I love imagining that every eridian welcome committee comic takes place in the same universe and that grace just never said anything about it.

hi! i was going through your answered asks and previous posts where i saw you use the words proship/proshipper and profic. could you please define these terms? i've just heard them used a lot (not just on your blog but a few others too) and i'd like to know what they mean. as far as i understand it means that you're for shipping any and all characters with each other regardless of whether or not they have support from canon?

proship means âyou believe people can ship whatever they want even if the ship is taboo and controversial (like incest, an adult and a minor, or a sex offender and their victim, etc, within the realm of fiction), even if you are personally uncomfortable with the ship. so proship covers everything, be it a canon and healthy ship, a non-canon ship, or a taboo ship. the core value is that you can separate fiction from reality and you basically mind your own business and let people ship whatever they want as long as no one in real life is harmed. so even if you personally find a ship disgusting, as long as you donât shame or harass people who enjoy the ship and just mind your own business, ignore/mute/block what you donât want to see, then by the definition youâre proship.â
being proship also means youâre against censorship and youâre against harassing real people over fiction.
proship and profic overlap a lot.
profic means the same thing as proship, the only difference is that while proship focuses on ships, profic focuses on fanfics. but their core values are the same thing: âcensorship is bad. donât harass real people over fiction. curate your own internet experience, mind your own business and let others do whatever they want as long as itâs fiction and no one in real life is harmed.â
So I was looking up past skin color, and eyes, and realized that looking these things up for someone WITHOUT dysmorphia was messing with my head. Make up tutorials were left and right and there was a lot, actually a TON of body shaming without neutral terms. URRGGGHHH. I wanted to throw things across the room.
I need the neutral terms because our society judges so much on physical features and I really want to celebrate body diversity. Also, I think by me doing it, rather than a writer with dysmorphia, etc, that I might be saving someone else from mental distress. The internet is rough out there an not everyone can afford Gray's Anatomy.
Of course you could mix it up, add judgment, but I think we all need a good baseline without being inundated with "Your facial features are wrong." and "Asian nose" and "Black nose" and all of the realllly racist things from Wiki How. WTF do you mean a "Roman nose" means one is a "ruler" and having a "Nubian Nose" (the slant way to describe a "Black nose") means you have "power" SHUT UP. !@#$.

There is not one nose that all of Asia with that many ethnicities has. Same with ANY population. Diversity within. Always.
I tried to organize it from if you saw this person from a distance what would you notice first. I kicked out all racist and judgy terms, fruit, meat, knives, food and otherwise colonizing/imperializing products that would give people flashbacks.
This took quite a bit of time to look all of this up and the mental hits I took reading all of the plastic surgeon and cosmetic crap they post, so if you spread it to others I ask for credit. It was a few days of work, trying to read anatomy, etc.
I also tried my best to link to neutral sources like anatomy books. I could not find the vocabulary for the little wrinkles on the lips inside of the vermilion zone. I looked everywhere, but if you're an anatomy nerd and know, you can drop a note.
As I said before, you don't need the complete list for every character. Use what sticks out to the PoV character. I also made these lists to push myself and others to represent different standards of beauty and also push more diversity within characters.

Words like philtrum, thenar, mandible, manubrium, etc can be useful for particularly mysteries, horror, etc. Older editions are online for free. If you buy the book (which is expensive, BTW), donât store it on a top shelf. A few authors I know of have had it fall on their heads killing them. I used to ask my family doctor when I was a kid for anatomy parts and he often didnât know.

Tommy carrying around his weapon implies that heâs not only trusted by Techno to carry it but also favored enough to keep it on his own for a bit. It also implies that Techno is going to return for the weapon, at some point. They do not want to be there when he returns. Absolutely not
This also with wilbur and phil but phil leaves his bow and arrows with wilbur and wil can use it decently in the sense that he can shoot an arrow but he canât make himself actually shoot a person in battle. So often times heâll shoot a warning shot instead and the specific type of arrows phil uses are recognizable enough to make people falter.
