If i want to lose around 20lb, do you recommend eating mainly fruit and veg and avoiding starchy foods (potatoes, rice, etc) and i know they are good for you because of the micros, but im talking about for weight loss. Maybe potatoes only a couple times a week? What should my meals mainly be?
People actually tend to say that starches are far more satiating than fruits! .. they digest at a slower rate and tend to make you feel fuller!
I would say for weight loss stick to mostly starch and LOTS of easy to digest veg and greens.. pair 1-2 meals a day with a lot of vegetables and greens. Make sure to include a bit of fat daily.. and try to get in tune with your fuel needs rather then hitting X amount of calories !
Eat what you crave โ this will satisfy you most! So if you are craving a dish of potatoes โ donโt try to drink a smoothie โ that wonโt be very satisfying! potatoes are An amazing, nutrient dense, satiating food! โEarth to mouthโ is the idea !!
if losing weight via calorie restriction is not healthy, how are you suppose to lose weight?
You do need to consume less calories than you burn to lose weight .. but by eating whole plant foods you can do it in a steady, sustainable and healthy way โฆ no extreme calorie restriction or cutting major macro nutrient groups!
and it is easier because we eat bigger portions!! โฆ plant foods are less calorie dense than animal products and refined junk.
So โ no restriction, no need to count or weigh food .. plus you feel f*cking amazing because plant foods full of everything you need and nothing you donโt!
So you feel high energy - thus being more active โ thus burning more :) itโs a cycle of activity, high energy, good food, stabilized body functions, amazing digestion โ when you feel good, you live good!
how do i know how much to eat? i can't eat intuitively anymore, i have a history of dieting/binge eating. what do you suggest?
I had a history of dieting and eventually an ED (although diets are in fact eating disorders themselves in my eyes!) โฆ and look at me now :)
Youโve been dieting for how long? Years? soooโฆ make sure you realize it will take just as long to reverse that mentality.
I am 2 years deep in my journey and STILL learning new things daily .. it isnโt a quick adjustment - especially when we have been feeding the dieting/ED lifestyle for so long!
Start by eating enough โ lifting the mental fog so you can think clearly. Make sure to also work on your mental health and staying consistentโฆ most people go too hard and overwhelm themselves and give up for 2 days then go back to dieting then quit again and over eat/binge ..
Stop that entire cycle and just work slowly and efficiently!! No rush, youโve got like 50-60-70 years left here ;)
I used to eat incredibly hc low fat (5% of total calories) all while intense triathlon training 2+ hours a day. But for the past week I have been more open to incorporating more overt fats in my diet & I have increased my fat intake to 15-20% (keeping calories around the same). I'm a young female athlete,& a bit worried about eating more fat in my diet. BUT I do have to say for the past week I have felt more satisfied, my dry skin has gone away,& feel more balanced. Should I keep going? Not sure
Why in the world would you ever keep your fats that low?
All of my clients eat 10-20-30% fats depending on what they feel best on.. and no obsessive counting with fats ever. Just eat a handful or two a dayโฆ some days more and maybe some lessโฆ the obsession will kill you!
5% for a young female athlete โ you would probably wrecking your body!
We NEED fats โฆ for digestion, absorption of nutrients, hormonal function, hair, skin, nails, thyroid function โ basically for 100s of reasons. Donโt ever limit fats like that โ you seem to know how good you feel - so why would you stop?

Hi Stella. I've been inspired by a lot of your what I eat today videos (plz make more)! I'm just having trouble figuring out how much to eat for each meal. If I eat bananas for a meal, I get full after 3 but then not long after I'm ravenous again. How many bananas should make a meal?
I really eat a lot of the same things daily :P but i will work on this for sure .. i always want to do more videos BUT i am lazy or uninterested in editing and this takes a toll on my youtube for sure :Pย
so a banana is ROUGHLY 100 calories .. so 3 bananas = 300 calories. so if that doesnโt satisfy you then you need to eat more calories .. try 500-600-700 calories .. add in some plant fats and maybe some greens .. give that a go and i bet you will feel satiated and happy until your next snack or meal !ย
