i hate how many people are suddenly changing their minds on trinity santos after episode 7. like bro you just feel bad for being a bitch to her because now she has physical proof of her struggle. we’ve known for ages she’s got a horrific backstory, it’s almost like you don’t see mental health struggles as real until it manifests as physical harm yk

I noticed this small detail in the Pitt when Mel and Santos are working with the young woman suffering from an eating disorder. After they have successfully figured out what caused her pneumonia, Mel goes into say she knows a lot about eating disorders because she thought she had one. In that short moment, you see Santos (who has been distressed and distracted all day because of what Al-Hashimi said) immediately locks in. She is completely focused onto Mel at even the thought that she may have had an eating disorder, and looks for confirmation in her eyes when Mel says she dosen’t. After she confirms that no Mel didn’t have any eating disorder, just was picky with food (which is another topic for another day), she goes back to being distressed and lost in her own mind. I know most people don’t understand Santos, but these little moments show a lot about her. Yes she comes off as brazen, and she is currently acting out of turn because of the threat of repeating her residency. However, she does care about the people she works with, and will instantly make sure their needs and safety is her top concern. She didn’t hesitate to take Whitaker in her home when he didn’t have a place to stay, she wants Javadi to celebrate her birthday because she does deserve it and she will forget her worries and focus on Mel if there was ever a possibility she was suffering something serious. Santos is a great character and a complex once yall really need to see that more.
The use of Louie Cloverfield, a longtime patient of the ER who is Black, to further the tensions between White characters, Whitaker, Robby, and Langdon, without adequately addressing the role of medical racism here is so frustrating. One of the last things Louie asked for was to be treated by Collins, a Black doctor whom he knew would help him out and give him the care he needed. Instead, Louie had been there since 4:00 AM and was tended to by an intern who was only a few days into his emergency medicine residency.
It is fortunate that Langdon stops by and addresses Louie's withdrawal symptoms, but it saddens me that Whitaker hadn't addressed that previously. Then, Langdon was pulled from triage and checks on Louie, who kept pulling off his pulse oximeter. Langdon is right there when Louie's blood oxygen levels are low and Louie becomes unconscious. But still, the primary physician assigned to handle his care did not address his needs in time (Whitaker), and another doctor was about to enable his addiction, which you could at best argue is treating his withdrawal in a very inappropriate manner (Robby, and in any case, I disagree with this interpretation. Robby has known Louie for a long time and in season 1 was still encouraging him to quit, yet in season 2 he takes a can of beer from some hospital visitor as a farewell gift. There was nothing medicinal about that gesture.). It is all the more frustrating when the show acknowledges medical racism, but it is apparently not a conscious effort or thread to show Whitaker and his biases, which match the ones he had against the Black sickle cell patient, Joyce, then brought up by Mohan in season 1. Additionally, even though Whitaker did not kill him, his first patient death was another Black man, Mr. Milton. There is an obvious through line here that the show could follow through on.
Plus, this show consistently has a lot of White patients/families getting significant storylines, while many of the people of color do not get as many, or they are essentially rendered to giving PSAs. Black patients especially are used to mention how representation matters (both Louie and the patient with the eating disorder, Phylicia), yet it falls so flat when they do not have Black healthcare workers there to address that, and the conversation just ends there. Now, Louie is dead, and it is about how Whitaker feels bad because there was nothing he could have done, and him being comforted, bringing up his own family history with alcoholism, when the one who ultimately suffered was Louie. Even Louie's own history and life, his deceased wife and unborn child are things we do not get to learn from his own mouth. The optics of the exploration of White characters at the expense of Black characters (multiple who do not show up this season, namely Collins and Kiara) is also annoying because I can feel people saying critiquing this is overreacting or being overly critical, or it is realistic for medical racism to occur, or whatever, but enjoying a show does not mean it is above criticism.
