First study of Belinda

Both took me about the same amount of time. But the evolution in skill and style is undeniable. In 2017 I was relying exclusively on my references picture. I could not add anything to it, If I wanted to modify something, I had to modify the picture first. Now I am simplifying shapes and adding light sources and colours. My edge work is honestly the most noticeable aspect which I have improved on. The thing which stayed the same are: still love abstracts backgrounds and yellow lights.

It was so hard to not scream about it publicly before the bbc actually shared my painting. But now I can! 😄‼️✨️

This is not a style in which I usually paint, and it might shock some of you to see something like that on here. I went into this painting with the intent of doing something semi-realist semi-impressionist, but as you can see, it is not at all the direction I ended up following. But I think it's what fits this piece the best. It's a representation of chronic pain from EDS, of how I feel it at least. And this feeling is not something that can be represented into something tangible. Pain is a feeling, and I needed this level of abstraction to show what it actually feels like.
