Okay, hear me out on this.
If the brozone brothers were all a different stage of grief, which ones do you think they would be?
I think It really depends on what fanfic youāre reading but itās cool to hear what other people think about this question.ļæ¼
Personally⦠I think the most obvious one would be clay being anger, not only because of the movie but also because how heās so often depicted in fanfiction. I feel like it matches both for my current fic, and for what happened in the movie, (though I could be wrong. I havenāt watched it in a year or two)
Then I think the others could all be switched in between each other because they technically would all go through the stages of grief at some point, without any of the others outwardly representing one in particular besides branch.ļæ¼
Like it would make sense for Cannon branch to be depression because of everything that happened after his brothers left. But in my fanfiction branch could be bargaining because after everything he went through heās still trying to find a way to have his brothers back in his life.
But it would also make sense for it to be denial or acceptance because he would either deny that he had brothers in the first place or except that they were gone from his life for probably forever.
In my fic Bruce would be depression. Not only did he blame himself for almost everything that happened. He also thinks of himself as a coward for leaving his brothers in that way, along with the fact that the one attempt he made to reach out to the only brother he assumed was alive, sending the letter to John, was still not even an attempt to reach out because he never signed the letter or wrote an address.
Floyd hasnāt been fleshed out much in my fic. So I could really go either way with him. I donāt know how I could include bargaining into his character, but I feel like because heās always the mediator between their fights. He would always be kind of bargaining or trying to get his brothers to get along no matter what was going on. He would always try to bargain in the way of promising himself if he found his brothers that he would be better for them, (even if he wasnāt even remotely a part of the problemā¦)
Personally, John in the fic Iām writing would be acceptance. Not just because he would be the main focus character, and we would already see him go through all the other stages of grief, but also because he had to go through all of that and while he never forgave himself completely, he still did move on from what happened because he accepted that he was a stupid kid Doing the best he could back then.
Sure, he still feels guilty and he feels even more terrible once he realizes his brothers are actually alive instead of dead like he thought. But he did let himself move on, even if it was a little. It took him a long time and a lot of support, but eventually he realized being so stuck on what happened and what he did was keeping him from being happy with the new friends and family he built after leaving the tree.
The instead of being miserable all the time because his brotherās never got to feel the happiness he does (because he thinks theyāre dead) he should move on in their memory and be happy despite everything that happened because his brothers were what made him the person he was today/present fic
Idk that was a really long rant and I hope it makes sense. Honestly, this just came up as a thought in my head, and I hadnāt even thought about the brothers being stages of grief until now, and I donāt even know how I would properly incorporate it into a fic besides alluding to it with characteristics and words.
Honestly just felt like getting my thoughts out into words to make it make sense in my head.
