βSome of you are too quick to criticize instead of just enjoying live broβ except weβve seen these characters done better while NATLA insists that theyβre doing something different and better.
βJust turn your brain off and enjoy itβ while NATLA endlessly portrays these scenes as deep while they spoonfeed OOC dialogue from characters that in no way resemble their animated counterparts and are wholly uninteresting on their own.
Itβs crazy how all the criticism of NATLA is always very detailed and cognizant of the themes and deeper characters in the original, and all the defenses of it are always just βyouβre thinking too hard bro it ainβt deep.β
I donβt think itβs unfair to heavily judge people who are saying the live action is a good adaptation or even a good show. There is so much accusation from the defenders that people are βmad itβs not the originalβ when thatβs not really what people are mad about. Itβs a bad show that bares the name of something we like. Itβs a waste of resources that could be used on other things.
Most of us would like to see a potential reimagining of ATLA that gives more insight into the characters and story. All this one does is simplify and sanitize them to nothing, often changing them in ways that donβt even make sense within the show itself and not even in reference to the original. Then it turns around and acts like these are, in fact, the same characters from the OG and should be treated as such. It canβt both βbe its own thingβ and then pretend itβs doing anything on the level of the original show. And itβs still an adaptation; it has a duty to at least resemble the original in spirit. If itβs not meant to do that then it should just be a new show with new characters.
And I think a good portion of the world is extremely tired of these low-effort, high-budget remakes being farted onto us every year instead of good original content or adaptations done with care. The intensely critical response is not just people upset about it not being good; itβs a wider societal push back against slop non-tent like this. And I personally love that energy.
you are well within your right to have these opinions, and I do agree with some of them.
but I do think it's unfair to "heavily judge" the people, who enjoy watching it. there's nothing wrong with liking a show that's suppose to be an adaption of another show (even if it doesn't do it complete justice).
if we start heavily judging everyone, we're just becoming more and more hateful, and that is definitely not right.
I love the original ATLA show with all my heart. it was my comfort show growing up, and NATLA does not compare to it at all. But I can also separate the two, even if they bare resemblance. because to me, I'm just happy we get even more atla content. there's things in NATLA that I enjoy more than in ATLA (ex: the way sokka is genuinely traumatized from losing Yue, and we see that throughout all of season 2 instead of just an episode or two in ATLA), and I don't think, we should shame anyone for feeling like this.
but I would say that you have a point that people (including myself in some situations) are growing tired of some of these new shows that feel low effort to many of us. however, we'll never be able to satisfy everyone, and I think, we're making it worse for ourselves by constantly nitpicking on every single small detail.

i would just like to say that it's amazing seeing at least one other person in the ukyt fandom that is so staunchly against AB, feels like everyone else has already forgotten
Don't worry ur definitely not alone! I really can't stand that guy and he is an awful person. Seeing ppl glaze him on here so hard is insane im ngl π
I saw a post where someone was complaining about about how ppl on twitter are saying that ukyters are misogynistic and how thatβs like really unnecessary and stuff and while I agree that yes, a lot of ukyt has generally positive attitudes towards women doesnβt mean they are not misogynistic
See the thing is, when people say that ukyt is not misogynistic theyβre mainly talking about YouTubers like Arthurtv ect, and how they talk in really positive ways about women, we all know that clip where Arthurtv says βwomen are heaven on earthβ.
In some cases such as that quote itβs pretty nice actually.
But a lot of the time this idea that women are amazing and women are important and they give birth and stuff can actually be quite harmful.
This is because the notion that women deserve right because they are very wonderful and have reproductive abilities implies that otherwise they donβt deserve rights: them being human is not enough for them to be respected.
