Lilé left him alone.
Nothing she could have said would have made any difference, and she knew going to Thomas would only make things worse. So she stayed away for the rest of the day - and the day after.
Their bond was such that the majority of the Court noticed its absence. Deorsa knew why, but no one else did, and no one else dared ask. Lilé kept mostly to herself, the guilt eating away at her. It had been a horrible case of misunderstanding, and now there was nothing she could do to take it back.
On the third day, she visited Loki in his study, the dark circles under her eyes betraying her turmoil as she stood there, pale and fragile.
“How is he?” Her voice was soft, hesitant. Loki’s study had always been a chaotic but comforting area; the various books and plants were reassuring. And not for the first time was she grateful that she had Loki to talk to; a calm midpoint between hers and Thomas’s shared volatility. “I haven’t… I didn’t want to go to him, in case I made things worse. I can only tell him I’m sorry so many times before it sounds insincere.”
It was only a matter of time before his adopted sister came to see him. Thomas had kept to himself ever since his visit. While he attended to his duties, he wasn’t as approachable as he once was. Whenever Lile was supposed to be somewhere he was, he merely teleported out instead of walking.
“Our brother? He’s…doing just as well as you. Quick temper but still mindful of his duty. I hear he’s with the king now. Discussing his potential match with a lady of the Seelie.”
Loki glanced at her knowingly. Whatever spat his siblings had needed to be resolved. Both of them were unhappy because of it, and they needed to talk to sort things out. Unfortunately, Thomas was proving to be a stubborn brat, and Loki was getting fed up, forcing him to take drastic measures. Going up against his older brother was out of the question ( he wasn’t as strong as Thomas was yet ), but their sister may have a chance.
On the other side of the castle, Thomas was in deep deliberations over a potential marriage between him and a descendant of Queen Titania. The ambassador was eager to form a close bond between their courts, if only to lessen the number of future conflicts between their factions. Not that it was really needed: Thomas had no plans of attacking his aunt’s people.
