Will we ever talk about how Spock’s palm initially just holds McCoy by the neck and cheekbones—with his fingers in a standard position—but the gesture gradually shifts into the one we all recognize? Vulcan hand gestures don’t always signify a kiss; it depends on the context, but... We all know Spock kissed that Romulan female commander that way. In other words, an emotionally unstable Spock initially grabbed McCoy intending to lash out, but ended up kissing him instead. And it’s all because his emotions are chaotic: he starts doing one thing but finishes by doing another.

However, one shouldn't confuse them; although this gesture closely resembles the "LLAP" greeting and farewell, they convey different messages, serve different purposes, involve different techniques, and—of course—occur in completely different contexts.

Actually, Spock and McCoy are constantly kissing in the original series. Well, or trying to.

An attempt at a final kiss before McCoy dies. Look at the positioning of the fingers—it bears a striking resemblance to the way Sarek and Amanda kissed. It is as if McCoy wants to reach out and return Spock’s kiss properly, but lacks the strength to do so.

you try to hit on one of them and they talk your ear off about the guy they've got their eye on, and then somehow you and your friends are making a Concerted Effort to get these two strangers together, because you're a sucker for a good meet cute and by golly are you gonna make these two meet cutely!!!! how many times do they say hi for the very first time. how many strangers celebrate them leaving together!

sometimes they realize later on who they had in their bar, which is why there's currently 27 bars and restaurants and clubs that claim to be the place where captain kirk and doctor mccoy fell in love.

(all of them are right, because as gross as it is they fall in love all the time. they're falling in love right now.

Bones totally standing up for Spock, defending him against Kirk. And there are people who claim that McCoy seriously disrespects or even hates Spock. Yeah right. Not!

For context he is saying to this is the guy who is being racist to Spock because Vulcans look like Romulans.