It minimises the value of women to reproduction and also puts them on a moral pedestal which is harmful because
1. Not all woman are fertile so this notion discredits them of being worthy
2. women do not deserve respect because they are humans, they must be extraordinary
3. it upholds the gender binary and gender construct which leads to transphobia ect
4. wlw are invalidated for not being able to reproduce
6. asexual and aromantic ppl are invalidated for not wanting to reproduce
5. People who get abortions are implied to be unworthy
6. Women are capable of being bad and being ordinary (I mean look at us bums) because they are humans
If you notice a lot of the time when these guys speak good about women they often only mention βwhat women are good forβ which further normalises these harmful messages
Now you might be thinking: βbut Samyu youβre being too woke you canβt expect them to not do thatβ
And to that I say: but you can, these guys arenβt idiots, with a little education they must be willing to change, they are young and evidently kind and open minded adults, so why wouldnβt they.
It might sound irrelevant but especially now more than ever itβs important to establish that women/people must be respected regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, personal choices and reproductive ability.
Oh and also there are definitely ukyters who display more obvious misogyny and definitely need to correct that!!!
I accidentally made a poll and idk how to get rid of it
idiots (me) will never watch a single ordinary football game (me), but as soon as it's the world cup, said idiots (me) will act as if they (me) know everything about football...

I watch ONE silly little Netflix show/K-drama called 'The Wonderfools' and suddenly, another one get's added to my collection of fictional men/celebrities that I love (and can't escape for the foreseeable future).
Yes, I am talking about you, Cha Eun-Woo... respectfully DAMN!
but on a serious note tho... that show was BANGER (and so hilarious)
I'm so sick and tired of this modern era where we have to wait several years for a new season of our favorite show to air, all for it to just be a lousy 8 episodes of mediocre television.

Can I ask for something with Fives x Reader(Jedi?)
Maybe Fives decided to arrange an unforgettable first date, but obviously something went wrong. It's just that she's cute.
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language. And thank you for your creativity
An unforgettable night
Fives x fem!reader (Jedi)
Summary: After months of pining, Fives finally gathered up the courage to ask you out. When you say yes, he's determined to make the date night better than anything else... but of course, not everything goes to plan.
Warnings: just a whole lot of fluff and cute Fives, slight embarrassment, slight tension, the 501st being the 501st, like two seconds of angst, a tiny bit of blood, and a tiny bit of violence (nothing else, I think lol)
This became longer than I had planned for - hope you like it!
Everyone in the 501st - heck - everyone in the GAR knew the name 'Fives'. The hunky, chaotic ARC trooper with a heart of gold (and a mind filled with stupid yet brilliant ideas to get himself and his brothers in and out on trouble).
And one of those stupid yet brilliant plans was exactly how Fives found himself in this particular situation.
4 months ago, the Jedi Council decided to assign another Jedi General to assist the 501st. None of the troopers really understood why, but after having spend some time with you on missions, watching you fight along side them and General Skywalker, they no longer cared to ask why. You were incredible. Not to mention the fact that you were kind, interesting, funny, and you actually enjoyed spending time with the troopers in between missions.
Even though Anakin was a terrific General, his men knew that he wanted to spend most of his free time with his wife (even if they technically weren't suppose to know that he was married).
You, on the other hand, was more than happy to spend time with the troopers during breaks in between missions. Often times, you could be found in their barracks, playing games (that usually ended up with a stupid bet), or telling funny stories. Other times, you enjoyed your meal in the mess hall with the other troopers, listening to their bickering back and forth. And sometimes, you even helped some of the guys paint their armor or polish their weapons.
And that was exactly how Fives developed the fattest crush on you known to mankind.
It started out relatively normal, though. About a month into knowing you, Fives had injured his leg in battle, and since you had been closer than Kix or the other medics, you had taken it into your own hands to get him to safety. That essentially meant dragging him several miles back to the makeshift base, where you personally made sure that he got send on a transport back to the Resolute. And afterwards, you had gone above and beyond, checking up on him in medbay, which mainly consisted of you listening to Fives rant about some funny story, while you had a soft smile plastered on your face.
That was the first time that Fives felt a weird tingle in his stomach. But he ignored it. Passed it off as post-battle jitters.
