Women were treated as subservient and it that you shouldn’t treat other men as subservient, like they are beneath you. It is not talking about homosexuality. If it was, it would say it outright since the bible lists other things outright.

Also, whenever a Christian brings the book of Leviticus up, you should feel free to point out that these are rules that were given to make the Hebrew people prepared for when the son of God came to earth. In Christianity, it’s believed the son of God was Jesus. So by following the rules set in Leviticus or pushing them as things we should follow, they’re saying that Jesus was not the son of God, and that Jesus did not, in fact, die for our sins. Jewish people believe, in their faith, that the son of God hasn’t yet been born, so many choose to follow these rules.

Jesus also affirms the homosexual relationship between the Roman Centurion and his “slave”. The particular Greek word used to refer to this special slave was “pais”. Greek language studies and contexts show that a “pais” was a male love slave. Regular slaves were called “dolos”. The Centurion makes this distinction clearly when he asks Jesus to heal his slave (pais), and then to prove his status he tells Jesus that his slaves (dolos) go when he tells them to. But this slave (pais) was special. He was the Centurion’s lover.

Hearing this, Jesus was so amazed he says he had not found ANYONE ELSE who had such great faith. He then blesses the Centurion and heals his male lover.

Its difficult to live within a society of people who are incapable of accepting change. Its hard to keep up with the demands of the majority when all you want to be is yourself. Nonetheless, its impossible to endure being born into a family who thinks has a perfect grasp on “being normal” and “acceptable,” forcing you to practice these norms that are basically against all that you live for.

If you have been following me for quite sometime now, you’d know my story and the main reason why I am writing this blog post. It is 2:55am here in Manila and I can’t sleep because of all these things that are running through my mind. I have just finished binge-watching the fairly new local tv series entitled “The Rich Man’s Daughter,” which is, to keep it short, LGBTQ-themed. It’s not the JaThea/RaStro loveteam thats keeping me hooked to this series. But its the rawness and reality the people behind it are trying to impart to us. I know that the basic plot is overly dramatic. However, what I see as raw and real is how it shows the way some (if not most) Filipinos treat the LGBTQ community. Its making a point. And I hope it touches a lot of Filipino lives. Being a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer should not be seen like an epidemic. Its not a disease that needs to be cured. We are all of the same species. And being a lesbian shouldn’t mean that I am not normal.

Discrimination has long been rebuked upon by most of the human race. Or so we thought. Because still, anywhere we go, even though we do not hear anything directly said to us, judging eyes of people who are fickle-minded would still hurt. Gay jokes are all good and funny, but still do some damage if delivered inappropriately or without respect. We all have our limits. Everybody deserves to be respected. Be sensitive. We may not be like all you straight people, but we still have feelings. We are human. Just like you–like everybody else. So don’t ever single someone out just because he/she is different.

I can totally relate with Jade Tanchingco (Rhian Ramos) when it comes to her family problems. It freaking hurts to be called abnormal by your own parents and be forced into a future you don’t want to be a part of. I’ve been out for more than a couple of years now but my Dad’s still talking about me getting married and them having little grandbabies and all that nonsense. Then I’d be rolling my eyes saying, “Of course Dad, I will get married, some place where gay people are legally wed with all the gay rights and stuff and then I’ll get pregnant in vitro and have a dozen gay children. Just watch me.” Okay, well that’s all in my head but anyway, I will not give them satisfaction of making their wishes come true while I hide my gayness underneath all that shit–not as long as I have my head connected to my awesome body. So yeah, not ever.

I understand where they come from. Believe me, I really do. I grew up going to church every Sunday. And in between that, hundreds of prayer meetings, worship days and religious seminars. We have been active members of the church for as long as I can remember and I am thankful. I have a strong grasp with my faith and I am firmly grounded with God. So, I think God will not hate me if I am being myself right? I mean, when did he mention that, “Gay people go to hell.” Right? However, I am wondering where did these judging people got the idea that being gay is the work of Satan? Or any of that fucked up notion? Its giving me a freaking headache just thinking about it.
