Translation:

In a secret laboratory deep in the future timeline, scientists are developing advanced technology to combat threats to the world. These included special gloves and boots, the Psychocuffs, designed to amplify the wearer's latent psychic abilities. The cuffs were made from a rare spiritually resonant metal found in the ruins of an ancient civilization, which could strengthen and stabilize mental abilities. Silver, who already possessed natural psychokinesis abilities, was chosen to be the first Cuffs test subject due to his outstanding potential. The gloves and boots not only amplified his powers, but also allowed him to precisely control his psychokinesis. This allowed him to accomplish feats previously thought impossible. In a mission to save the future, Silver uses this technology to travel through time and try to prevent a disaster from ravaging his world. The Psychocuffs are a constant reminder of his duty and the sacrifices of those who created them, and when combined with his natural talents, create a powerful force against evil.

This gels with the old lore about psychic powers being common in Silver’s future and Silver’s gear having the same markings as ancient echidna technology in Sky Sanctuary and the Nocturne from Sonic Chronicles.

Justice: Silver is driven by a strong sense of justice. Silver is outraged by injustices, devastation and people suffering. He is righteous to the point of viciousness(derides Iblis destroying the world, mocks Sonic after beating him when he thinks he's the Iblis Trigger) against evildoers and those who get in his way. Silver sometimes calls forth great power without mercy(Sonic x Silver). This makes Silver very confrontational as he has zero tolerance for things like breaking promises and will take on anyone or anything to fight for what is right, however his wish is to maintain peace, not to eradicate evil. Silver is deeply protective of his friends and innocents and his priority is always saving others. Silver has different principles from a typical hero(Sonic Channel Staff Column) and can be ruthless in his methods including mugging Tails, fighting dirty(played possum against Sonic in 06), stealth and killing. In competition however, Silver believes in strict fairness and honor. Silver is inquisitive and proactive as he sought answers for ending Iblis when no one else did and actively investigated Dodon Pa. 

Kindness and Optimism: Silver is an optimist with a positive outlook and philosophy, always looking to brighter outcomes. Silver embodies hope just as Sonic embodies freedom. He has a positive way of life that inspires people and makes them want to support him, inspiring hope in others during dark times and spreading happiness during peaceful times(became a top class ice skater and a celebrity genius skating coach to entertain and help people in Otherworld Comedy). Silver is an altruist that is always thinking of someone else’s happiness rather than his own and enjoys service jobs because supporting others and making happy people makes him happy. Silver is a wholly selfless person that is willing to sacrifice himself without even thinking to protect world peace and the smiles of people. Silver is an inspirational figure that helped Elise through her anxiety and was able to rally everyone to back action in the darkest hours of the Eggman war and Solaris incident. He is considered a pretty boy(Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds) and has an enchanting smile that filled Elise with trust and a food customer couldn’t say no to.

World Peace: Silver is devoted to world peace because he hails from a hellish ruined future that was filled with endless darkness, devastation and people suffering. Silver has great empathy for both people and nature, so devastated environments sadden and upsets him while beauty and prosperity takes his breath away. People’s smiles make him smile and blue skies make him feel at peace. Silver wants to “protect smiles” and make people happy because he grew up in a world filled with despair(Sonic x Silver). Silver is sentimental and appreciates the little things in life and all forms of peace and prosperity more than anyone. Silver’s favorite food is apples which represent sweetness and prosperity. Silver’s quills are in the shape of the Japanese Red Maple Leaf which represents world peace, prosperity and serenity.

Straightforward and Honest: Silver is often described as straightforward. Silver has a straightforward mindset and is direct with others. Silver is a pure and genuine person that always means what he says and has a sincere, unpretentious and kind demeanor(Sonic Channel Staff Column). Silver is so honest that he cannot tell lies(Sonic Channel). Silver is blunt and does not hide how he feels while Sonic and Shadow are coy and aloof. As a straightforward person, Silver is free of deception, he wears his heart on his sleeve, his words and actions are dominated by feelings and he approaches things very directly. Despite his cocky attitude, Silver is quite humble and does not think of himself as a hero but rather just someone trying not to mess up time. Silver is themed around purity and everything from his white color, youth, honesty, unfilteredness, immaturity, innocence, emotional intensity and positivity tie into this. Silver’s pure nature is why his counterpart is Galahad, the purest and most chaste of all knights.

Focus: Silver has a straight-to-the-point mentality and only cares that the job is done. He is pragmatic and only cares that a plan works, not what it's called. Silver is goal focused and hates distractions, unnecessary details, timewasting or things getting in his way(Silver uses the Jade Wisp’s Ghost ability because it lets him disappear and focus on racing) which ties into his impatience and impulsiveness as he can get tunnel vision for his objectives. Silver can get so focused that he zones out. Silver takes things more seriously than Sonic and is highly vigilant towards danger which allows him to cooperate with Shadow. Silver isn’t trusting and initially questioned both Mephiles and Dodon Pa. He is also very perceptive as he could see through Eggman Nega’s disguises by noticing small details and has both solved multiple mysteries(06 Town Mission, Rivals+2, Team Sonic Racing) and been able to find solutions no one else was able to(Reviving Sonic in 06's Last Story, sending Avatar when no one was expecting them in Forces).