But then it happened again. And this time, there wasn't an ongoing battle or a dire moment happening around Fives. Instead, it happened on a night on shore leave. Fives and his brothers had gone to 79's to get drunk and go dancing, and they had asked, if you wanted to tag along. He remember the way your eyes cackled with mischief and a smirk found its way onto your face when he, Jesse and Hardcase had proposed the idea to you. Still, you had said yes. And the night had been great, but that wasn't when it happened. It happened after. When the night had almost turned into morning, and Fives had found you at the bar, noticing the tired look on your face, he had offered to walk you back to base and you had happily agreed.
The two of you had talked none stop the whole way back, and when you hugged him goodnight, Fives found himself standing a moment longer, starring at your door and feeling the weird tingle in his stomach again.
That's when he realized that it wasn't post-battle jitters. It was love.
Fives was fucked.
___
Naturally, his brothers found out about a week later.
They were sitting in the mess hall, eating their lunch when Jesse suddenly stopped eating as his eyes landed on Fives. For some reason, Fives had completely zoned out mid-bite. And when Jesse followed his line of sight, he nearly spit out his own food. There, at the other end of the mess hall, you were standing with a cup of caff in your hand while in deep conversation with Commander Tano, smiling widely.
"Dude, are you in love with General Y/L/N?" this time, it wasn't Jesse who spat out his food, but Fives who choked on his.
The whole table went silent. Hardcase, Tup, Echo, Kix, and Dogma all stared at Fives with wide eyes as he tried his hardest to swallow the rest of his food. Although that did little to dampen the fact that his face was bright red and that Fives for the first time in history was stumbling over his words.
"I- uh- w-what are you... what are you talking about?!" He stuttered, the whole table still dead silent. Expect for Jesse who had a smug grin on his face.
"Holy shit, you're totally in love with the General, aren't you?" He grinned, his other brothers starting to follow his smug grin, some of them glancing over at you and then back at a trembling Fives.
"Cut it out, Jesse! You don't know, what you're saying..." he lied, although none of his brothers believed him for a second.
"Wait wait wait, since when is this a thing?" Hardcase chimed in.
"Yeah, you always talk about women from 79's, was that all just a lie to cover up the fact that you're in love with Y/N?" Echo chuckled.
Fives only grew more and more embarrassed by the second and his brothers did only seem to wanna keep pressing on.
"You know, I don't blame you, Fives. The General is badass" Jesse pointed out, shrugging with a smirk.
"Not to mention the fact that she's a gorgeous woman" Hardcase chimed in again.
"Yeah, but she's way above you though" Kix chuckled, tried to hide it.
Fives looked like he was moments away from exploding, when Echo dealt the final blow.
"Why don't you just ask her out?"
"Ask her out?!" Fives argued, his demeanor changing dramatically. "And how exactly are you suggesting I do that then? Have you forgotten the oh-so-obvious fact that she's a Jedi and I'm just a soldier!? It would never ever work. And you're right, she's way above me, and probably doesn't like me like that at all! So just forget it!"
And with that he stormed off, leaving his brothers confused and slightly guilty, and without him noticing the fact that you noticed the way he had stormed out of the mess hall.
___
When you strolled into the hanger later that day, the first thing you noticed was the trooper with a sad face who stood next to your starfighter, and looked like he had no idea what to do with his hands.
"Fives?" Your soft voice pulled him out of his trance, and he instantly straightened up at the sight of you. "What are you doing in the hanger all alone?"
"Oh uh... well it's a funny story actually" Fives began, although he never really finished his sentence. You smiled at him, your head tilting slightly to the right as you looked at him.
"Does it, by any chance, have something to do with the fact that you stormed out of the mess hall earlier?" You asked carefully, your voice still soft and relaxed. Fives' face grew hot again.
"You saw that?"
A small chuckle escaped you, "it was kinda hard not to" but as Fives let out a defeated sigh and his shoulders slumped, you stopped laughing, "are you okay, Fives?"
Another sigh escaped the poor ARC trooper.
"It- it's nothing, General. I'm sorry for bothering you" he was already trying to leave, but you reached out and stopped him before he could.
