i’ve been thinking about drawing this with them ever since I first saw people redrawing this panel, and honestly it was a fun excuse to try and lean into more of a comic style (og archie comic under the cut)

wrote this a couple of years ago (2021) about post-iwtb msr and somehow it still applies to any ship im hooked on (im biased)

posting bc this time, it reminds me of my hc post-mockingjay haymitch and effie.

trying to remember who they were before the games robbed them of their identities but also trying to hold onto the people they grew to be, together.

codependent but with so many loose ends they need to figure out before one of em can take that leap.

effie visits him whenever the longing overcomes the hurt of being left behind (twice), which is more often than she wants to admit right now. but she still leaves, partly because she's convinced she doesn't deserve the love her few people in twelve show her. partly because she loves haymitch for all that he is and was, but effie beaten and broken by the capitol because he left her behind is unconvinced he won't do it again.

Since I've found my people again (Been a Hayffie shipper since 2014 and even more now after SOTR) just wanted to enjoy this sweet little detail, how Haymitch gets up to toast only with Effie and then sits again... just huh! 💓
