the way this show wrote dean as “he will make sexist and homophobic jokes but beat the shit out of homophobes and sexists” and not realize that they just wrote the epitomal archetype of a closeted queer character

just thinking. dean makes questionable gay jokes in the bunker regularly enough for sam to notice. one day, finishing up a hunt, a hunter they’re teamed with calls the monster a slur. dean clocks the hunter in the face — “I don’t care who’s side you’re on, you have no right to say that.” in the car on the ride home sam’s thinking. “so why are YOU allowed to use that word?“ dean slams on the brakes and sam, who did not buckle up, smashes his face into the dash. they never talk about it again

you know that “i saw a pride flag at target and said ew gay people and people looked at me weird because i forgot homophobia existed because i’m gay” post? that’s the final evolution that dean would have reached after cas’ confession but the show couldn’t handle it so they stuck a rebar up his ass instead