"You could never bother me, Fives" you said, "and what's with the 'General'? You usually call me by my name"
A blush spread on his face as Fives felt his heart melting. You always knew, what to say. Gosh, you were so kind, and so pretty, and so beautiful, and so amazing and so-
"Fives?"
Shit, he zoned out.
"Sorry" he chuckled nervously.
"Fives, are you sure, you're alright?" You asked, softer this time. You took a step closer to him.
Fives stared at you, and you were completely unaware of the fact that his heart was pounding against his ribcage with such force that he feared you'd be able to physically see it. And then, he did something, he never thought, he would.
"Will you go out with me?"
Fives had a horrified expression on his face, and he was seconds away from running when you said, what he'd never thought, you would.
"Yes"
"Wait what?" His eyes widened, and you couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Well, you asked if I wanted to go out with you, and I said; yes" you shrugged with a grin that grew wider and wider.
"Really? You would want to go out with me? Really?" Fives stumbled a bit over his words, and you chuckled again.
"Yes, really" both of you were grinning like idiots now. You couldn't stop yourself from reaching out, touching his shoulder. "Fives, I've wanted you to ask me out for months now."
"What?" Fives asked, completely shocked. You simply nodded.
"Yes, I honestly thought, I was being pretty obvious, but I guess not" you giggled and Fives swore right there and then that he could have passed out from sheer happiness and relief.
"Okay well... wow that's, that's great, Y/N!" Fives smiled widely, and when he saw the giddy smile on your own face, he finally felt the nerves leave him enough to regain some of that usual 'Fives confidence'.
"I promise you, Y/N: I'm going to plan you the best date ever" he grinned, and you felt a blush spread on your face.
"I look forward to it"
___
Turns out that when you're currently busy fighting a galactic war, there's not much time for 'date-night'. And it was equally as frustrating to you as it was to Fives.
As soon as you had agreed to go out with Fives, he had instantly returned to his brothers to tell them the good news, and just like that, the earlier outburst in the mess hall was forgotten. But it was like life just had it out for you and Fives.
The next day, General Skywalker had called everyone together for a new mission. A mission that lasted almost a month, which meant zero time for date-night planning.
At least you and Fives were able to have a few moments, where the conversation could be about something other than the next battle. But that was about it for the next thirty rotations.
"So... we're going back to Coruscant tomorrow" Fives' soft voice interrupted you in the middle of writing rapports. You looked up, seeing him standing there in the doorway to your makeshift office, and you immediately felt the butterflies in your stomach at the sight of him and his smile.
"We are" you smiled, the rapports already forgotten as you stood up, strolling over to Fives.
"We are indeed" you almost snorted at the smug grin on his face. His poor attempt at flirting that actually wasn't so poor seeing as it was definitely working on you.
"Got any plans for shore leave then? You and the guys heading to 79's perhaps?" You asked, your eyes never leaving him.
"Perhaps..." Fives trailed off, standing up straighter. You never realized before, but you actually really enjoyed the way he slightly towered over you. "Or, perhaps I'll do something else on shore leave"
"Really? And what would that be?" You asked innocently.
Fives looked at you, and you suddenly realized how close, his face was to yours. His eyes were shining with mischief and something warmer, and before he could stop himself (not that either of you wanted to), he reached out, fingers brushing away a strand of your hair before lingering on your soft skin.
"Well, I was thinking about taking this girl out on an amazing date" his voice had lowered and you couldn't stop staring at him.
"Yeah? Lucky girl" you smiled.
"Actually, I'm the lucky one. I still can't believe that she wants to go out with someone like me" Fives smirked widely, and you rolled your eyes playfully.
The tension could be cut with a knife, but just as you felt him lean in, both of you heard people walking by and instantly separated, a guilty blush on your faces.
"Well uh... I should finish up here" you said, a little awkward and Fives simply smiled.
"Yeah... I'll see you later, Y/N" and with that he left.
___
Finally, the night was here.
The 501st had been granted a whole week of shore leave, and naturally, Fives had taken advantage of the fact that you could finally go on your date.