the way the white fandom perceives Whitaker vs the Black fandom is strikingly different. white ppl only talking about his ships & how “hot/cute” he is, while the Black fandom is talking about how he has unconscious or unintentional medical racism towards his Black patients
automatically ruled the Black patient with sickle cell disease a “drug seeker” despite being in a visceral state of pain, but having no problem offering the guy who was actually drug seeking (a white man) morphine before Samira stopped him
ignoring Louie's complaints of tooth pain for 4 hours before properly treating. (i understand they couldn’t extract the abscess until they were done with the fluid extraction, but they couldn’t give him pain meds??) & also waited so long to give him meds for him going through possible withdrawal. Louie literally asks for Dr. Collins because he trusts that he would receive better care from her as a Black patient than him & Ogilvie.
constantly dismissing Mr. Samba's (the posterior ST-segment patient) complaints of being dizzy
& if Louie dies, yt ppl are going to be so quick to dismiss it saying that’s it’s Robby’s fault for putting too much on him or it’s Langdon’s fault because he should have been checking up on Louie more, but that doesn’t acknowledge the actual problem at hand. no accountability just automatically trying to shift the blame to someone else despite Whitaker being depicted doing this to Black patients on numerous occasions
(the reason why is bc a lot of you would have to acknowledge your own racial biases towards Black people to properly acknowledge Whitaker’s)
michael "robby" robinavitch - a man with an average first name turns his last name into another average first name. this represents the fact that's just kind of a guy.
heather collins - her name is heather and she wears red, symbolizing that she is the first major cast member to mysteriously disappear.
baran "al" al-hashimi - when said as she says it, all the sounds in this name come from the front of the mouth around the lips/alveolar ridge, letting the words whistle right out in a complement to her light and breezy affect and way of handling cases. unfortunately I mostly just see seven thousand fucking jokes a day about how "al" kinda looks like "ai."
frank langdon - this one's a doozy because he spent the first season being not frank at all, but, now, get this, in s2 he is being very frank. quite clever and nuanced, when you think about it.
dana evans - two first names, indicating that she is down to earth and also a woman of intrigue.
samira mohan - samira, in arabic meaning "companion in evening talk," representing that she is a companion in evening talk except for that she works the day shift so it's morning/afternoon talk.
cassie mckay - cassie, potentially short for cassandra, the disbelieved prophet, like how robby disbelieved her about david's potential threat. except well he didn't actually kill those people but the vibes are still there.
melissa king - king, ruler. symbolic of the fact that she ruuuuuules.
trinity santos - trinity, as in the father and son and the holy spirit; santos, as in saints. this is because she is the second coming of christ and has never done anything wrong.
dennis whitaker - dennis, derived from dionysus, the god of wine and revelry. you saw his little dance in his abandoned hospital room.
victoria javadi - victoria, victory, due to the fact that she can never fucking lose.

Gaza bleeds silently, as grief and pain pervade every corner of this holy land. Medicine is in short supply, and hospitals are severely under-equipped to treat the wounded. Under these harsh conditions, death becomes a daily companion, claiming lives and leaving behind deep wounds in hearts. Gaza remains resilient despite everything it is going through, but it is in dire need of support and assistance to alleviate its suffering. The battle for life there is not just a struggle for survival, but a battle for the life and hope for a better future.
Please, please, look at my donation campaign and help me. I have newborn children and my son Ahmed needs treatment. He is a heart patient and suffers from two holes in the heart. He needs help and treatment. We do not have money and we are stuck in Egypt because of the Gaza war. My wife and I lost my jobs and there is no source of income. I would like you to help. Kat Abughazaleh, a 26-year-old running for Congress in Illinois, is spending her campaign dollars in a whole new way.
"Kat Abughazaleh, a 26-year-old running for Congress in Illinois’ 9th congressional district, isn’t shy about her belief that politicians need to do things differently.
“We have a representation problem,” the first line of the “About” page on her website reads.
“As in, about half of Congress are millionaires and people born before the Moon landing. And that's part of the reason we're in this mess: Our leaders are out of touch.”
A journalist, social media influencer, and political commentator that GQ called “a lefty,” with a mission to revitalize the Democratic party, Abughazaleh built a following online before she launched her campaign in March of 2025.
But now, she’s leveraging her platform — and campaign dollars — to help people in her community before ballots are even filled in.
“My congressional campaign is feeding people right now,” she starts in a recent TikTok video.
“Part of the reason I decided to run was because I saw how much money gets wasted in politics, and I thought, ‘What if we spent it differently?’”
