“i feel like it’s the only way we’re going to get them back at their own game. i believe they are behind you because of your father. maybe they had something going on with him and since he died, they turned to you, finding the perfect opportunity at the party. and there’s something telling me that they put evidence in that crime scene,” he pauses now, fumbling to get his suitcase from the floor so he can show her some of the things he found, but decides against it a few seconds later, knowing that she’s more than stressed out and that he can leave that for after dinner, when she’s rested and eaten. and suddenly, the male realizes why his father was so keen on taking care of her. she was pure, something that not everyone could say, and he understood it now. “thank you, lara,” he says, nodding, doing as said about her name, but he wanted to keep things with a distance still, just in case he started thinking with his dick and does something he knows they are going to regret. “i never trusted cops, especially the crooked ones, but this is a serious case, bigger than i ever seen before. i didn’t know they would to this extend to make sure you went to jail, or at least suffered. it’s incredible really, how they’re taking the case, putting it out there, making you the villain,” he pauses for a second, closing his eyes. “i’ll need you to stop watching news, or anything related to the case, it might get ideas in your head, and we don’t want outside people to influence you,” he says, nodding to each word, his eyes now opening. and now he realizes that while he’s all awkward limbs, and sometimes a stutter can come when he’s trying to speak too fast, she’s all elegance and fine words, it’s a crash of worlds, and frank does not mind it. “i like how you think, it’s exactly that. lawyers and clients shouldn’t hate each other, or at least have some sense of trust against the other. because if not, the case will only flop. something i learned after having to represent one of my cousins, piece of advice, miss lara, never mix business like law with family, it gets messy, really fast,” he decides to tell her, because she’ll learn the story either way, so there is no sense in hiding it from her. “yes, i get my best ideas late at night, and i’m sure i’m going to get lost in this mannor, so that would be for the best, thank you,” so he doesn’t mind, in fact, he’s glad to be closer to her, if anything happens, he can jump to the gun and stop anything the cops have in mind before they can even execute it. “i’m a simple man, a steak and fries will do just fine,” he tells her with a smile, because it’s hard not to smile around her if he’s being honest. “no, thank you, for giving me a chance,” he puts his hand over hers in his shoulder, hoping he’s not stepping out of bounds. “i didn’t, so i guess the only option is to send for some clothes?” he asks, looking at her. “i won’t leave because they might take it as a chance to call, but if you send out for clothes, i’m not opposed to that.”
lara nodded at frank’s words about the connection to her father, nodding her head in agreement. there were times he had tried to explain this to her a girl, yet it was something she never understood; until now. “he had warned me of the police many times, do you think this is what he meant?” the brunette smiled when she realized frank was putting his suitcase back away, glad he didn’t think that this was the right time to go through the case. she was tired and overwhelmed, she just wanted five minutes of living her life normally again. she couldn’t even leave her house without being harassed, it was driving her insane. it was hard for lara to deny that the male was handsome, finding him stupidly attractive. from the way he spoke to her and respected her to his broad chest, tone muscles and the slight stubble on his chin. everything about him was handsome, even the cute glasses he was wearing. there was something about him, she could see he truly cared about her fate beyond work; the same way his father did. but, it was as if frank understood more. it wasn’t like his father where he’d been asked to protect her, it was as if frank was doing it because of how much he cared. “i won’t watch the news, i promise. i watched it a few days ago and my face was everywhere, i felt sick. i won’t do it again, not until you tell me to.” she sighed, deciding it’d be best if frank controlled her life in some forms from now on. “the room next to mine is the second largest chamber, it’ll be best if you have that. the way we’re close to one another and if you’re unsure about anything, you can find me with ease. never be afraid to come in and wake me, i won’t bite.” she chuckled, not being someone who was cranky if they’d been woken. she’d prefer if frank was comfortable enough around her to wake her and ask for her help, she wanted them to have a supreme level of trust. “a steak and fries, got it. i’ll make sure to get us a bottle of champagne, too. to celebrate a new partnership,” she promised, giving the male a bright smile. lara was slightly shocked as frank rested his large hand on her own, but she didn’t pull away. simply she moved her hand to link her fingers with his own, giving his hand a tight squeeze. “i trust you, giving you a chance is the best thing i could have done.” she stayed holding the males hand as she stood next to the seated male, not finding it strange they were so touchy with one another. “i’ll send for some clothes, hopefully they’ll be here by tonight. do you sleep in pajamas, or are you more of a boxers only guy? even a naked sleeper? it’s just so i know what to order,” she chuckled, a smile on her lips. she was hoping frank didn’t find it strange whether she was questioning about his nudity, genuinely wondering what he may have slept in. “come on, i’ll show you to your room and then we can grab dinner. you don’t need to stay in here, you should come with me. this is your home now, too. don’t be shy, you can do anything you please. just tell the staff what you need and they’ll get it, they’ll probably refer to you as master avery from now on. don’t be surprised, mr. avery.” lara noted, releasing frank’s hand as she exited her office and expected the male to follow or to go explore the manor.