"I still can't believe that she actually said yes" Hardcase laughed, ducking to avoid the pillow that Fives threw after his face. The other boys laughed as well.
"Well you best believe it, because this date is going to be amazing" Fives grinned, smoothing out his hair.
"Got something special planned then, brother?" Jesse grinned.
"A grand romantic gesture?" Kix chimed in.
"Like I'm gonna tell you guys" Fives snorted.
"Oh come on, Fives. You gotta give us something" Echo argued and the others quickly nodded in agreement. But all Fives did was smile.
"I'll see you all later, boys"
And with that, he left the barracks and headed for your room.
___
When you opened the door at 7pm exactly, your face lit up with pleasant surprise at the sight of Fives standing in front of you with a bouquet of flowers. He was wearing civilian clothes, a confident smile, and he cleaned up real nice.
"Wow Fives, I had no idea, you were this handsome" you chuckled as he handed you the flowers.
Fives put a hand on his chest, pretending to be offended as he followed you into your small room where you placed the flowers in a small vase.
"You wound me, Y/N. I put in efforts tonight, ya know?" He chuckled, pretending not to check you out constantly. You were drop dead gorgeous. You always were, but especially tonight. This was the first time that Fives saw you in something other than Jedi robes and armor. You were wearing a beautiful navy dress. In itself, it was simple. Short sleeves, soft fabric, and a length that stopped right below your knees. But on you? It was the most gorgeous dress, Fives had ever seen.
"Oh I know, Fives. So did I, if you hadn't noticed" you chuckled, doing a quick spin and Fives could only laugh with you and thanking whatever Maker had sent you to him.
"Oh I noticed, Y/N." He looked at you, "You're beautiful"
"And you're flirting" you pointed out.
"Well, is it working?" The toothy grin on his face was enough for you to playfully smack his chest before you grabbed your jacket and the two of you left your room.
"Well, let's see how the date plays out first" you grinned, "so, where are we headed?"
___
The first almost three hours of your date was spent doing something, you had honestly always kind of wanted to do, but given the fact that the Jedi didn't exactly go on fun-loving field trips, you never had the chance. But Fives. Brilliant, funny, handsome Fives had somehow read your mind and taken you to the small arcade downtown.
This was the most fun, you had had in ages. You and Fives had done nothing but laugh the whole time, and you were positive that your lips were permanently curled into a smile by the end of it.
"So, where to next?" You were slightly out of breath from laughing too hard, but you were having too much fun to care and Fives seemed to feel the same.
"Follow me" he grinned.
After a small twenty-minute walk, the two of you arrived at an adorable little restaurant that was dimly lit and smelled amazing even from outside.
"Wow, this place looks great, Fives" you smiled at him, and as if it was the most normal thing in the world, Fives grabbed your hand with a smile, squeezing lightly.
"Let's head inside"
The atmosphere was incredible. There were a lot of costumers already, but Fives had somehow gotten the two of you a great table by the window, lit with candles.
"So, how am I doing so far?" Fives asked with a grin, as the two of you ate.
"Well," you pretended to think about it, "it's not bad"
"Not bad?" Fives gasped playfully, "I thought, it was going amazingly"
You stared at him for a moment before your mask started to slip. "Alright alright, it is going amazingly"
"That's better" Fives grinned.
By the time dessert rolled around, you felt better than ever. It had been the best date night, and you honestly never wanted the night to end.
But unfortunately, life was never really fair.
You felt it before it happened. The weird sensation that something terrible was about to happen. Fives might have felt it too, but your Jedi instincts allowed you to react before he could.
The door to the restaurant bursted opened as five armed guys stormed in. People began to panic as they threatened to open fire, and you didn't even think. You simply reacted. Using the Force, you lifted a table and threw it against two of the guys. That's when the chaos truly erupted.
You didn't have your lightsaber with you, so you had to dodge the blaster bolts while also making sure that no one innocent was caught in the crossfire. People were screaming, things were being destroyed, but you were a Jedi and they were just five guys (four if you counted the one that Fives had taken out), so eventually you put an end to the fight.
