My yugioh protagonist, Yumeko IgarashiΒ
I just had a flashback to my one attempt to write a Yu-Gi-Oh! fic, though it was entirely on paper.
The main character of the fic was technically a self-insert, but I also made three OCs along with them to also be isekai'd into the setting (one of which was to be a villain). I also made a kid for the SI and one of the OCs for GX, with the added wrinkle that his parents died in a fire and his deck he inherited from the SI still smelled like smoke.
I also also made up an eighth Millennium Item, the Millennium Signet, which was a finger ring whose only power for the SI was basically invulnerability. Which was in part because the ring actually was supposed to go to the son and contained the Spirit of the Captain of the Royal Guard.
YOOO that's hype! Yumeko wasn't my self insert attempt personally, that was a different story. Yumeko was my attempt at fleshing out an entire yugioh series complete with its own summon gimmick called Yugioh: Evolution Revolution
The basic summary goes
An underground circuit of kidnapped duelists, a rescued teenager plunging back into the abyss, a strange too smart cat, and new friends and enemies that push our hero beyond her limits, it must be Yugioh ER! After being rescued from the underground duel circuits Yumeko finds herself in ownership of a far too intelligent supposed emotional support cat as she tries to recover. This peace comes to an end after another student from her school goes missing. As Yumeko realizes the circuits arenβt behind her after all, she must enter back into the circuit, this time as not a kidnapped victim, but a willing participant at night. Through her victories she helps get other victims to safety and learns that these duels are getting more and more realistic, and more dangerous, by the match.
If Yumeko Igarashi wants to succeed and find out the truth beyond both the duels and her far too intelligent cat, she's going to need to Evolve past herself and become someone even stronger.
