeed any of the other pics) is the finished product. This one was given an egg-wash to make it look glossy and keep the poppy-seeds in place; mostly we donât bother with that or the slash down the middle, but all the extras were intentional as a âready for my close-upâ glamour shot.
I think any shop would be happy to have something this good-looking on their shelf. Weâre happy to have it on our table.
Even if your first attempts donât work out quite as well as you hope, you can always make something like thisâŚ
can we have more posts like this in future please? this is really useful and could help those who are struggling
Does anyone know how to adjust recipes for baking on a high altitude? More yeast? Less yeast? Internet opinions are conflicting. Made pizza dough according to an adjusted recipe, edible, not so good :-(
the reason iâm still on tumblr.
Just be careful using terra cotta pots to bake in. A lot of them arenât food safe & have industrial shit on them.
đđđđ Now I need both of these things to happen.
