Brainsplosions Galore!

I just took the Quiz Rocket piercing quiz to see if it would confirm my desires of having a lip or labret piercing.

Here’s what it said:

“A belly button piercing is the perfect fit for you. You are feminine and flirty, and this piercing will show of your fun personality! “

Three things are wrong with this:

1. I clicked the options that indicated my more masculine tastes and even straight up clicked the stuff to spell out that I ain’t feminine, brah! There was also only one question with a flirtatious edge and I didn’t answer with that.

2. There is only ONE male option for the style influence. I clicked him even though I don’t even consider him a style influence but he was better than all the other selections. Al Jourgensen was not an option.

3. Nobody I have EVER known to have a belly button piercing has had a personality. They use it to compensate for their lack of one. No doubt, there are exceptions out there, but I’ve not met one that I know of.

I thought your whole movement was about the violence and poverty faced by African Americans on a regular basis...

So why is it that when I enter your hash tag into a Tumblr search the majority of stuff that pops up is people giving tips on caring for their natural hair, selfies and fashion photography?

Hell, even the stuff about ACTUAL oppression and societal misery that I’ve seen aren’t even about African Americans, but ABORIGINAL AUSTRALIANS.

Yeah, equating your movement with other people on the other side of the world that separated from Africans 50,000 ago (before Europeans did) that were the native people of of their homeland and have a lot more in common regarding their day to day struggles (Healthcare, life expectancy, cultural and linguistic erasure) with Native Americans doesn’t make any sense, but, “Oh their skin is dark. Therefore we are the same and go through the same struggles!”

No, No you fucking don’t. They suffer true oppression because they barely even have a voice that is heard. African Americans, however, are very much heard. Some make it their business to be heard even when it has no relevance to what is being discussed. There are plenty of African American rich celebrities making that voice heard even when they have the ability to help but don’t use it, there is affirmative action and nationally recognised days for their heroes EVEN A WHOLE DAMN MONTH DEDICATED TO THEIR HISTORY.

African Americans have it good compared to the villages in the middle of the outback where people are sleeping twelve to sixteen in a thrown together shack and parents are being separated from their children because of the government-peddled lie that a majority of their people are child abusers and rapists.

You pay your dad £300 and it’s not because you owe him but because if you don’t you’re a bastard because he’s only got £10 in the bank to last the next month.

It’s crap like this that makes me infuriated with a lot of feminist writers. CN didn’t even GET to the part about the organisation websites where more information was available (Links on their Twitter: https://twitter.com/cnlester?lang=en-gb). In fact they barely even got to talk at all because the conversation was derailed again because MEN ARE ATTACKING WOMEN LISTEN TO ME NOT THE RELEVANT DISCUSSION I’LL TALK OVER YOU BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT A WOMAN LIKE ME AND I AM THE IMPORTANT ONE HERE!

It’s a debate. Not a friggin’ soapbox... A debate about a loosely related issue to boot. And now there was no time to discuss it properly and people are dismissing it because of how confusing you made it. Thank you SO much.

Seems like the BBC is getting it’s info from channel 4. “Young, Trans and Looking For Love” also said that taking T makes you infertile like it applies to everybody and made the same slips ups of “born as a girl”. Also, strangely heteronormative about the whole thing. Like all trans people are straight as well and it’s not a common problem that a trans man is attracted to men and a trans woman is attracted to women. They couldn’t have gotten any examples or even mentioned it a few times? Nah? ANyway. The whole taking T makes you infertile thing is my main beef with it. There’s plenty of examples from the past 15 years that prove otherwise. Not to mention the COUNTLESS individuals like myself that have stable and above average natural T levels that are pretty much equal to someone on a regular medium injected dose that manage perfectly fine. The way that these documentaries word it, it sounds like your FIRST injection of T leaves you unable to have biological children. Which is massively damaging to those that need hormone injections to help tackle their dysphoria but ALSO want to have kids that are genetically their own.

Oh god... “The Sex Change Spitfire Ace?”

I’ve been keeping tabs on Channel 4′s recent Transgender documentaries both in the hope of finding stuff to show to my family to explain things about myself more, as well as looking back on my own journey and all the times I should’ve realised long before I did that I’m Transmasculine.

I tried to cut my own hair short with safety scissors when I was 3, was always wanting to be young male characters when playing house or in plays, was envious of my dad’s cousin’s beard and my uncle’s moustache (which he coincidentally got rid of the same week I first got my hair cut short for real) and used skirts from the dress-up boxes at home and school as flower petals, cloaks and even keffiyeh! How the hell do you miss that?

Anyway, I was willing to let the “Born in the Wrong Body” thing slide and the first part about two trans children mostly did fine (although there was one I saw in my mid-teens that was put up onto youtube that I would argue was a lot better despite faltering a bit on the pronouns front), but after watching the second part the quality and care taken by the writers, narrators and editors dipped MASSIVELY.

Constantly referring to the young men as being “born girls” or calling them “girls becoming men”, using footage from a non-binary person’s youtube videos (without their full permission BTW) in a documentary about trans men like they’re somehow the exact same thing, they somehow got their facts mixed up and actually said that taking T makes you completely infertile (despite this being the exact same channel that did a documentary about pregnant men in the past) and for some reason they censor the genitals the man having phalloplasty was born with but are perfectly fine with showing his and other men’s crafted bits like they’re somehow “not real” like the packer that gets thrown into a fire like some sort of staged movie scene near the end. Those are only the start of the issues with “Girls To Men”.

They dropped the ball so hard a poor kid in New Zealand will have a new one in time for Christmas! I’d like to say “at least they tried” and “their hearts were in the right place” but comparing it to the first documentary just makes me all the more upset about it.

Those guys bore their souls in the hope that their experiences would make people more aware of what it could take to reach the body you know you were supposed to be born with and Channel 4 handled them like a bull in a china shop with PMS (because he doesn’t need surgery to be a bull).
