Personally, I don’t think it matters. I first listened to TSE, then TME then THA, then The Bidding, then Night then Light then Ruler of Everything. Oh and Mucka Blucka. Those are the only ones I’ve actually listened to but I’ve read Reddit forums with lore deep dives and watched YT lore videos and read the lyrics for the others. I don’t think it matters what order you listen to them in or which songs you even listen to as long as you figure out the lore because if you don’t know the lore it’s super confusing 🫠

This sounds like "Do I have to read this chapter book front to back to understand it?" or "Hey can I watch this show on shuffle?" Do you see why this sounds a bit idiotic? You have to actually take the time and go through the album with your own lense in order to see the nuance and meaning in it.

It's fine to originally listen to it out of order! But if you want to actually get into anything you have to, at least once, do a full listen to the intended order

Listening to the album in order actually does help in understanding the lore quite a bit (surprising i know :|) and after that go talk to people if you need help!! Also don't trust YouTube, there's like one video I can think of and its ABHORRENTLY bad for lore 💀

to answer the first bit! i think i've mentioned it a couple times before, but the way i "read" CCCC is that the start of the "story" in a linear timeline it at Haiku and ends at Banana Man. so everything from Haiku-Dream is the Calamity Era (or Heart's Rule, bc he was the one in charge at that time).

however, this of course is not how the songs are presented. so i interpreted that the "in story" loop doesn't happen at TMR, but post-Banana Man and its not the characters themselves looping, but us as in the audience going back in time to see how everything started.

as for the second question, the reason why i don't agree with loop theory (as in, i don't consider the album to be a time loop where HMS(W) go through the same exact events over and over is because.

i want them to be happy. that's literally it honestly.

i took the mentions of "we been here like a thousand times" and "been here before and will be once more" to refer to mental ruts and issues that have caused splits in the past. but i like to think that there’s hope for them. that yeah the arguments and splits might not immediately stop happening, sure. but they’ll getting better and worse and even better again and again until one day, maybe, they’ll be okay.

beside, no one knows the canon story anyways, and mr jash sure as hell won’t tell us any time soon so fuck it we ball
