Max and Mike are too similar, so I think they would understand each other a bit too well for them to be comfortable with each other in the group, but that's until they talk alone and suddenly bond over their avoidance issues.

I headcanon Max being the only one that can call Mike out on his behavior, and him listening, although only after swearing at her and reflecting alone a bit later.

(Max said she doesn't care but she TOTALLY does lol, from this moment on she is keeping an eye on Wheeler. To make sure he doesn't stray and maaaybe gently mock him into the right direction and knock some sense into him)
