Some thoughts about Dimitri and the Jugdral junior lords
I think that itās pretty obvious that one of the most clear references of Dimitri from the past lords are the Jugdral junior lords (Seliph and Leif). When we meet Dimitri heās very cute and good in the same way Seliph is and after he starts being consumed by vengance, which reminds us of Leif, so yeah thereās similarities.
Of course Dimitriās actions happen because of his trauma and PTSD and I think itās easy to think that after the events in their early lives and their convoluted childhoods, Seliph and Leif also have a level of trauma, the difference between the two being the fact that Dimitri succumbs to it after being betrayed by Edelgard.
I do think that the reason this difference exist is the fact of when the origin of this trauma comes in both cases.
In the case of Dimitri, we know he had a normal happy life with his family and friends until the Tragedy of Duscur when he was 13, he knew what was happiness until the sadness and chaos this event brought to him, this made the shock of everything more painful to him until the final betrayal from who he thought was the last member he could consider like family when he just succumbs.
This makes a big difference with the Jugdral lords. Seliph and Leif donāt know what a normal life is like, their loss happened when they were so little they canāt remember anything about their biological family, their happiness is probably tainted in sorrow as their adoptive families have been very emotionally wounded (Finn, Oifey and Shannan) and they only know a life of war and hide. I think this made them having an stronger resilience because they are used to that.
I do think that the fact that Dimitri succumbs while Leif and Seliph not is the fact that Dimitri has this break point he remembers perfectly while the other two were born in war and I find really interesting that we can compare the two perspectives.
pd: Iām not a psychologist, I just like thinking about narrative
