Please include the artist credit if you reblog this! I own a print of this map, which I bought about 10 years ago from the artist, Nakoma Volkman. This map took twenty years for him to research and create, largely by conducting interviews with members or descendents of all these nations and asking them where they considered the "true homeland" of their people to be.

Nakoma is in this 80s now and has had a truly incredible life and career of service not just to North America indigenous communities but also working with the Mosetene people of Bolivia in the 60s. He's been a member of the Chicago AIC since the 50s, was a founder of the Native American Center of Southeast Minnesota, and did gang intervention work in Chicago in the 60s as well.

He runs the business Nakoma Arts Traditions with his wife Kati, but they have been struggling since COVID, particularly with counterfeiting and having his works posted without permission or credit like this. I believe they are attempting to launch an online shop, but in the meantime you can actually support the artist by viewing a gallery of his work here and emailing a request to purchase to [email protected].

Does AO3 host stories written by Palestinian authors? Then it's a terrorist organization. Done.

AO3 is at some risk, and as most of us in this corner of Tumblr are here for fandom, so that's what first comes to mind. But this bill, if made law, would be used to destroy nonprofits like the ACLU, GLAAD, the World Wildlife Fund - the list goes on.
