Okay, so I’m a week and half into the new job and god…. Listen my last job was a mess but I only really had to deal with students and a very small (I.e. 4) group of coworkers who weren’t even in the same department as me on the regular. And because I started working there as the AI shit was just starting to kick up I like to think that my hatred of it and my explanations as to why I hated it helped keep our office at least pretty Anti-Ai.
This new job though, I glanced up from my desk at one point today and saw 4 different people with ChatGPT or copilot pulled up on their desktops and actively using it.
🤮
I will be the squeaky fucking wheel about it, even if I’ve only been here for a week.
Apart from the AI thing (which is like a major thing, don’t get me wrong) the people are really nice and welcoming so far. And the supervisors/managers actually take me seriously as someone with a lot of expertise and insight in these areas because of my experience (old role- higher ed, new role- social work-ish) and they actually treat me like a professional which is such a breath of fresh air.
