This made me think about this panel from Calvin and Hobbes:

Nothing gives you the same sort of rush as digging a hole and extracting a surprisingly large rock out of said hole.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s Olruggios turn to say something that’s just. Mindbendingly gay. We got the whole “you are the sky’s kindest and most radiant star” spiel from Qifrey, and I think we should let Olly have a turn. As a treat

I think my frustration with a big critique of TLOVM and how Scanlan is absent for a few significant things (Glintshore, lots of S4) often compare those moments to the campaign and his reaction there, which I think (in this particular instance) at this point in the show when there is 1 season left, it can't be done because there's clear purpose to isolating Scanlan from the others.
he's clearly pulling back from them. yes, to be with his daughter but also because of the feelings he'd been pushing down that came out during the Bard's Lament. for a Scanlan Superfan like myself, i missed him this season, sure, but it wasn't completely detrimental to the season's quality for a few reasons.
firstly, because i trust them to finish his arc in a satisfying way. the way season 4 ends kind of, in my mind, has him set up to be someone to pick up the pieces and maybe deal with the consequences of his absence from the group.
secondly because his absence gives me more space to interpret and do things with him in my writing that interest me, which is a core part of experiencing any form of art: how you interpret it.
A lot of the complaints about him being absent and therefore taking out some important moments from the campaign don't really land for me because they aren't meeting the show on its own level and what it's doing with the characters.
Because, let's be real, Scanlan didn't start off in the campaign as a deep of a character as he is in the show at least. From everything I know, Sam didn't intend for him to come out like that from the start. Which is fine! But the thing with adapting it with the benefit of hindsight is that there's a chance to change up his arc with his character as a whole in mind, and sometimes that means losing a few character moments in favour of emphasising some elements of his arc.
Ultimately, I trust the cast— y'know the people who created and acted as these characters for literal years, putting parts of themselves in them and experiences the emotions that they experienced, again, for years— to do their arcs justice.
My inability to ask questions in a way where I would get the answer I was trying to ask for is a chronic thing. This one time me and my boyfriend were helping out at his parents' cabin, carrying some planks from the yard to the car and loading them into the trailer to be carried off. I asked his dad, "what were you planning with these, where will they end up?" which in my defense is a lot more coherent sentence in finnish ("Mihin [käyttöön] nää sitte menee?"). What I was trying to ask was what they are planning to build from all this wood material, what are they going to use all this wood for?
And his dad looked at me and answered: "In the trailer."
My inability to ask questions in a way where I would get the answer I was trying to ask for is a chronic thing.
Research suggests autistic people may have different communication styles and preferences to non-autistic people. Communication differences must be present for an autism diagnosis, but these can vary widely between autistic people.
Nobody in my boyfriend's family has been suspected or tested for autism.
I thought this was just a Finnish thing. My Finnish father-in-law always asks the vaguest possible version of a question first, then waits for people to ask for clarification before asking a more specific follow up. My BIL does it too fairly often, he even clocked it recently and joked about finding another way he was turning into his dad.
Honestly now that I think about it, it is a kind of a politeness thing, a way to avoid prying. Like asking the question you want to ask as broadly as possible at first, to gauge whether or not the person you're asking is receptive to discussing the thing you actually want to ask.
Or alternatively (the way I mostly do it), it's a small safety measure just in case I have been told the right answer and my brain just didn't register it. Like I can ask "What are you planning to do with these?" when I mean "what are you going to build out of these?" but I'm prepared for the answer being "they're going into the landfill, I literally already told you that."
be honest am i going to scale well late game?

"being a human is so boring why can't I be one of the COOL animals" okay hey. I hear you. but I actually really super love being an omnivorous persistence hunting primate with a stomach capable of dissolving many literal poisons and the ability to smell geosmin (released in the soil after it rains) at five parts per trillion. I super enjoy being a bipedal terrifyingly agile mammal with some of the most efficient sweat glands in the animal kingdom. I find a lot of joy in being an endotherm with mimicry abilities that rival most other animals with vocal chords. it's sick as hell I'm having a lot of fun
