He sucks BAD but its also oddly pitiful. He has no excuse but we do have an "explaination" or can think of one at least. it doesnt justify anything at all ofc. but we can work from it.

Also the samlyle ship is something i also love and hate. Useualy "stalker ships" are Not something i gravitate toward, they are either not written in a way i like or just in a way thats bad or ick me. (Being so serious when i say samlyle is the FIRST stalker ship i ever found myself liking)

lyle and sams characters are far from black and white and one note. And the way they feel about each other and themselves and thier differing behaviors make it very intresting to think about.

Lyle is guilty. Sam is far too forgiving. Lyle can get better and improve, but he can also get worse its like a tightrope. Sam doesn't fully know. And lyle put himself in a messy corner by joining the party. And they are both extremely lonely middleaged men who are recluses and hide themselves away in some form.

In my mind:

Either the apycolypse, thier issues and some of thier similaritys made it so they are so wierd and bizarre and messy that it turns back around to ok-ish and kinda cute. <- only after lyles questline!!!!!!! Its not impossible. I mean sam became friends with roaches in a trench coat and helped them learn about governments so nothings impossible i guess.

Or

In a more "relistic" view. They start a relationship and break up but stay friends? That or lyle just doesnt go for it at all after m&w aka just a platonic version of above. And honestly! Toxic/doomed One sided to platonic is undrused in spaces!

And of course the doomed aaaaaaa version where lyle gets worse and more obessive (aka the boss fight) and we get the messy sad and disturbing battle and fall. Also very possible.

Lyle and sams relationship is so intresting. Its far from a good one but it doesnt have to be a bad one either. I think thats what draws me in?

I also. Really like that lyle never fully tells sam in the questline?

I know alot of people wish he did and I WOULDNT SAY NAY if we get an update and he did. But theres an extra grab for me when lyle. Not realizes but acknowledges his bad heavior and how its hurt himself and the people he likes both sam and his new acquaintances in the complex and he steps back and tries to evaluate, by himself.

Lyle relising this all by himself and taking time to focus and work on it is interesting. But he doesnt tell sam, and while i think and ponder how he would have. The fact he diddnt kinda feels? Good???

Like its not sams responsibility. Lyles a grown man and Sam was a victim of lyles shitty mind and behavior., sams a amazing guy but still hes just a GUY with a ton of stuff on his shoulders rn.. Its not sams responsibility to make sure Lyles ok and tell him his opinions on his own stalking situation.

Lyle aklowlaged he needs to work and change on himself after the questline. Not just for sams peace but for his own health and he doesnt put it on sams shoulders, he keeps it to himself for now and i think. I really like that.
