the thing abt the shadowhunter chronicles is that a lot of details from the earlier books are either forgotten about or accidentally retconned later in the series which is fine, nobody can plan out 20+ books in detail, and no one expects this of cassandra clare either. except for cassandra clare. so like every year someone will be like "hey so on page 45 of clockwork princess an elf called Norflagus Dingus shows up and says Will owes him money, but then in chain of gold will says he's never gambled with elves? what's up with that?" and cassie will cryptically answer an ask about it like "Haha You Will See ;)" and then run off in a panic to write her new short story collection called Tales of The Stories that Were Told in the Shadows and in it she will include a story about Norflagus Dingus and his memory erasing money swindling scheme which is set during the 2 pages that will and tessa were not on screen together during chapter 19 of clockwork angel (it's a love story). and everyone is like cassie thank you but you did not have to do that. and cassie is just like also Norflagus is kieran's great-great uncle.
