chaotic confused

every form of bigotry has had a huge spike in broad social acceptability even since last year. like obvs we've been seeing broad reactionary trends for awhile, but they just keep accelerating the pace!

seeing this happen SO rapidly has felt reality warping from my weird position (no non tumblr socmed, almost never see ads, and evading the vast majority of the culture industry in general since my disabilities make enjoying tv/movies/music difficult and idc about celebrities).

i can only assume that a lot of people in the mainstream are being fed a steady flow of propaganda that has made this shift feel less extreme to them, because the people who are most shifting to accommodate fascist values often seem completely unaware that they are doing that, or that there's been any meaningful shift at all.

it just feels so intense the accelerating rate at which everybody's getting so much more comfortable with open white supremacy, Islamophobia, misogyny, transphobia, fatphobia, homophobia, ableism, etc etc.

even in activist movements, we're seeing a lack of care for intersecting oppressions as well as surges in the popularity of reactionary logics

(see: the current revival of simplistic second wave style gender essentialism being attempted at least two ways by two opposing movements)

and outright bigoted feuds between movements with a lot of shared goals,

as well as even more intense versions of the usual problems of people filling theory knowledge gaps with vibes that feel right to a largely uninformed person being fed a steady diet of propaganda. bc the current propaganda is dire.

like please tell me somebody else is noticing this!!

bc I talk to people who live on youtube or twitter or whatever, and i keep having to be like wait.

why are you suddenly chill w shit u railed against when u had what I now guess must've just been a "giving a shit about oppression" phase that you're, like, totally over now? or why do u suddenly spout bigoted bs while still calling urself a feminist or whatever?

if i had changed my gender marker to anything but male i wouldnt be able to get it currently.

even then, if the implication that im non-binary shows up anywhere in my paperwork i wont get it without denouncing it.

of course i still have to take tests to prove im not intersex, or i wont get it.

and of course the expected roughly year long therapy to get approval. (though maybe im lucky and its a bit quicker)

and potentially 3 applications to my insurance. (because its very possible i get a bigot assigned to my case and only after refuting a denied application twice will i get a new case worker. though this is if im unlucky. and bc at some point its more expensive for them to keep denying me than to just approve it and money is all they care about.)

and since im already in treatment for depression (and other stuff) and literally any mental health diagnostic makes things more difficult, i have to get an extra note from a therapist that no im not only doing this bc im depressed or autistic or whatever.

none of this includes the search for a clinic and doctor to do the op, the aftercare (both physical and psychological) or literally anything else.

hey all, as you may or may not know, I have a condition called guillain-barre syndrome that has caused, among other things, my hands to be partially paralyzed, making typing and using a mouse more difficult and painful. my physical and occupational therapists have suggested I look into getting an ergonomic mouse and keyboard that would be less strain on my hands and wrists, and if anyone can help me do that it'd be greatly appreciated~!
