always interesting whenever people start talking about polyamory as particularly unstable or prone to jealousy bc it begs the question of if they’ve ever seen or heard of monogamous couples
are you aware that those people are having sincere earnest discussions on whether following someone on social media counts as cheating
There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.
The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.
The hospital says some limits on helipad access add pressure when children need lifesaving care.
Apparently this has been going on for decades and is only getting traction because a pilot complained on Twitter.

“What if poor people abuse the system?”
The system intrinsically abuses poor people.
Hope this helps.
"What if poor people abuse the system?"
Rich people abuse the system far more and out of pure greed, not necessity or desperation so idrc about that
"you only deserve food and shelter if you contribute to society" says people living in countries where nobody's labor actually feeds or benefits their neighbors anymore but exclusively benefits the companies keeping the food and shelter behind the artificial paywalls
You're not nomads relying on each other to hunt and gather anymore, you're talking about stocking shelves for fucking wal marts
And even the oldest societies on earth all took care of the elderly or sick anyway
dudes will be like "if you don't Contribute To Society you don't get to live, that's the simple facts" meanwhile their job is like Marketing and Brand Development Specialist

Come hear Emmrich say, "Emmrich's big naturals," in the Emmrich voice.
Also read the wonderful fic that @opulentshits wrote that this is based on HERE!!
I love the amount of hatred the 2021 car is drawn with. because I agree
do you ever think about how susie deltarune has old baggy clothes and jokes about hurting herself and is constantly hungry and eating things she shouldn’t and instead of adults noticing the obvious signs of neglect and trauma they just called her a bad kid and punished her for it.
also the fact she’s clearly not neurotypical. like not only her blasé attitude with self harm suggesting she might have some issues with that but her lack of social skills her difficult with writing her anger issues these are all things she needs help with and is instead being punished for.

Mate we don't have that in either Australia or New Zealand!!
US employers can overcome this issue w/their own power by instituting "unlimited PTO" policies. We don't have to stoop to the low lows of our government's inadequacies and lack of basic human decency.
I failed at a lot of things, but this change was one of my biggest crowning achievements at my last gig before I left. I couldn't get a "you can have up to 2 years" provision in there, but I was able to institute a very generous UPTO policy for an "American" org.
As a nonprofit executive at a small grassroots local nonprofit, I didn't answer to shareholders frothing at the mouth to kill employees for profit. All I had to do was recognize my own power and then make a business case to my board as to why it was smart.
I had the power to codify something meaningful into policy and so I pushed it. I was shocked by how many of my peers who had the same power at their own nonprofit agencies or small businesses but acted like their hands were tied. They simply just didn't want to be bold and real and match their policies to their supposed values. So they spent their time on things that personally benefit them alone and not their staff who do the actual work of the org.
Lmao don’t worry you’re breaking nothing to me. I actually knew somebody was going to say this and I almost proactively included my rebuttals against it in my original post, but it was already so wordy that I figured nobody was gonna read it anyway.
OK, so here’s how you mitigate it as a leader who actually has power the way that I did. You set a policy where at least once a quarter supervisors meets with their supervises specifically about time off taken and works with them to create more opportunities to take time if they are not taking as much as they would have in our previously non-unlimited PTO system.
A small part of my staff was really afraid that when I instituted UPTO, it wasn’t real and we were all going to not be taking time off to try to impress each other and look like the hardest working people.
But again you just forecast and mitigate that as the leader with clear expectations and setting the tone. Do I reward people for excellent work well done? Or do I reward them for how many hours they just sit at their desk and look like they are chained to it? Do I reward them for results? Or do I reward them for how much it seems like they are killing themselves to do it?
Obviously, I am somebody who would choose the first one. So I did and we tried it out for a year. The result was that after the first year that we instituted the new policy, 20% more PTO was taken staff wide than the year before it. AND we also had about a 30% increase in program outputs agency wide.
Companies like Meta who have done the same policy changes literally have boasted in their reports that like nobody actually takes time off anymore, to those frothing at the mouth shareholders.
But again, I am not Meta. I was a small nonprofit leader who could actually do things the right way and so I’m trying to appeal to people who have that kind of power within their locus of control directly.
It takes moving heaven and earth to change the government or companies like Meta. It just takes a couple of good compelling arguments and peers who do the same to change a small nonprofit or company.
Like do we want to actually try new things, or do we just want to say that they’re never gonna work and we never try?
I really try not to do this unless I absolutely need the help, but I absolutely need help in this instance.
To give you a brief tldr I'm leaving the country, my ticket is already bought, I have a place to go, and quite possibly even a job lined up when I get there.
The issue lies in trying to get my stuff moved. I have found an international moving company that is very well rated and has given me the lowest quote they can, I have a bit of money saved up in expectance for this but I'm about $1800 shy. I've already put in my leave date at work and I cannot overstay any longer than I have already allotted myself to.
I know I'm asking at like the worst possible time, it's just after Christmas everyone's fucking broke I know that. But any little bit helps even sharing this post would help me immensely.