She adds that the campaign is focused on “direct action and mutual aid,” emphasizing that she wanted her run for office to be “dual-purpose,” in which she can get her message out and help people in the process.
It’s a stark pivot from the traditional way of campaigning in the United States, which often includes pricey fundraising galas, attack ads, big billboards, and perhaps the most criticized and unpopular feature: massive donations from private businesses and interest groups.
Abughazaleh has publicly congratulated the former incumbent of this seat — 80-year-old Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who has held the title since 1999, the year Abughazaleh was born — for her “decades of service.”
Rep. Schakowsky will not seek reelection, but Abughazaleh called for others to run, hoping to participate in the “first competitive Democratic primary in the District since 1998.”
Abughazaleh has also shared that the average donation her campaign receives is $31. And according to GQ, 1,000 people signed up to volunteer for her campaign within a week of her initial announcement.
And while that volunteering does include marketing, canvassing, and getting the word out, it mostly adds up to actual on-the-ground volunteer work to help people in the local community.
“Our kick-off event, for instance, didn’t charge $500 a plate,” Abughazaleh shared in her TikTok. “People just had to bring a box of pads or tampons, which were donated to Chicago’s period collective. By the end of the night, we had gathered over 5,600 period products, which went to people who can’t afford them.”
Most recently, the campaign hosted a food drive for a local community fridge program.
“We asked folks to come out and donate food in exchange for a campaign yard or window sign,” Abughazaleh said. “And by the end of the day, we were able to fully stock the empty pantry and fill the fridge with frozen meals, produce, and eggs. That’s feeding people right now.”
“Don’t worry, we checked to make sure this is legal," she added. "And it is."
The campaign has also launched a High School Public Serve Grant program that encourages local youth to submit ideas for how to make the community better, and Abughazaleh’s campaign will support it with money, materials, volunteers, and her online platform...
“Something you’ll rarely see is concrete help in their communities during the campaign,” she said. “And frankly, to me, that just seems stupid. Not only do you get to help people — supposedly what you’re running to do — but it also shows what you’re about, instead of just providing lip service.” ...
“If every campaign adopted this model, then we wouldn’t be wasting money every single cycle. Every city, town, and village across America would be improved by their election process, and I think it would also get people more involved,” she said.
“We have local folks who have never voted in an election, but they joined our volunteer Discord server because they want to help, they feel like they have something to vote for.”
For those who might be inspired enough to run for office with this model, she says: Full steam ahead.
“Frankly, I would love it if other campaigns took our model. Use it, pretend it’s yours, I don’t care!” she wrapped up her TikTok.
“Pair with organizations in your community that have been doing the work, talk with local experts, and try to spearhead any initiatives you can to show your values and help your constituents. It’s really that easy.”

Every morning, *Abdul Rahman* leaves his home in Gaza, heading to *Netzarim*, not in search of a better life... but for *some flour* to feed his hungry brothers.
✦ He goes to where the *army that shoots without mercy* is.
✦ He faces *immediate danger of death*, just to return with enough to feed his family.
✦ He has no flour at home, no food, and no sure hope of survival every time he goes out.
*50 kg bag of flour = $1,500*
Where does a besieged young man get it from, who has lost everything, and is left with only his hungry little brothers?
*Help Abdul Rahman's family survive.*
Every donation, no matter how small, is a life.
**↳ Don't ignore the sound of hunger, don't ignore the cry of danger.
Help Abdul Rahman before he returns home lifeless.**

Only 10% of the €30k goal has been reached so far. Please do your best to donate and share.
I'm writing another post on behalf of Ahmed @samirahmed125, who recently joined Tumblr to make an appeal for his son Samir (both of them live in Gaza). His son is currently suffering from a serious foot injury, and he needs financial assistance in order to travel to a working hospital and get the help he needs. While it's been very heartening to see people come together and donate money to help these guys, the goal for this task has still not been met.
Ahmed originally set the goal of $15,000 for his son's medical needs. At the same time they need money for hospital bills, food, and transportation, which have increased in price due to displacement and the closing of the crossings.
Please help them by sharing this post so they can find more donors; Ahmed is exhausted and can't campaign for his son online while attending to real-life problems. Donate if you're able.
