One of the things I love about Cinderella Boy is the way Punko uses the method of "Show, don't tell". And I especially love it in the most recent free ep of the comic, because it's genuinely so fascinating (squeer-el rant incoming).
In this scene we see Chase sitting on a giant star and being lowered to the ground, where Buddy is waiting for him. And honestly, that's so beautiful, because it indicates the whole shift in stargoth's relationship and how Buddy is finally ready to accept Chase's love in its entirety.
In previous arcs, we've seen scenes where Chase is standing and Buddy is looking UP at him in adoration. He doesn't simply admire him, he's literally looking up at him, while he himself is sitting down, kneeling or existing at a space lower than him.
That's because, to him, Chase is something sacred. Like literally, he has seen him as an angel and his image is always framed by golden light in Buddy's point of view. A perfect halo, if you will (eheh). He looks at him as something to adore from a distance, something warm that he's too afraid to reach for, because he doesn't think he's fully deserving of it. It's just like Chase said in his song, he looks at him like he's fire and gold and Buddy walks like a shadow that has only known cold. Of course he's drawn to Chase. And he's afraid that by being near him, he's gonna stain his very being.
Chase knows that but doesn't call him out. He's just reminding Buddy that he's ALLOWED to reach, and that he's literally just a guy, not someone that Buddy needs to idolize and put on a pedestal. That way he's freeing him from his guilt of not being good enough.
By having Chase being lowered down, Punko shows that (in Buddy's eyes) he isn't this glowy untouchable presence anymore, he's the guy he loves. He's no longer looking up, but staring right in front of him, because they're at the same level now. No one is considered superior/kinder compared to the other. They're equals and that's due to the fact that Nox isn't self loathing anymore. Loving and being loved and appreciated by Chase has its impact on his self image too. And goddamnit that's how love is supposed to feel like, because when you're being truly loved, you start loving yourself as well
