Corrie Spoilers - Don't Read if You Don't Want Spoilers!

The current storyline is very interesting because I've seen more normalisation of this kink and I don't know how many people realise just how dangerous it is. Obviously in stories and fiction it's just a fantasy that people explore but I did martial arts a long time ago for a year and in my class I learned and practised chokeholds.
For people who don't know ANY choking is EXTREMELY dangerous and we learned it only for use in life or death situations. They are usually practised with plenty of pre-warning for an awareness of the choke coming and then as you receive the choke you tap as soon as you feel it one the choking point and I do mean as SOON as you feel it. It's barely a second. It's an instant feeling then you quickly tap tap tap on their arm or shoulder and it's stopped.
Choking takes mere seconds, so yeah don't let anyone EVER do that to you unless in a trusted secure martial arts setting. It's practised extremely carefully and it's the one area you NEVER want to let people harm, along with the head and the spine, which is why learning to break fall is often a part of martial arts classes too.
Corrie did brilliantly in my opinion with this storyline so far. There definitely isn't enough awareness of the danger of choking and yet it is reportedly becoming a more common practise among younger people.