Attitude: Silver is a rude punkish type and a little immature(Shun Nakamura interview). Silver is so straightforward and honest that he is blunt and rude, especially rude to those he deems against him, but also friends occasionally. He has a snide sarcastic attitude and is very abrasive, being quick to mock others. He doesn’t have a filter and will call you an idiot to your face if he thinks you’re an idiot and isn’t afraid to tell people to shut up(tells Knuckles to shut in Sonic Rivals 2). Silver speaks bluntly and casually(signified in Japanese with his use the informal ore and Anta pronouns for himself and others. He is headstrong, competitive and doesn’t take crap from anyone which can lead to him getting into fights for both serious and petty reasons(almost fights Blaze whenever they meet for the first time). Silver is very confident and has a smug cocky attitude about his abilities. He also has a mischievous side(Sonic Channel Commemorative Illustration series ) that he can have playful cheeky fun with. Silver is bold and prone to epic declarations(he talks like an anime character), he can be over the top to the point of being seen as a maniac(viewed as such several times in 06 and the Rivals series, particularly against Knuckles in Rivals 2) which is furthered by his naivety and lack of regard for his own safety. Silver is more rude/has more attitude than Sonic and all of his mannerisms are casual/impolite including casual posture, sitting with his legs crossed(equivalent to putting your legs on a table) and not giving his full name(just “Silver”) when he introduces himself unlike Sonic and Shadow. Silver's impoliteness and immaturity is an aspect of his straightforwardness and purity.

Emotional: Silver is emotionally immature and unregulated. Silver's strong feelings sometimes lead him to deal with things too head-on and take everything on himself. Silver’s emotional intensity gives him a tendency to be impulsive which is how Mephiles was able to manipulate him(06 leaked script). Silver is hot-headed and rash while Sonic and Shadow are calm and cool(Sonic Channel). Silver feels joy and rage loudly but sadness and contemplation quietly. He has a short temper and can get riled up. Silver can crash out and be reckless because of his emotional explosiveness. So Silver is usually partnered with stoic people(Blaze, Shadow, Espio) that pull him back. In the original Japanese version of 06, Blaze is worried about Silver going berserk/running wild like he does in the Sonic Rivals series rather than being insecure when alone.

Naive: Silver is naive and has a black and white perspective, he is innocent in his worldview and ideals due to hailing from a ruined future where he spent most of his time battling Iblis. He can approach things very bluntly and expect people to believe he’s from the future or other bizarre things just because he knows they’re true(which leads to people thinking he’s crazy and him getting angry). He sometimes does not understand social cues, takes things literally or doesn’t get jokes(but has an angry “what’s so funny”? attitude about it, angry at everyone's laughter in Sonic Channel Otherworld Comedy Act 12) which can lead to awkwardness or confusion. Because he’s from the apocalyptic future, Silver is ignorant of many things. Due to his destitute background, Silver is also wide eyed and has a sense of wonder and curiosity for new and interesting things.

Warrior: Silver fought and struggled for half his life in the destroyed future against constant Iblis monsters and disasters in dark hostile environments and is a fierce warrior because of it. Silver has highly aggressive expressions and body language with constant fists even when just playing games and has an instant fight response to being surprised in Sonic Generations. Silver has relentless determination that has gotten him through constant hardships in life, undeterred by any threat and never giving up no matter how hopeless the situation as he believes there’s hope as long as you don’t give up. He's extremely brave and throws himself at threats with no regard for pain(shrugs off being scraped across a street in Generations and pain beyond description from his powers) or his own safety. Silver has an honor code that values being brave and hates cowardice. He enjoys fighting and fights for fun against his friends and robots in the future. Silver has high fighting power that rivals Sonic and Shadow and can evenly fistfight them without his psychic powers. Being able to defeat giant monsters like Iblis and small armies by himself(06 Town Missions, his life in the Iblis future). Silver has angular upturned eyes which represent strong will and intensity in character design.

Challenger: When not on mission, Silver is a life loving adventurer that engages in competitions and enjoys the peace he works so hard to protect. Silver engages in cheerful activities after the historical change in 06 and loves sightseeing and going on journeys. Silver is a Fly/Technique Type character so he specializes in technical skills, acrobatics and balance. He is a skilled professional that makes steady efforts to train and improve his skills and takes offense to being treated like an amateur(Otherworld Comedy Act 8). Silver's determination also makes him stubborn(got exact Silver cut apples after 40 tries). Silver enjoys challenges and ways to test himself(climbed the Tokyo Tower). Silver is a multi-talented person that has been a top class ice skater, a genius celebrity skating coach and a delivery boy. In Town Missions, Silver was able to get one of the highest shooting scores in Soleanna’s 1500 year history and skillfully accomplish various odd jobs. One of Silver’s catchphrases is “I’ll take you on”.
