Tender, flavorful pulled pork infused with the sweet and tangy flavors of apple cider, perfect for sandwiches or served over rice.
Ingredients: 3 lbs pork shoulder, trimmed. 1 cup apple cider. 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 2 teaspoons smoked paprika. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme. 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon cloves. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg. 1 onion, sliced. 2 apples, sliced.
Instructions: Bring the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and brown sugar to a small bowl. Mix them together. Cover the pork shoulder with the spice mix and rub it all over. Lay the apple slices and sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the apple cider and apple cider vinegar. The pork shoulder should be put on top of the apples and onions. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours, until the pork is soft and easy to shred. Take the pork out of the slow cooker when it's done cooking and shred it with two forks. Once you get the pork back in the slow cooker, mix it with the onions and juices. Enjoy the pulled pork on buns or over rice.
