Forgive your enemies, but don't forget their names.
u see the problem isn't that im bad at time management it's that i want to be a marine biologist, an all a AP student, an electrical engineer, an oboe player, an avid reader who's read thousands of books, a fashion icon, a health goddess, a studyblr account, an active art account, and an utter clean freak and let me tell u that's not workin out pal
I recently got a message asking how to color code notes, and because it was such a hit I decided to expand on the topic!
Color coding your notes is proven to enhance your learning and make you a more efficient thinker. Try using these few tips and see how much your note taking experience improves!
Write your notes using a black pen
Pencils get smudged easily when highlighted, and often fade. Using a fast-drying pen will ensure that the ink does not smudge.
TIP: Write your original notes in pencil, make additions, add diagrams, get all the facts in. Once you get home, rewrite your notes neatly in pen, organizing the topics and making sure you understand the material.
Use highlighters to color code
Choosing to use colored pens is much more time consuming, and can make it hard to find key topics when rereading the notes.
TIP: Although highlighters take up much more space than pens, try to find some travel sized highlighters that save space.
Have a key
Yellow: important points, facts, examples, etc.
Pink: very important factors, key points, definitions, teacher additions, etc.
Blue: undefined words, confusing topics, requires research, etc.
Green: dates, names, places, etc.
Purple: works cited, authors, etc.
Don’t overdo it
Highlighting too many words will in return emphasize nothing. Don’t highlight entire sentences, only key points in the sentences. Try to keep it to a maximum of 4 words highlighted in a row.
Use corresponding sticky notes to elaborate
For example, use a green sticky note on the side of your paper to go into more detail about Abraham Lincoln’s early life.
TIP: As an alternative, use white sticky notes and a pen in that corresponding color.
Keep it short and sweet
Don’t feel like you have to color code your entire paper! Only highlight what is necessary. If you can summarize in a shorter sentence, do so. As long as you understand and can remember the information- that’s what matters.
Hopefully you find these tips to be of some help. Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like to suggest a topic for my next post.
So Helpful!! :)
This is a really good book about social justice in America!! It's really topical right now, please give it a read.

New weekly spread~
Check out my studygram, I just made it! It’s the same username.
can we clear something up?
I see this too often, even from my OWN ENGLISH TEACHERS.
Homograph: Same spelling (see the GRAPH part), different pronunciation, different meaning. Bow as in the hair accessory, bow as in bowing after a show.
Homophone: Same pronunciation (see the PHONE part), different spelling, different meaning. Two, too.
Homonym: Can mean homophone or homograph, OR it can mean that they are spelled AND pronounced the same, but spelled differently. I prefer only using it for that last one, but to each their own. Bear (animal), bear (to withstand)
I don’t know about you, but I low-key love it when people underestimate me. Because then in my head I see it as a challenge and I’m like: ‘BITCH, WATCH ME’ and proceed to be 1000x more motivated to conquer (and make them feel foolish for doubting me.)
And when I actually do the thing I’m all like: ‘..you were saying??’

I need this tbh
an idea:
I have my school map annotated with where certain classes are, where the bathrooms are, where the stairs are, quick traffic free routes, and other checkpoints. I think it might be helpful if I print out some extra copies and give them to other freshman who maybe lost their map. Would that be a nice thing to do??? or just overbearing and extra and weird?? idk
YOYOYO
Sooooo I’m Gen! I made this account to motivate me to study more, and I don’t really know the intricacies of tumblr or studyblr yet. Anywho here’s some about me stuff: -I’m a freshman
-I’m a slytherin and neck deep in the Harry Potter fandom
-I run an Instagram art account
-I’m in geometry, physics, and english (all advanced), and for electives I take band and visual arts. I’m being tutored in Spanish, which I’ve taken for 9 years. (My schedule isn’t final though, the school kinda messed it up)
-I love musicals- especially BMC and the Book of Mormon
-I’m not that great at studyblr yet. But I’m trying.
Reblog if you're a studyblr
Looking for more blogs to follow and I can never seem to find any by searching on my own. I’m hoping this will make its round so not only I can find some good new blogs to follow but other people can, too!
PLEASE reblog if you’re a studyblr, even (especially) if you’re a new baby one, I’d love to support you on your journey!
Hey, there!
I’m Eli, the owner of this blog - @textbookhermione. You can also follow my main blog - @readinggglasses I just joined the studyblr community with school starting in two weeks. I’ll be going into 8th grade, yes, I know, quite young for a studyblr, but I think this blog will absolutely help me be more accountable for my school work.
A little about me…
- I’m 14
- I do showchoir, perform in muscials, as well as sing, play the ukulele, and the piano.
- I’m a Ravenclaw
- I’m interested in learning Italian in my free time since I don’t want to go ahead of my school lessons in Spanish.
- I have some mental health issues, so if posts aren’t consistent, please be understanding! I do hope to share my experiences with you though. :)
- I take advanced math and English, so some of my classes are at a standard freshman level, if any freshmen want to chat about those subjects.
Tagging my favorite studyblrs…

applying for schools can suck
This is your friendly reminder that you won’t always get into the school you want. I’m talking specifically about high school here. My reside school isn’t great, but I didn’t get into any of the schools I applied for. When this happens, it’s hard to realize that it doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough. It might be they had too many people who had the same talents as you, or they were looking for something different, or maybe they just simply didn’t have room. The way my school system works, they have to place gifted kids into less than fantastic schools to give teachers something to work with. Therefore, I ended up going to my reside school. It’s not great, but the important thing is that we do our best with what we have and keep trying for the schools we want.