When it ended, they were all laying on the floor of the restaurant, groaning in pain and their weapons confiscated. All civilians had since fled the scene and called the police, and you and Fives were both standing there, surprised yet relieved that no one got seriously hurt.
"Are you okay?" Fives asked you, concern written on his face as he checked you over.
"Yeah, I'm f-"
"Shit, you're bleeding" Fives had grabbed your arm and only then had you realized that you were in fact bleeding.
It looked like you had gotten a scratch while fighting, and a small cut on your upper arm was bleeding.
"Oh, it's nothing, Fives. I can just-"
"No, we're going to the medbay" You were trying to protest, but Fives were having none of it.
And that's how you found yourself sitting on a bed in the medbay, Fives pacing around you as Kix cleaned your small wound and wrapped it with bandage.
"Fives, will you stop pacing around?" Kix' tired voice broke the silence as he finished cleaning you up. He sent you a sympathetic smile, "You're all good, General. As good as new"
"Thank you, Kix. And I'm sorry, we bothered you on your night off" you smiled back, slightly guilty.
"No worries, General. I'll see you both later" and with that, Kix left you and Fives alone in the medbay.
But Fives was still pacing around.
"Fives?"
He still paced.
"Fives, would you please stop pacing around?"
Finally, he stopped and looked at you. But the expression in his eyes was something, you had never truly seen before.
"Y/N... I am so sorry about this" he begun, taking your hands in his.
"What? Fives, why are you sorry? This wasn't your fault" you pointed out, but it looked like Fives wasn't ready to listen to you.
"Are you kidding me? You got hurt on the date that I planned" he spoke, arms wailing around.
You stared at him with an are-you-serious-expression, "You cannot possible think that you're responsible for those guys showing up armed to the restaurant?!"
"I might as well have been!" He argued, "I'm sorry, Y/N. This was a bad idea after all. Hell, it's technically not even allowed" he sounded so... well, like he had given up, really.
"You think... it was a bad idea?" Never had Fives heard you sounded so... sad before.
"Y/N-"
"No, I get it, Fives. And perhaps, you're right," you said, "I mean, I'm a Jedi and you're a soldier, no- you're one of my soldiers... the Jedi way literally states that I'm not allowed to form attachments to others in fear of it clouding my judgement, which could lead me down a dark path."
Fives looked at you, not knowing what to say. So, you kept going.
"But Fives... I'm already attached to you, and I have been for a while now. I care about you and your brothers so much, and it kills me every time one of you is lost on the battlefield," you hopped off the bed, stepping closer to him, "but you know what? I've never told anyone this, but sometimes I question the way of the Jedi. Sometimes, I think, we are severely flawed. I mean, we're not allowed to form attachments to others, but we're suppose to be the peacekeepers of the entire Galaxy. How are we suppose to do that, if we aren't allowed to be compassionate? There are so many things that doesn't even make sense. But you do, Fives..."
"I do what?" Fives asked, eyes a little blurry.
"You make sense. Everything about you makes sense to me, Fives."
He stared at you in silence, his mouth a little agape and his pupils blown wide. You were equally as blown away by what you had said, and in that moment, you couldn't take it any longer.
"Will you please just kiss me?"
And with those words, his hands found your face as he smashed his lips against yours. You weren't surprised, but he did it with such passion that you still slipped out a small gasp before completely losing yourself in his touch. You had never been kissed before, yet it was like your body automatically knew, what to do as your hands snaked around the back of his neck, your hands running through his hair, tugging slightly on his dark roots. His reaction send shivers down your spine, and the kiss got even hotter.
You felt the medbay bed hit your back, and then you felt yourself getting lifted up as Fives stepped in between your legs, his lips not leaving your until the very last second that you both desperately needed some air.
Both of you were heavily breathing, your foreheads resting against each others.
"Well... that, that was-"
"Not bad?" Fives laughed at his own joke and you sent him a playful grin, rolling your eyes.
