what remnants were left behind by the phm/blip-a at tau ceti?

I can think of the corpses of yao li-jie and olesya ilyukhina, and the damaged fuel tanks containing taumoeba. one? of the two ships? in the book, they take the phm back as far as i can tell.

I was originally thinking maybe future civilizations might be able to harvest taumoeba from the blip-a and not have to go fishing on adrian. but unfortunately any taumoeba is dead from nitrogen flushes i think.

I want to hope that they didn't leave future civilizations completely out to dry, but i'm not sure what useful information/materials could be harvested from what was left behind. from an outsider's perspective, the blip-a was a failed mission with a dead crew.

But have you considered that the reason they went to Tau Ceti in the first place is because it didn't get dimmer like the other stars? And now there's two more stars that are not getting dimmer: Earth, and 40 Eridani A. So any subsequent missions might find the "failed" mission, or they'll find two planets that solved the problem and saved everyone.

I was writing from the perspective of a mission that launched before Earth/Erid recieved the taumoeba and either: a) arrived at Tau Ceti in the gap between the PHM launching the beetles and the beetles arriving at Earth/arriving at Erid b) their ship is not scanning every star in the galaxy for luminosity changes. c) the changes are observed, but the crew comes to the false conclusion that Erid/Earth solved their issues on their own without coming to Tau Ceti. Essentially thinking Earth/Erid as the more advanced planet in this situation, depending on how difficult it is to tie the Eridian ship to the brightening of 40 Eridani A.

#I was just postulating the negatives of finding a ghost ship at Tau Ceti.#Imagine if Grace (as a stand in for another planet's mission) found the ghost ship of the Blip-A for example #assuming the PHM isn't scanning every star in the region for luminosity #He's on a suicide mission and now from his perspective someone has already died here #that cant be great for the psyche yknow?#project hail mary #phm
