There's something really neat about how Hannibal's "broken heart" sculpture doesn't unfold in Will's mind until he touches it. He lays his hand on it, feels it beating as though Hannibal really did leave him a living heart, and then he's reminded of what's inside, forced to look at what it's made of. It advances on him, knocks him back, pinning him to the floor with its antlers, because it's grotesquely beautiful and oddly touching yet also monstrous and horrible - but he can't resist it.
