Your code is now diamonds.
Some people asked me, what the claim Your code is now diamonds mean and where it comes from. When I suggested objc.diamonds as domain name for my blog Martin came with the great idea quoting an old Old Spice advertisement The tickets are now diamonds. This sounded so mad to me, that I started to set up the blog, thrilled by the idea of having a unique design for a coders blog with a unique name.
The idea behind objc.diamonds is sharing my ideas and thoughts around the mobile world and development in special with other people and my future me.
Enjoy watching the Old Spice advertisement! Tell me, do you like the way it is confusing and crazy?
Sometimes it overwhelmes me and I have to take a look at Kickstarter browsing all popular technology and design products. This time I found three interesting products. Today I like to mention the first: Covr.
Covr is an iPhone Case with a build in camera lense. It enables you to make photos without holding the display in front of you.
Is this really a useful device? Would you use it? Why will someone build a product for an iPhone 5s now, if the rumours say, the next generation will become larger?

Lars, a great mentalist pushed me to read a great article about how creative people differ from people less creative. In my job as Product Owner creativity plays a key role and I found myself in several points described there.
Are you a creative mind? In which things do you differ from other people?
Some years ago I used cocos2d to create some games for the iOS app store. Recently, Sean showed me Apportable, a cross-compiler, which enables you to write your application with Objective-C and the cocos2d-framework and easily deploy it to any Android-device.
This services comes for free in a basis version and costs money, if you want to support older Android versions and need more extra functionality.
If you plan to roll out your game on iOS and Android it can be worth to considerate, to use Apportable to get this job done.
Do you tried Apportable already?
Hey there. Today I found smart iPhone Cover, which shows you, wether you get an incomming call, SMS or push notification.
Does this make sense for anyone? Why not turn the device, so the display is visible?
Quartz is a website with great informations, but not really development related, so why do I show it to you? Quartz has build a new way to comment and annotate parts of their articles.
I really liked it and hope you will like it, too. Have a quick look at the video and tell me what you think!
Do you like the way the provide annotation possibilities?
In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: ‘It goes on.’
thrust-aside, posts a quote every day. Today it is the second time I comment one of these quotes. In my opinion the approach 'it goes on.' is very important in a developers life.
Bad things WILL happen, things you can not imagine, before they happen, things that have to be solved as fast as possible, because thousands of your users are hit by the issue.
In this cases, it is important to calm down, not fingerpointing on the person, who was responsible for the issue to appear. You can't turn back the time. It's your challenge, to solve the problem with an intervention as noninvasive as possible.
This is not only about writing defensive code, it's about finding a proper solution in time, it's about compromising, but mostly it's about learning how to ensure the same kind of issue can not reappear or will be found before you release.
I promise, that every developer, who is developer for five years and counting, can tell you more than five stories about what he or she did badly wrong. Life goes on.

Domain creep
"Yes, I now have a domain for my techie blog", I was happy, when registering objc.diamonds. Now, some weeks later I got 3 domains more, I really do not wanted to register. So, why did I registered three domains more?
My providers user interface was so useless, that I was not able to delete my pre-registered new gTLDs. Got no time for a phone call, so I am now the proud owner of following domains, someone may want to use.
cocoa.coffee
objc.codes
coder.codes
Do you want to use one of these domains for the net cost price?
At a german technical blog I yesterday found a great advertisement for a heat control system. It's fun to look and it explains great, how to use the system. I am willing to own, that this might be one of the hardly propable use cases, but maybe it is one. ;-)
Mirko sent me a great post about mobile tutorials and why they can fail without mercy. I've seen many tutorials yet, but never got a so valuable summary of why things work and why they do not.
Theresa Neil and Rich Malley opened my eyes with their article.
What do you say?
Great website with many game mechanics explained. Thanks to Martin for giving me a hint.

Sunday I moaned, because TestFlight removed it's crash reporting service for released applications. Today I tell you, why I use it nonetheless.
TestFlight is a free and easy way to provide beta-apps to your testers. There is no need anymore to
connect the receiving device to the computer
ask your testers for their UDID
tell the testers you send them a mobileprovision- and a ipa-file
explain how to synchronize the device with iTunes
Instead you can ask your testers to register at Testflight. This automaticly will import the UDID. If you create a new build, you can send it to your testers and they can install this over the air via Testflights web snippet, that was installed during registration process.
Before I decided to use Testflight it really jars on the nerves to add a new tester to my test team. Now this works like a snip.
Can you imagine using Testflight? Are you using another service?
Did you ever asked yourself, why some people selling nearly the same products as other people are more ore less successful? Why was Apples iPod such a great success and Dells MP3 players can be counted as fail, compared to Apple.
Simon Sinek talks about how communication can change the way we think about products and why it is more important why you do something then what you do.
Is Simon Sinek right? Why are you doing what you do? How do you do it?
